"The funny thing about SVS subs (I've heard two different models now - the sonic signature is very similar) is that your initial impression will be "where did all that boomy mid bass go?". These subs are very flat through the mid bass range (60-30) with none of the usual emphasis at 35-40 Hz that many sub makers deliberately build in to hide the fact that their subs have no real bottom end. This lack of mid bass bloom allows the sub to blend beautifully with the mains and it remains very neutral and undetected until the source material calls for it." QUOTE(htkaki @ Jun 20 2009, 05:46 PM) This was what I heard when I bought back my sub. I was like "WTH" why doesn't it rumble and shake the whole house. Don't worry about it, such a fussy person like me .. you'll love it by time. It's like in camouflage, you're not sure if it's running or not and it'll just surprise you when it kicks in. I guess when the source wants you to really feel it, you will. |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jun 23 2009, 09:27 AM) Then, I guessed I aint Malaysian enough My ref is at -6dB, and it's the same model as yours. What could I be missing? I watched my movie at moderate volume (Old man trying to preserve his hearing) -22dB is very very loud, I normally watch at only -30dB ~ -25dB at most. Music never went below -33dB usually it's only at -40dB. Sigh .. tonight need to do summore testing! |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jun 23 2009, 02:36 PM) Mine at -8dB DUWAN!!!!!!!!!! I'm trying to stay away!!! Reli la bro, very koyak liao.Bro, even same avr but different room size, different speakers, and different in-room freq too. So, diff ref level. Now, hardly crank above -26dB. When you are free, come over and feel the massive difference between PB-10NSD and PC-12Plus QUOTE(jchong @ Jun 23 2009, 02:40 PM) Sorry wanted to clarify some more. The ref level is -6dB (s6xs9x) or -8dB (htkaki) as set in your receiver volume right? Mine @ -6db the output from my speakers to my listening positions are 75db.But what is the actual output from the speakers? Is it 100dB? As for htkaki, he's probably getting 75db also. This is only to level all speaker to sound the same and enjoy what's really recorded as it's supposed to. As for the sub i Made my spot on 77~79db. Can't get them accurate. Until i felt like throwing up also cannot get 78db constant. Nvm Tonight i'll do it again. getting addicted to the throwing up effect. htkaki, Can you stay in the room for 5 minutes with you PC12+ on Ref Level with white noise? Added on June 23, 2009, 5:26 pm QUOTE(mpyw @ Jun 23 2009, 02:47 PM) I think should be 75-80db measuring using SPL meter In a way does this mean the Yammy Was and will still be more powerful compared to your New Marantz?my old Yammy reference is -10db the marantz is -8db Just Wondering. Mine and htkaki's difer 2db might be he's got more snakes than i have more worms. So 2db justify lar .. and also space and room in completely diffrent. Aiks, What happened to the MO bro.
After a few weeks with the SVS, I can't hardly tell when it's at its peak. But overall it's very much blending in with all the speakers. Haha, so far so good. |

I think ship from Port to Miri would only take 1 week by sea and it's pretty cheap i guess compared to EMS or other courier by air.
But i think you can always arrange pickup from SVS to your doorstep by UPS or Fedex. Slightly Expensive i guess but u'll get to enjoy it in a week or two the most. |

What sub comes with blinking lights anyway?
Having a digital display on anything looks kewl larh. Even if it's on your fridge stating it's temperature. "got such thing or not?" I never touch the gain on the sub after calibrating with the SPL. I had my sub hit 77~80 and the level on the avr is at 0.0db, so want more then play around there lu. jwyj Happy for you !!! |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jul 2 2009, 09:21 AM) The rattling is normally associated with mid-bass. Some subs are tuned to have a peak at this range. And it just loses its balances upon diving below 30Hz. If the sub is at it's peak on the mid bass, you'll probably get loads of Boom Boom with Power. ... Anyway, like mys_terious said no right or wrong. It's a matter of personal preference. ... Easy to integrate and when it comes, it REALLY hit you. From what I experience with the SVS, is that it's pretty real. But you do some how feel that it's not working sometimes, but when it does .. it really DO! I'm very happy with it and would probably go for a 12", but one thing for sure, it's VERY BALANCED and blends in with any speakers. QUOTE(arremie @ Jul 2 2009, 09:23 AM) Agreed with u there. I prefer 10R over 10NSD but that doesn't mean 10R is better than 10NSD or vice versa. Each to its own Yep Yep do come over.Added on July 2, 2009, 9:27 am I'm waiting for a few DVD from Amazon then I go to his crib again n see. Anyway I still got the feeling it will not be my cup of tea Added on July 2, 2009, 11:40 am QUOTE(lightning69 @ Jul 2 2009, 10:36 AM) this type of peak some sub manufacturer intentional tune in to make their sub sound more powerful to hide their sub's weakness. The end result is user would normally have a turn the volume level down when listen to music as this peak will sound too loud for music. I wont say it's a weakness, Some speakers are Bright and some are just Harder on the Bass. It's just different and to cater for different taste.Oh yea, I use the same volume for Movies and Music.
