wah in the car ......

next time if u see me...call me la...and dont la shout "oi metalfreak". I'm Andrew

I'm trying to get my usual 10KM per session. Starting to get the hang of it soon I hope.

Don't mind me asking but why don't start your own running journal at the Journal section? The Runnerz Thread would be more dedicated for discussion and updates on events

my name is oso andrew, i wud feel kinda wierd calling me self tongue.gif
10km per session? nice thumbup.gif whats ur running schedule like?

my own running journal..neh...
reason i dun do so tongue.gif
1. Hardly anyone goes there hence easier for newbies to see, refer (if they want to laugh.gif)
->easier for sifus to comment or pm me to give me advice

2. Nt much too update -no need journal r
->hence the update via the thread (too give it free bumps too)

3. Don't want to seem like so into it and then maybe one day loose interest ->journal just left there

Well..up to you bro..

LOL your name is Andrew as well..So for we have 3 Andrews now LOL. Me you and another friend smile.gif

Oh...since you put it that way. Well a personal journal is good because it helps you to keep track of your progress. Never take for granted because even though no one seems to be posting/commenting your journal, friends like Pheonix still read and comment if they see something constructive to comment. You run because its something you like to do. Not for the sake of others to see smile.gif

anyway. Keep running smile.gif Now i'm back in opis...aih.

I've been running quite regularly as part of my fitness routine for the past 2 years or so. Currently I'm doing about 7.6km every Sunday, 3 laps which include at least 1/2 mile of steady climb, normally I can finish it in about 47 mins. Other than that sometimes I'll run my usual 5K lap around my office in Putrajaya. On other days I'll be in the gym. I'ma be 33 this year, pretty big guy, 90kg, 1.74m.. not fat, big. tongue.gif

I've always been competitive in every sport I get involved in, I was with Selangor Cycling for 10 years, with the National team for 2 years, was part of the Sukom Core team back in '95, was also part of the Gemilang 2001 project team. After I quit cycling in 2000, I play basketball, played in KL Open for a few years, after that I played football in the KL League in 2006. Now I've been happily doing weights & running. Weights have always been part of my cycling training program as I was a track sprinter (200m & kilometer).

So, I'm looking towards competing in my first race this year, my focus will be the 15K New Balance Pacesetters in March. I guess I still have time to train. But I'm not looking to be too involved in racing, I just wanna see how I measure against others. I just run for fun, just that my competitive spirit wants me to take part in that race. I guess I can do a few 10K, 15K races. Hope to learn for U guys here. rclxms.gif

let me try to answer ur queries.

- the wear/tear at the outside heel of the shoe is normal over time. the rate of it is very subjective from runners to runners. so dont worry too much here.

- i am not too sure if there is a lot of movement at both ur arch area that causes friction at the area hence causing blisters eventually.

maybe the following can solve the problem but no guarantee
a) Try this first. make sure ur socks have the capability to prevent blisters eg Anti-Blister system. The only socks I know is either Injinji or Wright Socks. I believe there are other brands in the market but i am not too sure which one.
b) hv a shoe that provide a good arch lock so as to minimise any movement at the arch level

Looking at Ur stats Phoenix, I'd be a giant standing next to U. I've just got my body fat % tested in December, I've got twice as much as Urs ! Well, actually, I've only resuming my program with a proper one. It's been on ad hoc basis since after Raya, I didn't have access to a gym. Now I do weights 3 times weekly, cardio twice & in between I play badminton or basketball or football.

& yeah, the NB race is in May. So, still lotsa time. I need to get down to 80kg lean mass by then !

As a matter of fact ccube, I did emailed U a couple of times to enquire about the Saucony shoes, but have since settled for a Mizuno. But I am looking at the ProGrid Jazz 12, proly sometime next month. Is it still available ?

also try to apply foot oilment at arch area before running. Vaseline can be a good option but downside is a bit greasy. When my stock of BodyGlide arrive, you can also try it as its not greasy at all.

as for the shoes, can chk out your shoes if u are running this sat. just want to ensure is not too wide.

tenno:If your body fat is twice as mine, I guess that's pretty all right as mine is very low. Acceptable for a guy. And do not forget, that you are very into weight lifting while I am more into running although I still do weight lifting although not as much to maintain my muscle strenghts. Running doesn't really need a light or slim body although it is a bonus to have one. Our friend toto4d here is huge too and he can run very well. Probably when you 2 stand beside me, I'll be a potato. By the way, you can always have a home-gym. Try out the reisstance band. It's a really good workout tool.

Hi to the many master runners here!
I m quite new to running having only started 3 months ago.

Can anyone tell me what is a tempo run? What is the speed i should be running at?

I currently train 4 times per week. 8km run per session at a speed of approximately 10.5km/hr. how should i attempt for a tempo run session?
