*just a copy of me post frm thread 1 as wud like to hv answers to me queries tongue.gif

Hey all..

jz kinda gt bk frm the early morning run

the run was..1 word -FANTASTIC it was hwever more then 4km+ mentioned..i checked with one of the runners..it seems its 6km+ coz it starts frm the Bkt Aman carpark (nw i knw where it is ) all the way round lake gardens like u go on to the highway a bit then bk into the taman..up the hills n all past the bird park and all...it be 5+ if an exit was made at the planetarium..but of course the group didn't do that..and erm..i dun tink dey are beginners..a no. wearing "PACE SETTERS" t -shirts and all..a couple of hot young chiqs running/ jogging at a real good pace..

i was edi there at before 7.15am..didn't see a whole bunch of runners till abt 7.35 or so..i saw them as dey ran dwn hill into lake gardens so i followed...keke

o btw..i saw u andy..but didn't hv the balls to say hi or wave saw u..ur gf and ur gf's fren i guess..when the 3 of u met up behind the boat hse and u left them..

*lesson learnt today..nvr say women are slow ...well..at least some aren't

**o btw...is 1 lap around da lake realli like 2+ km? i mean a whole round seems a lot longer nt cutting across the bridge..1 whole round..till the play ground??

*wow...i do hope i'll be able to join the running events asap laugh.gif

Thanks Riq. We will start running at 6am sharp. But if you somehow overslept or late and scared getting lost, you can choose to run around Lake Gardens instead then. There will be plenty of weekeenders there. Besides, Runners Malaysia beginners program starts at 7.30am and they run around Lake Gardens too.
*
harlo all..

went again for the "begginers" run on sat morning..

this time i was at the Bkt Aman carpark before 7.30am..saw a group ppl registering for the Lunar shoes...didn't look like anyone frm last week
waited till 7.30am but no1 runnning shakehead.gif but saw a no. of familiar face as i read their blogs..den me decided to walk dwn the road and wait at the entrance of the Lake Gardens..then oni saw a group..all with Lunars though..and again nt anyone i recognised frm last week..

well..decided to join dem anyway..this group ran at a slower pace..had less ppl..and less km..instead of passing the birdpark entrance..did a left turn and then bk to carpark after a series of twisty roads and dwn hill..

o btw congrats all!! i do hope me can join u guys nxt time

*did i run with the correct group?
*did i get their starting point correct? dey start at Bkt Aman ya?

any recomendation?

d3vilzzzz: Stop at petrol kiosk or 7-11 to refuel ourselves. When you feel good after a 5K run, it's time to increase to 6K and so on.
*
oo..i see..
den wat abt the run itself? u guys jz like take the gels and all?

n btw..increase like a km at a time? or..erm..wateva i feel comfortable with? any recomended time frame? like erm..every 2 months 5km or something?

thanks notworthy.gif

d3vilzzzz: May be you could try the smart coach tool at www.runnersworld.com? Try this link : Smart Coach
Also i found a book provide very comprehensive info for beginner, with some guide from zero to 10k, then half, then full, then ultra, very basics but i find it very nice and friendly for beginner. The book is [The Marathon Runners's Handbook], by Bruce Fordyce. This book is available at Kinokuniya at KLCC (in the sport -> running section).

THANKS laugh.gif

hi fellow runners...

anyone can recommend me which watch is good to use when running....if possible with as much features as possible...and the estimate price.

Thanks...
*
i wud like one too blush.gif but i guess the most important function for me is stopwatch and 1 which can calculate distances..but da thing is most like need a "pod" clipped/attached to ur shoe

--TODAYS REPORT--
hey..din c any of u guys today..mebbe u all were there..but din recognise kua laugh.gif

arrived at 6.50am...warmed up...
todays run was great..the group ran the usual long distance again this time tongue.gif
i liked todays run as i started at the bk and then challenged me self to catch up with the leading pack (1 young uncle, 1 young aunty, 1 old uncle)tongue.gif
LOVE wub.gif the hills and all..but i do need to train harder..me nw following the technique one of the forumers(metalfreak) mentioned; smaller strides faster pace/ maintain rhythm

i m looking forward to next week's run..

d3vilzzzz: There's the new Saucony ProGrid Jazz 12. I think it will be great for beginners like you and it's made very affordable at only RM230! Comes in 2 colours too! But first of all things, need to know your feet type.

No time frame. Increase when you feel comfortable. Always listen to your body. Don't try to be a hero. Pushing yourself is good, but don't over-push.

meatball88: If you are not looking at GPS or stride function, I will recommend Timex. Very reliable brand but I do not know the price. However, if you want to track your distance, Garmin will be good but be ready to fork out around RM1.6K! I might be selling my Polar RS800SD/G3 Heart Rate Monitor + GPS + Stride sensor though. Reason, not much usage.
*
aahh..thanks for the advice and recomendation notworthy.gif
i m looking at various saucony shoes nw..yup..me nt too sure of me feet type..i plan to go to a New Balance shp and check it out tongue.gif
(although i knw can use the "wet footprint on a newspaper" technique)

Ps. the price tag is great compared to the nikes's and adidas's i see rclxms.gif

wat route is used in the terry fox run? dun hv to register before hand ya?

anyone of u going for the IOI comunnity run?
more information
the 5 and 7k is competetive..the 3k one is nt tongue.gif i m tinking of a "debut" here laugh.gif

sfax: Awesome weekly mileage. Don't forget balance rest to recover too. EAT!

navilink: Here's the measurement of the Terry Fox shirts.

3XS: (Chest:32", Length: 24")
2XS (Chest: 34", Length: 25")
XS: (Chest: 36", Length: 26")
S: (Chest 38", Length: 27")
M: (Chest: 40", Length: 28")
L: (Chest: 42", Length: 29")
XL: (Chest: 44", Length: 30")
2XL: (Chest: 46", Length: 31")
3XL: (Chest: 48", Length 32")

d3vilzzzz: You do not need to reigster for Terry Fox. Just bring yourself there with your friends and run. It's a charity event. Only lionel87 is going for the IOI Community Run. As for your feet type, once you have the results, do let either myself or ccube knows. You can actually view the shoes when you are Lake Gardens but blame yourself for not introducing yourself to us.
*
aahh...i see i see
i tried to register me self for the community run but it seems that the no. of participants has reached its limit tongue.gif
well..i guess i'll make me "debut" nxt yr laugh.gif

oo..had me feet checked out at the BB NB shp..me is the normal feet but me lean on the outward of me foot..so it seems i need "neutral" shoes
hmm.gif looks like the ProGrid Jazz12 is rite up me lane..anymore recomendations..hw wud i go abt meeting up with u guys(phoenix/ccube) to buy it?
me current shoes..i tink is loosing its cushioining and the heel area is actually wearing out sad.gif
