Hi, ccube, can I ask when shoe should I wear if I want something light but comfortable?
Currently I'm using new balance 767, but i feel that the shoe is pretty heavy, making me hard to run, but one good thing about this shoe is it wont give me any blister onto my leg after running 42k that day. please advise me. thanks |

Different Brands have different technologies.
And Yups. Branding does play a part in the price difference. Needless to say, Nike is the most expensive of all and the not the most lasting brand (my nike basketball shoes always have a short life span compared to reebok and and1) For brand wise, I'd recommend you try asics. They've been making running shoes for decades. However, I would also advise you to try out the shoes first. What's comfortable is what you're gonna buy. Even if you're told the shoes won't last. We don't wanna get blisters and foot aches do we? =) Good luck. |

Maybe U shud post this question in the Runners thread. There's a lot of experienced runners there who can give U good advice. Dun simply go for brand, there's a lot more to it if U're serious about running, i.e. feet type, goals, body weight, etc.

Yes, do post running related matters in the Runnerz thread as many including myself are seasoned runners.
In the meantime, do visit my online store at http://store-runnerzcircle.blogspot.com. I am a dealer of various running procucts and ASICS is one of them. The price displayed are of retail price and there is a further reduction to it. |

Asics on the other hand is considered the premium brand of running shoes.. but despite that doesn't mean they are meant for you in regards to feet type, arch comfort or overall comfort.. you may need to go through a few diff type of shoes before you find the ONE If you ppl need shoes PLEASE PLEASE direct your queries to CCUBE or PHOENIX.. |

Depending on wert brands ur interested in.. most are available in most sport shoe shops, sport shops..
But if ur looking at saucony, newton, u can look for ccube or your own source Do u knw ur feet type? Hv u done a wet feet test? These all the essentials before buying a shoe.. It is best to knw ur feet type before buying shoes especially frm nike and adidas as the assistants are nt the most helpful or in some cases knowledgeable.. |

no i have not done any of those test. so far I only know of adidas providing test such as that, but i do not want to go in just for the test, and not buy their shoe.

The wet test is basicaly just a basic way of determining one's foot type. The foot scan system available at adidas is a way up from the wet test by telling you the pressure point and the amount of pressure put in. However, as these test are done while standing, it does not tell you on how you land during motion. Therefore if you see shop like The Bike Boutique at Damansara Perdana and Running Lab at Singapore, they have a treadmill there so customers can walk on it while the consultants study their gait.

QUOTE(raymones89 @ Jul 5 2009, 01:25 AM) Hi, ccube, can I ask when shoe should I wear if I want something light but comfortable? the NB767 is a good training shoe but a bit on the heavy side for race day. especially when you want to have some advantage ie getting a good timing. The Saucony Fastwitch 3 had been proven to be a pretty light + good cushioning race day shoe. Weighing just around 7oz, this is the shoe which had been well accepted by most runners around. I personally used it for all my races. Selling at RM260 after 40% discount.Currently I'm using new balance 767, but i feel that the shoe is pretty heavy, making me hard to run, but one good thing about this shoe is it wont give me any blister onto my leg after running 42k that day. please advise me. thanks Added on July 5, 2009, 6:48 pmi just wanted to address some on the queries that were posted by different person here. Brand is just a name. and diff brands have their own technology that they will promote. Whether which brand is better, then its very subjective. The most important when choosing a running shoe is that the model itself will blend well into ur foot structure. I always advised runners that the most expensive shoe in town which have the greatest technology may not be the right shoe for you. For example, if you know that u have a high arch, then narrow down to shoes that provide a good arch support for your feet. Shoes that do not provide a good arch support will eventually result in your arch having pressure pain after a long run. if this is not corrected, overtime this may result in ankle injury. so do take note of this when choosing a pair of running shoes. Added on July 5, 2009, 6:52 pm QUOTE(blackstripes @ Jul 5 2009, 02:51 PM) i visited. sadly, they're over my budget. =.= assuming that you have a neutral feet, then you basically can wear most shoes in the market. Saucony Jazz 12 is a neutral cushion shoe which is priced pretty competitive in the market. Selling at RM230 (after 40% discount) this model is voted "Best Buy Shoe" by Runners World USA for 2008/2009 season. The model had proven itself where runners had used it for numerous 42k races and even the recently concluded Sundown 84k Ultra Marathon. do let me know if you want more infor abt it. just PM me.i'm just looking for a shoe that can satisfy my comfort and running needs. something basic and lasting. considering lower budget new balance or asics This post has been edited by ccube: Jul 5 2009, 06:52 PM |

QUOTE(chgchksg128 @ Jul 4 2009, 11:49 PM) This is my footprint, which type of running shoe suitable for me? a normal feet to me. so a neutral cushioning shoe will be OK. u can still choose a shoe with mild stability medial support if you are doing longer distance like 25k and above. this is just to ensure there is stability support to stabilize ur landing in case ur feet bend inwards as u tired out during a longer run. otherwise as i said, a neutral cushion shoe will work fine for u.![]() http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/9916/p0407090000.jpg |

Brooks is at Curve (highest floor), BBT (Klang) and some Jusco outlets....GOto Curve....the unker there is quite helpful in giving advice...but of course, it's more accessible to chat with choi and phoenix over here.
I find Brooks pricing and Saucony are minimally different.....just gotta find one that suit you the best...... |

I just got asics gel kayano 15 on saturday. It wasnt that great at all, but all the reviews at runnersworld was good. The shoe was comfortable but when i started running it felt very stiff, the further i ran it felt really awful, my right shoe was a bit tighter than my left so i loosen the shoelaces. I ran for over 3 or 4 km then i gave up because i felt that it was going to give some sort of injuries .
Do i need to spend more time on it so that my feet gets used to it? |
