dmm: I am a rookie who know nuts about running and shoes. But I just know that I need a good one to cushion my weight, arch and movement (my outer sole tend to wear out faster). You may read some of the reviews in the net to get a good grasp of it. Otherwise, you can check with the boutique (an uncle) in the Curve. He can give good advice too.

Of course, the fella runners here can give you more valuable insights.

Would love to join you for cycling but currently I'm packing up and don't really have time. usually i ride around my housing area, Setia Alam. Lovely place, less traffic (Klang Pacer's organizing a half marathon here in June I think). I hear people say Uncle Chan (one of the triathlon pioneers in Msia) brings ppl for cycling every weekend and train them. Perhaps you should contact him to get yourself started for the next race. Go for the PD one. There's not many Tri-s in Malaysia so if you miss the last Tri, u gotta wait for at least half a year into next year. Kenyir is the open season for this year.
eugene: Are you aware of the Setia Alam Fun Run in June 09 (4.8km).

Is Xterra (in Kuantan) something like Tri? I know someone who just signed up.

vishagan: I am a begineer runner but I just bought a pair of shoe. I think Brooks, Saucony, Asics, etc are within your range if you know where to get them. NEVER pay full price.

I just bought Brooks Adrenaline GTS9 (about RM300). I will look at Saucony Hurricane 10 (slightly more tan RM300) in near future as spare/alternative shoe. I was advised that the running shoe needs to rest and breathe as well.

Just google them out for their reviews.....Their website have this shoe advisor to help you to make an informed decision. Try www.brooksrunning.com. There is even an video to explain your running stride, etc.....

Good luck in your search......

I registered for StandChart 10KM run, but I have no experience in outdoor jogging... I always jog at fitness center only... Current achievement is 30min run for 4.35KM. My wish is just complete the 10km on time.

Is it possible for me to do so?? Need advise on this... thanks~

I am not a runner yet. i supposed 10k run is pretty much a battle against yourself......it's all in your mind plus training of course...hehehe....Believe in yourself and you will suceed in doing so.....

yeah...one day...(2-3months later) i will do the same.......

devil/triple/cube/navil/marvin/etc. - let say, we are doing normal 10k run, do we land on the heel OR land flat on the shoe?

what is the lifespan of your shoe? I read in phoenix blog that he only decided to retire his Nike sumthing after like close to 800km.....

I know there are many of you are hardcore runners, but what is the point of buying so many shoes? You don't need like 10 pairs, 3 pairs will do. Can last you for 3 years.
*
Zeist – I think you got it wrong. Shoe is like tyre, it has lifespan. Typically running shoe lifespan is about 500km depending on weight, stride and also surface condition. Moreover, if a runner run everydays, it’s good to rest the shoe so that it has a chance to recuperate.

If one runs 25km per week, to hit 500km, he/she needs 5month….let say got cheat day he/she pontent joggin, lifespan of the shoe should be just 6months.

I am still trying to land on flat. Being a supinator, I have to do it consciously. Hopefully, it become a habit later.....

Cow dung should get you two high and run faster........

hmmm.....below is the video posted by someone earlier....on running and how to land.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2APJmxz11s...player_embedded

will just stick to landing flat......heel is definitely a no no as it will be playing the role as a brake.
