I doubt they are the same.

If not mistaken,

Dual Core = 2 pipe in one core aka Hyper Threading

Core 2 Duo = 2 pipe and 2 core, each core has its own pipe

Core 2 Quad = 4 pipe and 4 core, taking two pieces of C2D into one processor

i7 = 8 pipe and 4 core, each core have 2 pipe which uses Hyper Threading technology.

Perhaps you should try Crysis Warhead, even my setup tune at gamers and 1920*1080, there is still some part it stutter albeit.

But this E5200 ain't a true dual core as its only using Hyper Threading which was first produce for Intel P4 3GHZ socket 478 HT. Which is the best processor during the era of socket 478.

hah are u sure its HT like Pentium D...i dont think so....cuzz e5200 is base on Wolfdale chip....so its must be true DualCore...not Hyper Threading...the name Pentium Dual-Core is just a gimmick...its a downgrade C2D with less cache...

for me, if you get the batch right...this is the best value chip u can get...hunt for the 5caps batch and u can squezze 4Ghz out of it....4ghz for rm2XX....the best budget proc ever....

mine was 2capper but still manage to go 3.725Ghz on 1.3v...impressive right...superpi 1m can touch 14sec mark edy..,,the only drawback of this 5 series was, it got FSB wall....so FSB is limited between 330-350.....but they give it high value of multiplier 12x...so mathematically u still can achieve 4Ghz mark...

iam retiring e5200 soon...ordered my e85 edy...hehe.... bb all...

seriously, since E2140 and even celeron E1400 and old class pentium D(exclude extreme edition), it's ain't using hyper threading technology, it's dual core proc icon_rolleyes.gif

Since Pentium D 8xx generasion oredi using true Duo core, jus pentium D EE edition with HT ,resulted in 4 core.

HT or Hyperthreading is a virtual core technology....nobody says its a was bad thing...with the old pentium4 they use this technology to mimic multi-core, 1 core, 2 thread.....nowdays all the modern Intel proc use the true Multi-core edy,so every thread got thier own core...this technology still been use today in the intel i7 to make virtual 8thread in 4core, not quite sure dow...correct me if i were wrong...

The name 'DUAL CORE' speaks for itself that it got two cores...
like d e5200 of course

whereas hyper threading is indicated as 'HT'

still got people confused mah?

Which one is better? Of course the newer dual core better for sure
but if both were combine like the i7 then it gonna be even better i suppose...

IIRC.. DualCore is not hyperthreading if you are referring to the Pentium Dual Core E5000 series, its based on wolfdale core which does not have HT, even the E2000 are based on conroe

i think there is definition misunderstanding here..

2 pipe if i understand your posting correctly refers to threads
