QUOTE(mADmAN @ Jul 15 2009, 02:33 AM) err.. wats the point? improvement in super pi doesnt mean jack in real world applications...u want to overclock coz u wan the PC to be faster for ur usage. unless all u care about is the size of ur e-penis la... Proc speed is only one component, the amount of cache on the proc is also important. The I/O speed is also important. In fact it's pretty much all about cache if all you do is surf. For DTP etc. the best thing is lots of RAM -- you can see a huge difference if the OS doesn't need to swap in and out a lot. i OCed mine to 3.0...didnt feel any improvement, didnt see any improvement...reverted back to stock... and turned on EIST. SAME performance but save power...lesser heat...etc etc. It makes a slight difference in beta Flash/PhysX software PPU games, where they have not optimized the code yet. In the real world though, people don't optimize apps for OC-ed procs PS. 50% is nothing, I can get 100% on my E2140 for what it's worth This post has been edited by wodenus: Jul 20 2009, 02:10 PM |

Once you start hitting 3.6 and beyond, *then* you will see what overclocking is all about. SuperPi in itself doesn't mean much, but it does give an indication of a processor's performance under certain parameters. You can overclock *and* turn EIST on.i OCed mine to 3.0...didnt feel any improvement, didnt see any improvement...reverted back to stock... and turned on EIST.
