Dual Core = 2 pipe in one core aka Hyper Threading

Core 2 Duo = 2 pipe and 2 core, each core has its own pipe

Core 2 Quad = 4 pipe and 4 core, taking two pieces of C2D into one processor

i7 = 8 pipe and 4 core, each core have 2 pipe which uses Hyper Threading technology.

IIRC.. DualCore is not hyperthreading if you are referring to the Pentium Dual Core E5000 series, its based on wolfdale core which does not have HT, even the E2000 are based on conroe

i think there is definition misunderstanding here..

i believe C2D/Q has HT logic in them.. but Intel does not enable them for reasons best known to them.

iirc... according to Intel HT takes only about 5% of the die size
