but still, both are 45nm so the difference between d temp and energy effiency isnt really big.

QUOTE(Oxburg @ May 1 2009, 08:03 PM) For what i think if your E6300 can reach 3.0Ghz dont change. The increase performance isnt that big from E6300 -> E5200 since the cache is same. But only the temperature is lower and more energy efficiency. I got budget to either go for E7200 C2D or this processor..dont know which to go for..plan to setup a HTPC maybe to get a M-ATX mbox such as P45 DFI.. any advice ? |

I have OC my E5200 G31M-ES2L to 3.2ghz (266x12)..
I have mushkin RAM DDR2 800, the multiplier i set to 3.33 --> 3.33 x 266 = 889.. i set vcore to AUTO (in Cpu-Z it show 1.344 - 1.360) and the temp. 40c (idle) - 55c (load).. the Rated FSB in cpu-Z is at 1064 mhz.. but i don't think there's any improvement compare to stock speed.. how did i know? i convert a video using stock speed for ~40 minutes and using 3.2ghz also ~40 minutes using same settings.. any opinion? thanks |

oh thanks..
i haven't test it yet as i'm playing l4dead right now :) but i cannot overclock it using 333mhz, anything above 266mhz is FAIL.. i did set the voltage to 1.4 but fail too.. this must be due to mobo.. :sigh: 3.6ghz will be nice..hoho |

planning to buy gigabyte ep45-ud3l to pair with this proc
my current mobo only managed to oc stable 2.8GHz. (Foxconn 45CMX) Very weak mobo.. any ideas how much ep45-ud3l can push this e5200 to the max stable oc? if i buy this mobo then i already hv the good combos to start oc: e5200, 2x2gb hyperx 800 cl5, vantec ion2+ 450w, 9800GTX+ if this mobo can push till 3.5 stable..i'm truly satisfied n buy it!! |

SAME performance but save power...lesser heat...etc etc. If you always encode video or doing stuff which is processor intensive then yes procesor speed help Higher Clock also will help in gaming as it can gain a few FPS,in some case the useful one, well when combine with graphic card oc as well But if all you do is just facebooking, msn chat and some general office word then you can't see the difference between 2.4ghz and 3ghz And in I/O intensive task, all the performance increase on the 600mhz clock is masked by your slow I/O(HDD) Just my 2cents |

read back my post again properly...
Ku2_BiO_X OCed his proc and tested with video encoding and found no difference... then xk2 tells him to run Super Pi to know the difference.. my point is...its useless to run Super PI coz watever improvement is there doesnt make a difference in real world applications..and in this case. video encoding. so wats the point? no real world improvements + improvement in benchmarks = wats the point? e-penis? real world improvements + improvement in benchmarks = worthwhile and even bigger e-penis This post has been edited by mADmAN: Jul 15 2009, 05:10 PM |
