Regarding this , i just refer to intel staff and oversea hardware review website editor,
according to them , Intel did produce s478 cpu for laptop,
due to overheat problem, later on they came out with pentium M (s479) as replacement.
In that case , the intel spec finder link ( provided by ongbs) is wrong as pentium M should be s479

Edited: To other forumers,
kindly stop all the useless bashing , these won't help in solving the problem. Thank you smile.gif

Edited again:
Sorry, nothing wrong with the intel spec finder. S479 cpu has 478 pin, that's correct

someone look at the processor and please quote the exact stepping and model number of the proc.

Then crosscheck with intel. I am sure it will reveal the correct make/model of the proc.

Post it here so that experts can check it up.

Anyway I personally think seller should be responsible cause he sold it saying it s478 which it isn't. No matter intel site or whichever site says it's wrong. It's not his fault that he didn't know it's s479. But still need to take responsible. Buyer on the other hand buy the item KNOWING and expecting and wanting it to be s478. So, not only he is not at fault, it is his DEMAND. Maybe he scream or shouted at the seller but some people do get angry because i wanted to buy apple but got orange. Perhaps it's not nice for buyer to shout at seller but seller should still be responsible.

Seller can't just put the blame on source of his information even if it's from manufacturer. And seller unable to cope with this kind of customers then better don't do business because this kind of customers will always be around.

my bad, i made a mistake just now by saying the intel spec finder contains wrong info sweat.gif
I just figure it out, s479 cpu has 478 pin as well. ( Can refer to the link provided by TS at 1st post laugh.gif )
S479 = 478 pin , S478 = 478 pin , S478 and 478 pin can be different stories.

My sales thread do post actual pic of the actual processor!
here it go smile.gif

The stepping printed on proc is:
SL7S9

"Seller can't just put the blame on source of his information even if it's from manufacturer. And seller unable to cope with this kind of customers then better don't do business because this kind of customers will always be around."

you mean all web info about this processor is wrong? Prove to us that "478-pin micro-FCPGA packing" is wrong.

some info differentiate between S478 and S479
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_479

last time i almost get the same scenario like ongbs's case to sell my laptop SD ram...
the buyer ask for laptop SD Ram for his friend, he said confirm used for laptop and SD ram interface...
i tell him double confirm with his friends and take my picture to confirm the ram's leg able to slot in...
guess what he say the laptop's ram slot is desktop's ram slot (if no mistaken) sweat.gif
i dont know he say the truth or not lah or dont want to buy from me...
but at least free hassle for refund issues... win-win solutions...
maybe seller should take little responsibilities that dont have re-inform again with buyer about his CPU only for laptop...
just my tiny cents... smile.gif

Dear seller..,

Please refund this buyer money as you clearly mislead the buyer by stating it is a 478 pin processor.

Refunding it smoothly will only clear back your name  and just admit is as your typo mistake..

Refusing to refund.. will only add your name to the Buyers beware conmen list .. and this will not help you at all..

remember..

Reputation take ages to built but only a simple mistake to ruin it..

my processor is 478 pins. Go check Intel site.
It is not typo...I retype a gain, it is 478 pin package micro-FCPGA.

clearly it's seller's fault

1st) he said that he put a picture stated that he already post the pic, it's buyer fault not to see picture clearly.
socket 478 and 479 basically same, impossible for buyer to count all the pins base on the picture itself sweat.gif

2nd) he put wrong description. as a seller we do have responsiblity to put correct description for our thread.
buyers can claim for refund if they found out the seller's description is incorrect, you can check our own malaysian consumers law for it, clearly stated.

3rd)if seller put wrong description and refuse to refund you can lodge a report against him . 1st u need to lodge a report at nearby police station, and after that u need to bring the report to lodge another report against the seller at consumer department, they will review your case after that, if your claim found genuine, they will take legal action against seller,no lawyer is needed

4th) after u lodge the report at consumer dep, you can consult with your lawyer to take legal action against him also...if u want to.
sweat.gif

but my point of view....solve this peace...

for seller, you have to refund him
*
bro ||||||???
you keep on saying "seller's fault"..., can you show me which description I wrote wrongly?
Check through your profile, you are a popular seller, why jump to conclusion that fast?

well, pic is important as for lappy, coz pros got many types.
I didn't count the pin too...who will huh?
I just check a few website and all look same in specs wise, I just paste from there!

I didn't put wrong description, correct me if wrong.
All description from Intel site and I don't think it is wrong!

Report to police? I got con by a few sellers, money bank in but seller don't know where now!
Many buyers reported, does it help? I doubt...
"Mohd Sharilwan's thread is one good example.

Report to consumer dep?
well if this buyer wanna report, what to tell them? I sold wrong item to him? Did I do that?

Thank you for your simple understanding sentense "i wanted to buy apple but got orange" and yes I am angry because the seller mislead me and cause all this troubles and refuse to refund my money. I am a human too so I'll get angry too who wont? And seller dont talk like you are very nice and polite (what kind of seller who argue with buyer I qwant to ask?) ongbs you are a very bad temper also from what I sense from your atittude.
Did you get the proc next day? I don't know as you didn't reply all my sms, not even a single sms nor my calls!
Think before you speak up. I never promise to answer any of your calls or sms and I am really out of credit at that moment even with credit when I am in working hour, my boss do not allow any of his staff talking to his/her private handphone so I usually off it.

[QUOTE-ongbs]bro, you need to check my sales thread description and all info/descriptions provided by intel, show me where I i put wrong description?
Did Intel mention this proc is 479-pin?
Don't judge me again as you don't know me, if you polite since beginning I won't write/talk to you that way.
I got pissed off by you more than those con men that con me!

Still my simple words : "be polite if you need others to treat you that way".

You try to dig out any of my thread that I am not "polite" enough?
try to find is there any ppl reply in my thread that I am bad temper or make them angry?
