Which area is more lively and interesting, university of melbourne or UNSW?

Hi all... From what I hear, UNSW's more "lively" as you'd put it... laugh.gif

For me, choosing will be influenced by the city as well. I mean like, Sydney's pretty much the most expensive place to live in! Im getting tired of paying the high rents =.=

Never visited Melbourne uni before, can anyone give me a tour there? biggrin.gif So cant really tell which is better if comparing just by the unis themselves. Got heaps more to take account to as well u know.

RMIT is literally in the middle of the city right? But the buildings are scattered around if Im not mistaken. Unimelb is old, hence RMIT is like UTS; Unimelb is like Unisyd.

Btw, is choosing a uni based from its lively-ness, is ur only concern Kwang Hui?

RMIT has a couple of campuses lying around... There is indeed one near the city along Swanston St, but there's also one in Bundoora which is quite far away.

Lively or not hehe.. depends loh... the whole Melbourne city can be lively or dead, depending on your interests (and also friends).

It depends on you.

Lively or not have nothing much to do with the city.

huh?! well ive been to sydney twice....twice oso nth to do.....damn boring...how about that?! oh im from monash uni....VIC....

Added on October 19, 2008, 10:10 amwell it can get personal when it comes to syd vs melb rivalry thing...well ive got affected too... melb is much better when it comes to events....alot of stuffs are held here...say the race that stops the nation..Melb Cup, Aussie Open, the 1st grand slam event of the year, Australian F1 GP, 1st event of the F1 calander usually....what else ah?

oh the transport system, city layout trumps sydney's anytime....cheaper too....it has a more European feel to the city as well...no Cronulla racist rubbish....beaches are safe (no jellyfish / shark attack bullcrap), home to the AFL but at the same time can still teach those NSW fellas the right way to play rugby league (Melb Storm has kicked NSW / Qld teams assess for so many times i cant even remember and the sport is not even a fav here!)....biggest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere is over here too....chadstone....

i think the night life here is better, as u should know how the whole melb shuffle started from here...u dont hear no 'sydney opera house shuffle' ever do u? rolleyes.gif

yes alot depends on the individual......and also ur personal definition of 'lively'.....

Unfortunately Storm just lost the league to Sydney, totally outplayed. At least for AFL it was a all VIC finals, Hawthorn vs Geelong.

Upcoming A-League Melbourne VS Sydney for those interested, in the Telstra Dome.

Sydney... hmm... felt overrated with it. I agree that Melbourne City is smaller, but it is way more organised. Sydney is like a big mess, didn't really fancy it coupled with the outrageous transport cost like literally forcing you to get weekly or monthly tics. Kudos to Metlink 2 hour/daily zone 1,2 system although there are talks regarding it gonna be so breaking down soon. I must give it up to Sydney for having a slight edge in food with Hurricane and Seoul etc. or maybe I'm just biased being sick of what there is in Melbourne.

And scenery... well. Not really a fan although I did like Darling Harbour and Opera house. I felt Crown was livelier than Star but I guess this was a timing thing perhaps considering I've been to Crown Casino countless of time and only twice in Star.
