dem, forgot my australian history...
The first fleet arrived in Port Stephens in 1788, led by Capt James Cook. Thats why they have this Australia Day and Aboriginals celebrate Black day on the same day. Ehem, so yeh, Sydney was found first.

Wah, rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne. Sydney's pretty much the most expensive place to study in whole Australia lah. The only state that doesnt give international students concession rate on transportation, I think. Im tired of paying the full fares.

I think Melbourne is the most balance city in Australia. Not too expensive like Sydney but not too boring like Perth or Adelaide.

been to sydney twice = you dont stay in syd long enough so...

in terms of events..we have interesting+cheaper events...google up lah

in terms of city layout...you cant blame cuz sydney is found earlier than melb...so it it not as well planned as melb...

in terms of night life...its about the person you are with...not pub crawling etc

for the examples of what i say google up lah
crown...thats if you really want to gamble all the time lah...if u have luck you can win money anywhere...my friend won in that small jupiter casino in surfers paradise...

probably we need to stay in all these places long enough...to know whats around
*
wah good advice....same applies to ur comment bout melb.... icon_rolleyes.gif

eh u sure boh.....these VIC state govt oso never giv concession1......if one day i get PR or work here i srsly wanna file tax return....more like concession return.....coz their reason behind locals getting concessions coz they are future tax payers.....knnbccb..... vmad.gif vmad.gif

then subsidize all the ang moh young ppl here....then when they come of age ready to work....all go middle east....so much for calling them future tax payer....paying tax to those arab sheikhs got lar.....whu cares bout ruddy 07...

QUOTE(Sesshoumaru @ Oct 19 2008, 10:28 AM)
Sydney... hmm... felt overrated with it. I agree that Melbourne City is smaller, but it is way more organised. Sydney is like a big mess, didn't really fancy it coupled with the outrageous transport cost like literally forcing you to get weekly or monthly tics. Kudos to Metlink 2 hour/daily zone 1,2 system although there are talks regarding it gonna be so breaking down soon. I must give it up to Sydney for having a slight edge in food with Hurricane and Seoul etc. or maybe I'm just biased being sick of what there is in Melbourne.

And scenery... well. Not really a fan although I did like Darling Harbour and Opera house. I felt Crown was livelier than Star but I guess this was a timing thing perhaps considering I've been to Crown Casino countless of time and only twice in Star.
*
is that the place for the prok ribs stuff?? the one somewhere in that darling harbour place? unsure.gif unsure.gif unsure.gif

Sigh, all these ignorant comments. You guys ever heard of the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side"?

Those who spent the majority of their time in Sydney will get bored of it and will find Melbourne more attractive, but try staying and studying in Melbourne and you'll discover that there really isn't much more that Melbourne has to offer.

Sydney is fine in itself, but is not at its full potential due to the incompetent state government that has pretty much screwed up in so many respects. Despite what Melbournians will say about culture, Sydney will remain the central economic and financial hub in the Southern Hemisphere, so major businesses will still be based here and attracting the largest proportion of the skilled workforce.
