kfthoo, thanks for the highlight. I guess not many people use Panny DVDP here.
Iwanted to get the DVD S54 but it had no optical out so had to go for Pioneer 410.

Thanks for the summary!
As I was just about to ask which player would be the best buy right now. biggrin.gif

Earlier I set my eyes on the Philips.. at RM330 I think it's a good price. I think I saw it at Carrefour.
having read the specifications on the box, I did not recalled the capabilities of playing SACD or DVD-A..
Eventhough I do not have any related software to that it would be nice to have it for future 'growth'.. tongue.gif

Anybody have any comments? Thanks!

I agree, if were to buy Pioneer DV6110, PS3 is an alternative that should not be neglected.
However, i heard that PS3 is not a good player for playing VCD though sweat.gif any comment on that?
If that's true, at least those HDMI player will be a better companion for VCD..anyhow of course switching to the DVD is a must..but sometimes still some of those good movies not found in DVD, so turning into the VCD is unavoidable.

And also true though, someone give me a big hit..a good hit anyway that to buy the HDMI Player top up with Home Theater Component system, as we know that somehow in time we might want to change player to blu-ray or upgrade the player, buying the HTIB in box might get us into trouble when we want to do that, as the speaker point might not be the same, and thus buying a component home theater will avoid this problem

However we do know that the famous brand home theater component system always are very expensive due to the combining of AV receiver, good speakers...etc....and thus i am now very interested in the SONY recent out HTF2300 and by reading the specs, it interests me more as some of the specs are really future proof, and still the price is between RM1600-RM1700 and thus buying this add up with the good HDMI player will play the same role as HTIB, but offer alternative that in future if we would like to upgrade the player, we can do that with ease and no complications at all.

One question though, is combining the same company, say SONY HDMI player with SONY HTF2300, will have more benefit or any better quality in whatever compare to using PHILIP HDMI player with SONY HTF2300. Have heard about little bit of compatible signal issue, but is that REALLY any difference?

Don't need the audio decoder seeing that I will mate the player with a AVR later. Now I'm only outputting through the LCD TV's speaker.

Actually very easy to decide....

If you need SACD...buy Pioneer DV610
If you need BD...buy PS3
If you don't need both...you can't go wrong with either Sony 708, Pioneer DV410 or Philip 5996. They are all very good HDMI 1080p player.

On personal experience, Pioneer DV600 (or the new DV610) has a very good PQ and not just because it support SACD. If you get this player, consider SACD/DVD-A support as a bonus. What you are actually getting is the excellent PQ that rival the more expensive RM1500 Denon 1940.

Avsforum said they are about the same. I can't say coz I never own DV410. My comparison is between DV600, Denon 1940 and Philip 5986k. Again if you don't need SACD, you can't go wrong with DV410.

Go to AEON website and get all the Jusco contact close to you. Call them and ask if they have any Pioneer DVDP in stock. Good luck.

But if DV610 pair with the Home Theater component, the new Sony HTF2300, will it be an advantage or disadvantage? or just anything to consider?

Any better Home Theater Component system that can pair with this gem (DV610)?

The important thing is DV610 won't be picky on discs will do..because still ahem dvd is the major baby play inside..wink.gif

No prob la. Just use HDMI to connect the two (to play DVD or CD la...I'm not sure that Sony got 5.1 analog-in or not for full capabilities of playing SACD). So far my DV600 plays anything I throw at it. Be it original R1, R3 or ahem disc (don't have original R2 tongue.gif )
