RM 1k is not expensive for a f1.4 prime lens. If RM1.8k, it borders my budget for a good lens but I'm sure the price will come down.

IMHO, I won't mind paying slightly more for the premium lenses. I've said it before - you get much more than just HSM/AFS. Expensive lenses means SLD & multi-coated glasses, better sharpness, and usually a better build (internal focus, no moving parts, all-sealed body, metal mount, damped focusing ring, etc). Remember HSM/AFS gives much more than just auto-focus - it gives fast & silent auto focus.

Ermm US$700 is above the RM2k barrier. RM1k is not expensive for the current f1.4, that I agree. Heck, you can get it below RM1k anyway.

RM2.4k for a 50mm f1.4 AFS is expensive to me. If they are really selling it at US$700.

Here's the link : http://nikonrumors.com/2008/08/10/new-niko...-september.aspx

EURO 650 (Around 600 - 700 USD)

Unless the new lens is something revolutionary, otherwise just get a motor-in-body camera and buy the older but very much cheaper 50 f1.4. Btw, the Sigma version is RM 1,850.

So the Nikon would prolly cost the same as the Sigma...  shakehead.gif

IMO, a stupid HSM/AF-S isn't worth the extra RM 1k.

One can say the same thing with mediocre camera + good optics wink.gif

If both are equally the same, my personal 2 sen is to go for good optics/lens because they depreciate only a little over time. Not so true for a good body. The D300 for example has dropped tremendously after its initial launch. Use to be very difficult to find anything for less than 5k 2nd hand. Nowadays it hovers around 4.4k for those with a couple of months of warranty left.

and lenses weight more in photo quality than camera body..

but if the af-s 50mm really 2.4k, i think i will go for the 105mm VR, at least i can do macro and portrait with that..

well.. that's if i have the money lah.. haha.. lol.

It's called the D60. ;p

The D40X has already stopped production I believe, and the D40 will too at the end of this year. I believe Nikon will move for the D60 to take over the D40's market.

It'll prolly look something like this :

D60 => D80 => D90 => D300 => D700 => D3 => D3X

hehe thanks! rclxm9.gif

basically the sb400 isnt really peoples choice because of the not so powerful flash... if you said you wanna use it outdoors, whats the use of having a sb400 when you cant bounce the flash ler? better just use direct flash smile.gif
*
Use a diffuser for fill flash, of course. DIY it if you have to.

I wonder what other new releases will we see from Third Party Lens manufacturers come Photokina... what with Nikon releasing so many new bodies, lenses, and Canon/Sony pretty much doing the same as well.

focus breathing i think he means is when u turn the focusing ring slightly, the image / composition in a frame changes alot..

like with my kit lens, i notice the frame coverage changes abit when i use focus to different distance.
