QUOTE(acougan @ Oct 5 2008, 11:02 PM) kerollowyat, the password can only protect ur PSN account from logging in .... u afraid your housemates use your PS3 when u not around w/o your permission? tip: take your DS3 or all your games in a CD folder with u when u go out True2..I dont want anyone to use or even turn it on, when I'm not around. I'm thinking of hiding the power cable. So, can not turn it on.

Hopefully in the future, there will be option to put password. In the next firmware update. It's not only friend, my "anak buah" is my biggest concern. They always mess up thins that dont belong to them. Even the game disc, I also concern. I told them not to, they said ok. But then, they do it..

QUOTE(Neo_Y @ Oct 5 2008, 10:33 PM) Like I said, our MYSony Centre will only know how to fix and repair Malaysia PS3. All the technician will be trained to perform the troubleshooting and mechanical work BASED ON our local set PS3. What to do... Uhm... all PS3s in its own revision are made the same worldwide. If they know how to fix a "MY PS3", they'll know how to fix any other PS3s in the world. More over, our MY set isn't even local to begin with. Its a HK model, brought into here and given the license as well as policy to sell it as a local PS3. In any case, Sony MY now cover PS3 lens as well I think.

Well not really. Just refrain from keeping your disc inside your PS3 for a few days. I know there are people who does this and theres no problem as well.
Just a precaution either way. Because the Blu-Ray lens immediately reads a disc if theres one inside, giving more wear and tear to it. The Blu-Ray lens are ironically(atleast at the moment), more fragile than traditional red-laser lenses.
So best turn off Auto-Run PS3 game under your PS3 settings.

Only if you move the PS3 around, that may hurt the lens. QUOTE(mike86 @ Oct 6 2008, 12:40 AM) a noobie question as i dint find any from 1st page if leaving the BD games inside the ps3 and turn off the console without eject the BD out, will it harm the console?

Hi guys, so basically the background download function works like the 360 one? I can just initiate the download, turn off the console and walk off?

yes, the b/g dloading process is similar.
only difference, on the 360 u can d/load in "low-power mode" and can set it to auto-shut-off when d/load is done (no such option on ps3) and the ps3 d/loaded files need to be "manually" installed before playing. another difference, u can log off PSN and it still works (watching DVDs and BDs will pause it though) and queue more stuff too.

^if u play offline games, the b/g d/loading process will likely continue.
when u sign in to PSN for MP gaming session, it will auto-pause, no worries.

QUOTE(meloswer @ Oct 6 2008, 02:56 PM) thanks, and by the way will the download stop if i play a game? nope. most downloads will continue downloading in the background when you're gaming. you can also check on your download status during gaming, just press the PS button and go to download management. but sometimes during gaming, you'll see that the download won't complete and will be stuck at 99% and it says pending. that's okay. once you exit the game, it completes 100%.

QUOTE(meloswer @ Oct 6 2008, 03:35 PM) happy to hear that, and 1 more question can i sign in to the other psn account but i download the demo using another account My primary ID is a UK account. I straighaway changed to my UK account after downloading from the US store (set as background download). Once the background download has been initiated, you are free to sign in to other account, play games or even turn off the console. It will continue downloading
