so regarding hdmi:

ps3's at the moment are equipped with hdmi 1.3, so you have the options of RGB Full Range being optimized. so to take advantage of hdmi 1.3, i must specifically have a hdmi 1.3 cable?

or are all hdmi cables the same?

hey i got a prob i can't seem to solve sad.gif

my audio is channeled out using HDMI to my lcd monitor, and i've connected 3.5mm audio cable from lcd monitor audio output to my 2.1 speakers.

i get good sound, but the only problem is it has this fading in effect whenever anything with audio starts. and the fading in usually starts a few seconds late. so if let's say i load a game which has an opening movie, the movie will play with no sound at all first, and then after a few seconds, the sound comes fading in from soft, right up to normal volume. so usually i'll miss the first few seconds of audio. it's nothing big but it's getting abit annoying, especially when there's in-game cutscenes and you want to catch the dialogue in the beginning.

same effect happens in the XMB front panel. when i move around my cursor to the different icons slowly, no sound. but when i start moving fast enough, making it generating more sound back to back, then the fading in starts.

any idea how to solve this?

much appreciated smile.gif

^ i'm not familiar with lcd monitor and how their HDMI pass-through works, mb there's some settings u need to adjust on ur lcd?

anyway, i suggest u connect the PS3 output sound directly to the 2.1 speaker and see if the problem recurs. use a Y-adaptor, picts are on 1st page.

alright, thanks mate. i've just downloaded and installed the new v2.43 for ps3 earlier this morning, but haven't tested the audio yet. will try later to see if it was a bug-related issue. if it's not, then i'll get the y-adaptor.

thanks, and by the way will the download stop if i play a game?
*
nope. most downloads will continue downloading in the background when you're gaming. you can also check on your download status during gaming, just press the PS button and go to download management.

but sometimes during gaming, you'll see that the download won't complete and will be stuck at 99% and it says pending. that's okay. once you exit the game, it completes 100%. smile.gif

neways, ps3 games are already on blu-ray discs themselves. wouldn't make any sense if blu-ray movies would degrade your lens while your blu-ray games won't.

hi guys, having trouble downloading game patches using the ps3 proxy server from the link on the first page. both my laptop and my ps3 are connected wirelessly to a router.

here's a rundown of what i did:

1. checked my laptop's ip address via command prompt -> ipconfig
2. entered my laptop's ip address in the "proxy setting" tab of the ps3.proxyserver.gui program.
3. ticked ps3 and clicked start.

4. setup my connection on ps3 manually
5. DNS and MTU all set to automatic
6. In proxy settings, i put my laptop's ip address

so in the connection test, the ps3 managed to connect to the router and acquire an ip address, but failed establishing an internet connection.
cannot sign in to PSN and browser not loading.
and can't download any patches (LBP, Home).
no activity in the "Logs" tab of the ps3.proxyserver.gui program.

oh btw, i'm using Vista, with .net framework 1.1 installed. turned off windows firewall too.

anybody knows how to work this out?

thanks!
