been trying using polish but still cannot shine like other parts. or maybe i need to polish a little bit longer like 30-45 minutes at the trunk surface till its hot? I'm using machine one. Dun have the meguiars polish (except, polymer sealant, show car glaze). i use polyglaze.

i sand using 1500 grit to get rid some minor scratch at bumper and polish it and it works. just not sure really need to sand the whole trunk or not just by oxidation
*
wah..u really daring do sanding ya self. blink.gif blink.gif . U use what to polish?..polymer sealent?..show car glaze?...those 2 product is not mean for polishing lar.

you did stated that ya truck got oxidation..get ColorX then. that should solve the problem

Meguiars Show Car actually is a polishing substance but not at early stage. at first i sand with 1500 sand paper, then use the polyglaze cut and polish. after that using polyglaze diamond finish, then using the show car. to protect i'm using polymer sealant and carnauba wax.

colorX is from turtle wax ar?

yes, i'm sanding myself to remove some scratch on bumper. but dont sand it too much or otherwise cat will tanggal as most bumper the paint is not that thick compare to the body/fender parts

currently sanding using my barehand only without the sanding machine. so far so good. but still worry to sand the whole trunk...trunk but not truck!

hey now days always rain, so washing the car too often is a waste of time rite?
but then the car get even dirty after a long week, the thing is while scrubing the car with a cloth, the amout of dirt will surely make your car get a minor scratch. Am i rite?

so my question is how to prevent from it to get a minor scratch and what type of cloth is the best to deal with this kind a prob?

and one more thing, after raining rite if u don't wash ur car it will leave a mark which if u let it be for a long time it will turn into stain. Washing is the only solution for it i think, therefore i need you guys to tell me the type of cloth which can solve the 1st prob and this prob of mine smile.gif

currently i'm using this orange cloth which absorb the water. Do u think this cloth is the best to prevent these minor scratch?

Thank you!! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Use a good wash mitt like the one in the picture below. Available at ENEOS 1 Utama for about RM50.00. A bit pricey but worth it and lasts a long time too. Use a mitt as it holds a lot of soapy water and is very gentle to your paint. Sponges, while they hold just as much if not more water, don't have much 'give' in them. Meaning that if you pick up a tiny stone it won't recess into the sponge like it would with a mitt and therefore it scratches your paint surface. It is also more likely that you could drop a sponge, as it is not attached like the mitt to your hand. So if and when u do drop the sponge you have to rinse it free from any debris. (as we all know this can happen a number of times when you wash your car) One feature we love with the Mitt is the way you can stick your hose into the open end of the mitt, turn it on and as the water streams out quickly, it thoroughly cleans the mitt. This is great for when you have finished and in case you somehow drop the mitt.

Use the "Two-Bucket Method" to wash the car. One bucket with soapy water while another bucket with just plain water. Start washing the car and once you have finished a panel, submerge the mitt into the pure water bucket and rinse it by shaking it vigorously before placing it back into the wash bucket. Gather as much water and suds as your mitt can carry, then reapply to the next panel. Repeat this process, washing every panel on the car. This way any sand, grit and road grime will fall into the bucket with the clear water and you can be assured that the soapy water is clean before you put in on your car.

There is no real gimmick, you just minimise the chances of washing your car with contaminated water/ wash. It dramatically minimises your chances of accidentally picking up some debris from one part of the car and rubbing it all over the rest.

Hello to everybody....

First of all, I want to apologies I'm not a car's devotion, however I need to know something about car.

I want to know about Mitsubushi FTO....
1) As I know, the last model of FTO was released at 2004. Am I right? Currently the said car is still under production?
2) How much was FTO cost in 2004 and 2005?
3) As I know FTO have 1600cc and 2000cc, does the car has a high consumption of petrol? Do the higher cc engine (of a car) need higher consumption of petrol?
4) Does the maintenance fee high for FTO?
5) Does second hand FTO reliable?

Thank you.

anyway..one more advice.

if your objective is to get swirl free body paint. then don't drive your car out and leave it under shade for the rest of your life. I read that there are alot of detailers almost talking about swirl free after doing polishing and so on. how they get the swirl free is becoz they do sanding..and most of the time you will get superb result..but do remember..your lacquer coat is thinner now..and the worse thing..next 2 weeks down the road..the swirl is back as u drive the car along and washing it from time to time. even if u are using the best mitts and best microfiber cloth in the world..the swirl will come back in no time. although you can minimize the swirl by using those clothes..the swirl will be there no matter what you do..unless is a show car that u don't drive and always under shade

my point is. to get a swirl free on a daily driven car or even weekly car is a waste. in out climate..protection is more important than getting swirl free.

Basically, claying is to prep and clean ur car surface only, it DOESNT protect your paint. Eg: Feel ur car surface (wif ur fingers) after a wash, if u feel its not smooth den u need to clay .. after a clay session ur paints feels as smooth as a babies arse tongue.gif no joke tongue.gif

If you wan ur polish as well as wax to work well, claying and proper surface pred shud not be forsaken ...

Wat you have there is juz a polish ... in fact u shud get Meg's ColorX which works even better .. IMHO

After u wash and clay ur car, you will polish and then u will wax it. There are so many brands and types of wax available juz oni how u wan ur ca to b like lo ...
But its very true tat cheap thing no good n good thing no cheap ... But you will be satisfied wif the results of products like Meguairs or AutoGlym or Zaino ... http://www.autopia-carcare.com/meg-g-12718.html (im letting go only 1 bottle cheaper den market price, pm if interested, will guide u thru oso)

I would say long term its a good investment la ... so its up to the consumers to think of the feasibilities then wink.gif

my 5 cents

Swirl means the light minor circular scratches that you see when you look at the paint on your car against the sun light.

If you truly want to prepare your paint surface for the products you are using, my answer will be yes, you need to clay your car. It makes a hell of a difference and you will be able to feel the difference once you clay your car.

[edit] And nycs82 is not joking. It feels even smoother than babies backside!

i just got swirls on my car boot cos of the guys at the accessory shop recommended me a wrong product. my car is pearl white. i bought a japanese product called soft 99 wax. they hv 2 types. one in blue can & the other is the stainless steel can. both r meant for different kind of paint. i took the guy's words & bought the blue one as recommended by him. so i applied it on my car boot just to test it. after tht, i realise i got swirls all over the boot. i only realise the instructiion said to use only on solid paints & not on metallic paints. but too late liau.....
the following day, i went to check out the stainless steel can & the instructions says for metallic & pearl paints & safe for use, won't harm paint. i bought it & tried removing the swirls but can't.
really kek sim cos my car not even a mth old. now i dun even dare to wax my car. i even bought 2 soft 99 stainless steel cans.....sigh.
Any idea how to remove the swirls? it's really bad when u look at an angle under bright light.
i wana DIY car detailing but now just to afraid my hurt the paint work again.
i just realise sponge is not good for car wash after reading this thread.
hope bros here can build up my confidence again.
tq in advance for any kind advice & guidance.
