QUOTE(Jackie Leong @ Jun 21 2005, 04:27 PM) boonhong, There is no way that you can eliminate the find scratches. Unless, you put ya car at home for showcase most of the time and don't wash often. Even though if u send to car care centre and ask for sanding service, after a few washes the scratches will appear back. So, getting a fine scratchless surface while you use your car often, park outside, wash often...then this scratchless dream is just another dream. Just my 20centsame problem.. i spent 6 hours, wash, polish (1layer), hose with water n wipe off with cloth, wax (1 layer), hose with water n wipe off with cloth.. still fine scratches are there.. =/ |

QUOTE(eddyann @ Sep 12 2005, 12:44 PM) Some part of the trunk got some oxidation abit but not 'chalky' yet. Is it necassary to use the sanding technique (1500 grit) then polish it? no need to sand..just get some polish will do..if the polish doesn't work then only sand. Sanding is use if last resort only.. |

QUOTE(eddyann @ Sep 12 2005, 02:51 PM) been trying using polish but still cannot shine like other parts. or maybe i need to polish a little bit longer like 30-45 minutes at the trunk surface till its hot? I'm using machine one. Dun have the meguiars polish (except, polymer sealant, show car glaze). i use polyglaze. wah..u really daring do sanding ya self. i sand using 1500 grit to get rid some minor scratch at bumper and polish it and it works. just not sure really need to sand the whole trunk or not just by oxidation you did stated that ya truck got oxidation..get ColorX then. that should solve the problem This post has been edited by lonewolf: Sep 14 2005, 10:30 AM |

anyway..one more advice.
if your objective is to get swirl free body paint. then don't drive your car out and leave it under shade for the rest of your life. I read that there are alot of detailers almost talking about swirl free after doing polishing and so on. how they get the swirl free is becoz they do sanding..and most of the time you will get superb result..but do remember..your lacquer coat is thinner now..and the worse thing..next 2 weeks down the road..the swirl is back as u drive the car along and washing it from time to time. even if u are using the best mitts and best microfiber cloth in the world..the swirl will come back in no time. although you can minimize the swirl by using those clothes..the swirl will be there no matter what you do..unless is a show car that u don't drive and always under shade my point is. to get a swirl free on a daily driven car or even weekly car is a waste. in out climate..protection is more important than getting swirl free. |

QUOTE(satigue @ Jan 5 2006, 07:38 PM) i just got swirls on my car boot cos of the guys at the accessory shop recommended me a wrong product. my car is pearl white. i bought a japanese product called soft 99 wax. they hv 2 types. one in blue can & the other is the stainless steel can. both r meant for different kind of paint. i took the guy's words & bought the blue one as recommended by him. so i applied it on my car boot just to test it. after tht, i realise i got swirls all over the boot. i only realise the instructiion said to use only on solid paints & not on metallic paints. but too late liau..... swirls mark depends how depth is the mark...go to Ace Hardware and get ya self ScratchX...and a bottle of NXT wax...that should be sufficient enuff...so you have learn your lesson..do not trust any sales man..the following day, i went to check out the stainless steel can & the instructions says for metallic & pearl paints & safe for use, won't harm paint. i bought it & tried removing the swirls but can't. really kek sim cos my car not even a mth old. now i dun even dare to wax my car. i even bought 2 soft 99 stainless steel cans.....sigh. Any idea how to remove the swirls? it's really bad when u look at an angle under bright light. i wana DIY car detailing but now just to afraid my hurt the paint work again. i just realise sponge is not good for car wash after reading this thread. hope bros here can build up my confidence again. tq in advance for any kind advice & guidance. |
