the technical spec of hitachi inverter aircond is somewhat similar to toshiba inverter aircond.

it is a nice product with 2 years indoor +7 years motor warranty.

A simple calculation is by multiplying your room area by 60(less heated room) and 80(for heated room) and u get btu/hr and match the number with ac spec

Or u can get an engineer to get better number... How many ppl in from, no of windows, computer, living/bedroom/living room etc

I'm planning to get an aircond for my living room. Living in small terrace house, with approximately 160 sqft in the living room, connected to kitchen, but got some arch-type pathway in between. Will close all other rooms' doors & blinds at the front.

I live in Kangar, Perlis, thus the weather is really hot & unforgiving. So after doing some research, I've decided to get a non-inverter 1.5 hp aircond. My daily usage would be like this:

5 hrs every weekdays from 7pm-12am
~12 hrs every weekend from 12pm-12am

So which brand I should get? Many people say York, some say Panasonic?

Thanks for helping out.

PS - With my current average electricity bills around ~RM40, after getting this aircond, how much is the increment you guys think?

Guys how bout Daikin Air-cond le ???

got a price for

1HP non inverter = Rm1k inclusive installation
1HP inverter = Rm1350 inclusive installation
1.5HP inverter = Rm1.7k inclusive installation

and as per the sales person, Daikin Inverter can use normal gas which means it save up on the service side versus normal inverter which cost more using different gas...

any idea / suggestion / view ?

The hot weather make us appreciate our aircon more. Last week i decided take a good
look at my room a/c panasonic 1hp. The air flow is coming from one side only and quite
weak. After poking around managed to remove the outer cover and exposed the fan, coil
and water tray. It was last full serviced 1 year ago but i was shocked at the condition inside.
the blower fan blades was covered by furry dirt. Some areas of the coil looks like a mushroom farm
but the most disgusting was the slime and jelly dripping from the cooling coil into the water tray.
Our aircon looks nice and clean outside but inside it is a germ factory and we breath the air every night.
Anyway i bought some non toxic aircon cleaning spray from hardware shop and clean the aircon myself
First time so a bit messy but results quite good. Cold and strong air after service. cost me RM30.00
only . Got 2 more units to clean another day.
Manufacturers recommend service every 3 mths but i feel 6mth minor service and every year
full chemical service is minimum for good health. (also buy a separate air purifier for added protection)

I always use dettol or any antibacterial cleaner to spray at the condenser to clean it. Doing this every month when clean the filter.

And tilt the aircon more to the drain pipe. So the condense water don't remain at the drainer and dry fast.

Blower flurry is very norm.

From experience,
It depended on your environment.

My house living area air-cond's blower is always full of "fur" every 2-3 months time, as living area got window and exposed to roadside.
While in the room air-cond which window is not facing the major road, (side), the blower still clean after 6 months.

Jelly dripping, fungus grow inside, means water drainage is not good enough.
Some installers installed not tilt enough to let the water flow nicely, a experienced installers should use the water level to adjust and air-cond is not supposed to be installed too "horizontal:
Also, it can be due to dirt clogging the drainage.

hi, i read the jintexelectronic website, saw the sanyo and sharp air con selling very cheap. But how reliable for this 2 brands? Sharp basic inv 1.5 - rm1188, sanyo inv 1.5 - 1288.
Sounds cheap compare with other brands. Mistral brand ok? selling 599 for 1.0 basic. Good for guest room.

If you add installation charges of rm300 for sanyo or sharp then Daikin 1.5hp only slightly more only.
Compare and see. I am actually interested in the sanyo 1.5 non inverter at rm1095 with installation.
My panasonic 2 hp already claimed 2 compressors now noisy again . The aircon only 5yrs. no more
panasonic for me.

Yes spraying Dettol is a good idea. Even properly installed the inside of the aircon will still be damp.
Some brands have self cleaning or anti mold feature where the blower continue to blow ( at very low
speed) for 1 hour after switch off to dry the coil. My Daikin has this function and i notice it is much
cleaner inside.

Added on June 1, 2011, 11:52 pmAll the different brands are competing by adding new features like plasma filters, ionisers
and what not but how do we know weather they are working? and how many of us
bother to replace those special filters. Electrolux even has vitamin c filter and gold plated
fins to combat bacteria. Actually i am quite impress with Electrolux aircon spec and if
they are as good as their washing machine it would be wonderful. Might get one soon.
