Like this our nice TV very dangerous right. May i know what generic brand he recommend?

Yes, there is a chance of leaking. My current unit once leaked ice water and dropped small ice cubes. It is a branded unit some more but gave plenty of headache. That's why I decided to go for generic brand with salesperson recommendation.

Hisense, from China. It is one of the biggest consumer brands for electrical items, but it is not very established in Malaysia. My only worry is the parts availability but it is very cheap ($800 RM with 10 feet piping and installation) so I just bought 5 units of 1 hp and 1 unit of 1.5 hp to try out.

Thanks. Between normally I see mostly living aircond install at tv above. I have think before buy worry aircond will leaking after few year. Any advise?

It is nice design/layout on paper.

But once air-cond getting old time, the position may cause hassle in term of leaking water (when drain pipe clogged with dust, quite common), want to to maintenance time or cleaning time, that TV set may be blocking the passage etc.
Not to mention the danger of leaking water drop into TV/electrical items.

From own experience and preference, I never want install air-cond above TV set in living and on top of bed.

Need some installation advise. I want install living aircond compressor behind my house but the salesman say if too long the aircond not very cool because piping too long. Is it true?
*
How long is long? There is a max distance for each compressor installation. Read the spec, also need to fill in mor gas if you want to go into Max length. This also depend how the installer install, some use good termal insulator the looses will be minimal. Many use normal insulator with put two pipe into same insulator, looses will be high.

If you want to put at the rear of your house, extend the a/c hp. If you intend to put 2.0, put 2.5.

If you are using a/c frequent like daily 8 hours or more, Wash the filter every 2 weeks, and service minimal once a year. This increase the a/c life span and reduce the risk of leaking. Is also good to blow the drain pipe to clear of the "jelly" build up when you service your a/c.

Also pipe need to be install correctly, pipe gradient is very critical.

I install mine on top of the TV, well i don't switch on switch on my living room a/c everyday, to me dripping really not an issue. If A/C need to be service, easu just move the TV away, mine just hook on the wall bracket. My uncle house also have a/c on top of TV, been using for so many years any not a sigle drop of water from A/C.

Your living room a/c, you intend to run long hours? If living room are open area the inverter may not be helpful if is at big area.

You can actually put inverter pipe, and use non inverter a/c

Hi there,

Wanna ask about portable aircond. Wanna ask which brand is recommended?
I know portable air cond is not as cold as the build in aircond but is it recommended to have one?

The reason I asked is I have 3 bedrooms without aircond and not utilised at this moment. So I plan to use it portable aircond so that I can move around wherever I want .

Thanks.
*
i was just like you, considering portable aircon and surveying around but you must know one thing, portable aircon is VERY NOISY and there's an exhaust hose that you will need to channel it to the outdoor to dispose the hot air. Unless you drill a hole on the wall or at the window, if u are just goin to leave it at the door by opening the door a bit, your room will never be cold, it will be mostly cooling only and that also with the condition the aircon is facing you.

Suggestion, why dun u set one of the bedroom as the guest room and fix a reasonable priced aircon there. So whenever there's guest all use that room la. ok what ? smile.gif

Mr Slim is by MELCO and Mistsubishi HEavy Industry is another entity that sell heavy duty aircon but cheaper.

Whoever told you that Mitsubishi Air Con won't cool down as much as they claim, there's only 3 reason :

1. They don't own a Mitsubishi Aircon before
2. They bought the wrong BTU and HP for the wrong size of the room
3. They are trying to sell you other brand tongue.gif

Very noisy mean like a machine vibrating sound?
I can't set specifically for the guest room as I wish to use it as I wish to use as my activities room (surf net, listening music and exercise room.

What's in my mind is i can use the portable aircond so that I'm more flexible to it where I can use in my dining place and main hall if guest come or hot.

Any suggestion or I just install one first then only decide later to install in other places. I just wonder if I wanna install couple if a/c, I believe I have to change the whole electric box to cater higher power in future.

2HP should be enough, but depand on how cool the room you want to be.
Since ur usage is 8 hours per day, try to get inverter AC and it will save on ur electric bill.
I am using 1HP, 1.5HP and 2HP Mitsubushi Mr Slim at my home, all working well, cools and silent.  thumbup.gif

QUOTE(willius @ Apr 11 2013, 12:14 PM)
From my humble opinion, do this first, calculate the BTU and then you can decide the right power needed for your aircon referring to the room space.

http://www.calculator.net/btu-calculator.html

My thought is, if you get a 2hp aircon, if in case after you full blast the aircon, the temperature that you felt is not the one u desired, there's nothing you can do about it but to live with it, but if you get a 2.5hp, if it's too cold, u still can adjust it to low. One of the reasoning i use to buy the 2.5hp Daikin.
*
Thanks for both of your reply. I checked the link willius gave and my btu is 31,000? So need like 3 hp aircon?
Anyway, I just bought the Mitsubishi 3D aircon 2hp and it cools really fast. I only set it to 26 degrees in the afternoon and by night, I can increase it to 27 degrees. I have to turn it on all day as the northern weather is scorching hot (can get as high as 41 degrees) and my sitting room happened to face the afternoon sun sad.gif .
The salesman says that it saves electricity but I haven't checked my bill consumption yet. Will report end of the month. Hopefully it's not too high. I'm also starting to plant trees for shades.
