Hisense is a Chinese brand. They do many different things, a bit like Haier or Samsung. No clue if it is good... but the price does look good.

Hey y'all
I have been doing a lot of research on aircon, but nowadays it's more or less the same la.
EXCEPT Mitsubishi and Daikin, good start and running current and silent.

Main thing about Aircon is to check on the start current and the running current. That's the main thing that affect the electric bill hehe.
So far I checked, this 2 brands got the lowest in running current.
And in term of silence, nothing can beat this two brand la.
In term of fast cold, YORK cools down the fastest but, when u r on full mode, u will be annoyed by the sound, especially when it disturb your tv volume.

Just installed a Daikin 2.5hp Rm2.6k with installation, a reference for all smile.gif

But someone mentioned up there and he's right, Daikin's design is really simple, creativity & innovative free in term of outlook !!
And the Outdoor unit is like a BIG LORRY, one big piece of machine compare to Mistsubishi which is more creative and compact design.

Why I buy Daikin then? Just try and see la, bekoz i know it's VERY COLD, tried that in my friend's house and i have already got a Mitsubishi and Panasonic.

So far, never fails me, my living room can be felt is cold and i only need to put 24-26 degree C. The power of the aircon fan wind from the living room i can feel the wind blow strong on me in my dining room. My aircon is fixed in my living room facing my dining room.

Hope this info helps ...... smile.gif

Thanks for sharing. By the way, which Mitsubishi are you refer to?  smile.gif

I bought a 1hp and a 1.5 hp Mr Slim, cooling, powerful yet silent.
But i bought it about 2-3 yrs ago when Mitsubishi Heavy Industry Service center is not established yet.

My bro bought a Mitsubishi Heavy Industry 1hp and a 1.5hp Mr Slim recently.
He claims the 1hp from Mitsubishi Heavy Industry cool down faster and performs well yet CHEAPER.

Mr Slim the good thing is, u can always keep your aircon clean bekoz u can DIY the cleaning for the indoor unit.

I just whack the brand given the low price that comes with free 10 ft piping and installation. My house will be a holiday house so that air-con might be only switched on for a few nights once every few months. Slightly under $800 RM per unit for 1 hp, slightly under $1000 RM for 1.5 hp and slightly around $1400 RM for 2 hp.  The LG is $70 RM more for 2hp, so I just took LG. Hope things turn out well.
*
Bro,
I am not trying to tarnish the image of any brand here but please choose anything but LG la, i have never heard good things about this brand BEFORE !
Nothing but quality problems in a lot of cases ........ cheap is their selling point, their design also quite awesome.
But then again, good things never come cheap, cheap things never come good right ?

Especially when u guys happily going for holiday in your holiday house and the aircon just break down, it's a BIG TURN OFF weh, hehe .........

Just my 2 cents.

changing piping means hacking walss rite?/
*
Bro,
No worries, a lot of ppl misunderstood about the refrigerant.
It is not the GAS which is running out but the AIRCON MODEL[I] that uses the R22 is PHASING OUT.
from 2014 onwards, Malaysia is enforcing a law to use a MORE environmental friendly aircon refrigerant R401a
But this doesn't mean we're not able to get the R22 gas anymore, it just we're not able to buy R22 type of Aircon anymore.

Whatever existing aircon using the R22 do not need to replace the piping or anything like that. Chill man ......

Hi,

I need your opinions regarding the quality and price of the aircon.. The price might be a little expensive in Perlis. I just came back from the aircon shop. Went to look for which air con to buy . House is too hot..Weather is around 41 degrees celcius!

I need one aircon for my sitting room which is 15 ft x 27 with direct sunlight. Is 2 HP enough? Usually one or 2 person only in my sitting room. I use the room like 8-9 hours per day.

I heard alot about Mitsubishi and the salesman showed me a normal mitsubishi  with 4 air flows 2HP around RM2299 including installation. Then there's another one 2HP mitsubishi 3D with 8 airflows ( meaning it flows to the  top, bottom, right, left and everywhere) around RM2699 including installation. The salesman says the 3D one saves energy and self cleaning.

Anyone using this mitsubishi 3D aircon? It is good and saves energy? Is the price too expensive? Should I get the normal mitsubishi at RM2299 or the 3D one?

Or panasonic better?

Thanks in advance smile.gif

From my humble opinion, do this first, calculate the BTU and then you can decide the right power needed for your aircon referring to the room space.

http://www.calculator.net/btu-calculator.html

My thought is, if you get a 2hp aircon, if in case after you full blast the aircon, the temperature that you felt is not the one u desired, there's nothing you can do about it but to live with it, but if you get a 2.5hp, if it's too cold, u still can adjust it to low. One of the reasoning i use to buy the 2.5hp Daikin.

Ask ur AC installer to check, those electrical shop just know how to sell AC only.
*
I seconded Titan, always ask an Aircon man, not the Electrical shop, there's a chinese saying "Goat Fur grow on the goat body" means whatever things that person sell, they will always say the brand that they sell is the best and in this case, its compatible. Only an Aircon man stays neutral, well ......... normally.

Hi there,

Wanna ask about portable aircond. Wanna ask which brand is recommended?
I know portable air cond is not as cold as the build in aircond but is it recommended to have one?

The reason I asked is I have 3 bedrooms without aircond and not utilised at this moment. So I plan to use it portable aircond so that I can move around wherever I want .

Thanks.
*
i was just like you, considering portable aircon and surveying around but you must know one thing, portable aircon is VERY NOISY and there's an exhaust hose that you will need to channel it to the outdoor to dispose the hot air. Unless you drill a hole on the wall or at the window, if u are just goin to leave it at the door by opening the door a bit, your room will never be cold, it will be mostly cooling only and that also with the condition the aircon is facing you.

Suggestion, why dun u set one of the bedroom as the guest room and fix a reasonable priced aircon there. So whenever there's guest all use that room la. ok what ? smile.gif

i tot mr slim is mitsubishi, now got two companies known for mr slim?
i was told rite, tht mitsubishi air-con wont cool as much as they claim wor (eg 1.5 hp,u'll feel llike 1.2 hp coolness nia wor)
*
Mr Slim is by MELCO and Mistsubishi HEavy Industry is another entity that sell heavy duty aircon but cheaper.

Whoever told you that Mitsubishi Air Con won't cool down as much as they claim, there's only 3 reason :

1. They don't own a Mitsubishi Aircon before
2. They bought the wrong BTU and HP for the wrong size of the room
3. They are trying to sell you other brand tongue.gif

d a/c installer said 1....owh so if i wanna buy mr slim, its manufactured by MELCO?
are air cons by Mitsubishi Heavy Inndustries any good?
*
MELCO = Mitsubishi Electric

Both Mistsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industry MHI abang adek company la ........

Both cater for different customer need. Equally good so far.

Mr SLIM from Melco can DIY Cleaning but MHI cannot but for thorough cleaning, u will still need to send it for services to aircon man.

Very noisy mean like a machine vibrating sound?
I can't set specifically for the guest room as I wish to use it as I wish to use as my activities room (surf net, listening music and exercise room.

What's in my mind is i can use the portable aircond so that I'm more flexible to it where I can use in my dining place and main hall if guest come or hot.

Any suggestion or I just install one first then only decide later to install in other places. I just wonder if I wanna install couple if a/c, I believe I have to change the whole electric box to cater higher power in future.
*
I duno how to tell u the noise, why dun u dropby some shop or Carrefour to test it out. Frankly like i said IF you're OK with the noise, the irritating Exhaust pipe, not requiring COLD requirement, just cooling cooling liang liang feeling only, then a portable aircon should be able to do the job.

Dining place and Main Hall, Portable aircon can forget it you can't feel ANYTHING unless you point the aircon at you direct, then u will feel cooling a bit.

Normally when you bought a house, before you shift in, you will already need to plan on the wiring of the whole house and points so that later won't be too messy ma. But anyway, you can fix one by one aircon, no need to rush, this is how i fixed mine, hehe ....... after 4 yrs, i have fixed 4 aircons, one by one la.

thanks your advise. I think need get advise with my installer.  biggrin.gif

Actually what you need to calculate is the BTU then you will compare with your aircon's BTU.
BTU is more accurate than HP in term of cooling capacity.
Use this calculator

how about Gree aircond?is it reliable?
*
Frankly, buy only known, established brand, where a lot of aircon man knows how to fix or service.
Unknown brand you are happier buying it at a good price but suffer the maintenance cost along the way, which i think is not good. cool2.gif

What means temperature to increase or decrease at btu calculation there?  hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
Means how much is the temperature you're trying to bring down, say 37 Degree C, you're trying to bring down to 26 Degree C so at this column u fill up 11 degree C
