tinkerbel,
As what i know based on malaysia , visa and mastercard has a limit up to approximately 300k a card no matter classic gold plat or even signature.
If want even higher limit, then only AMEX charge card can give you that.
The best card i think was Centurion (black card), but it's not available in malaysia la. Somemore the annual fee was a scary one, and need a annual usage of USD250k (Not too sure about exact amount). Application based on invitation among current Amex plat member. So anyone who chase for prestige, status symbol. this is the card you need lol. Haha.

Why do you need to apply for it?
If they really want to upgrade, they will send you a new card.
HSBC called me and offer me a GOLD card which I turned down.
After Citi approved a shell gold card for me, now HSBC want to do the same.
*
I'm not sure. When I ask them to upgrade, they said I need to go through the whole process of fill in the form lah, attach this lah that lah shakehead.gif

@andrekua,
I definitely agree with U on ur last statement made biggrin.gif

@bysquashy,

Woah, I don't have the time la........

Just apply first la.. talk too much la.

Gold or no gold also same one lar. So what if gold card? You didnt even know classic card can easily get annual fee waived and yet credit limit can surpass some gold card. If I remember correctly, Tinkerbel (or was it Terapox?) has a HSBC classic card with 14k limit, and my own HSBC classic also 9.5k limit. Issit really necessary to have a gold card when classic card can reach this limit that you rarely used up.

My salary is 3k per month subject to EPF deduction. So I dont think you really have an idea on about credit card approvals. Speaking of which, HSBC denied my application twice before when I was on 1.5k salary and only approved when I finally reach 2k salary. I havent used for a year and they already doubled my CL upon my request. Nothing is impossible.

Just get a card and concentrate on it to gain a good limit. Then its easier to apply for a gold card elsewhere. I would rather to have a classic card than gold card because there is no advantage at all (unless using Shell card for example).

@TeraPox,
I thought Amex Plat has that privilege too; at least @ KLIA - not sure if it's applicable other countries or not *grins*

@bysquashy,
U need to check the respective links of the respective card category; sometimes it's not stated but most of the time it is *smiles*

@andrekua,
Not me! I onli got RM12.5k on my HSBC CC but that's on a Gold.  I do however know of people who gets about RM20k CL on their Citibank Clear Card [and Citibank CS tells me the Clear Card category has a max RM15k CL - what bullshit!]
*
I believe only Amex Charge Platinum can do that...
Its by application and annual fee of 3k+.... don't have to mention that card here... *grins*

i got a question here...
my direct access card right...the interest free period means wat?
i no need to pay interest if i pay before the due date of the statement?
or 20 days from the transaction date?

lets say my statement date is 13th Aug, due date is 3rd Sept.
As long as i pay before 3rd Sept, i wont be charged any interest?

Just pay before the due date and no interest will be imposed.

Based on the new BNM ruling, once you missed a payment, you will lose the privilege of the interest period till you cleared the outstanding. Interest will be started to be credited to your statement on the date of purchase.

so that means is 20 days interest free from the date of purchase lar?
means after u make the transaction..u need to pay within 20 days?

lets say...
13.8.2008 statement date
14.8.2008 used RM 100
13.9.2008 2nd statement date
01.10.2008 Statement due date

the RM100 is included in the 2nd statement and it's 29 days to statement day.
Will i be charged interest if i pay at 31.9.2008?

You're required to pay what is billed. Any late payment to the current bill will impose a financial charge on upcoming purchaes in the next billing cycle I believe,

By the way, there's 31st in the month of September.

It's very complicated with the new ruling. rclxub.gif

That's why to make my life more simple is to consistently clear all my outstanding before the statement due date.

@Norns,
Still being reviewed?! Are U owing banks a lot of $ or have U been a bad paymaster previously?!

Would HSBC be willing to give you a rough indication on their 'review'?

I know someone who has a Plat card from MBF and the CL is only 18K. Some other examples - UOB/SCB Plat CL=25K. It all depends on the bank I think.
