that's what i do everytime...

but i think it depends on individual...

eg: people like tinkerbel, whom has a great track record... dun even hav to send in the application..the bank will actually call up and offer her a card... brows.gif

just submit the app form with the Copy of ur CC 1st, if the bank think that's not enough, they will call u and ask u to to fax in more supporting documents...

@zenwell,
I ain't the one who's got a whole collection/series of Plat cards but I think it starts from a min of RM30k
*
My DA Plat only have RM20K nia... and my EON Plat even worst... only RM15K.
One of my colleague's SCB Master Plat only RM15K oso.
I think nowadays banks are competing each other... they dun care anymore.

@TeraPox,
Er.. which bank offered me a CC without needing to submit application form? *scratch head*

@hye & danlhct,
You're probably right on the CL. My sister's CL on her UOB Platinum is RM15k p/card. UOB sent her 2 cards though hence I took total combined CL *grins*

I wouldn't be surprised if Plat cardholders get RM10k CL on their card. I mean what else can surprise me after hearing Gold cardholders getting RM4k CL!

This is true for Citibank cards.
Citibank is being stupid that it doesnt any sort of verification for online purchases. I dont worry about my HSBC because it will require IC validation at least.

@andrekua,
Er.. Amex doesn't require any other verification for purchases made online. The 1st time I made a US$19 purchase the bank did call to check if I made that purchase. However, I haven't heard from the bank for a purchase I made through PayPal yesterday morning. That was for ~US$50.

Gee. I used my MBB CC to pay for petrol in Petronas this morning, and when I checked my balance in the evening, it was 200 bucks! I thought I pump only like 30 bucks?

Called up their helpdesk and they told me to wait until the next billing cycle and it would be adjusted automatically.

They said something like the machine in Petronas can only post in 100 bucks ..
I remember seeing the balance reflected correctly before...
But that was few months ago.

I don't understand but oh well, hopefully it's not 10,000 bucks.

I didn't experience such occasion before. The last time I pumped using MBB Petronas Visa at Petronas is last week. The exact amount is being debited to my statement in the online statement.

10-Aug-2008 10-Aug-2008 PETRONAS BAYAN BARU PULAU PINANG MY RM24.60

no worry as this is normal they hold up a limit when you buy petrol. Usually 150 to 200. The exact amount will be charged to your statement, bank just hold it.

Usually petrol stations only do their batch closing in the middle of nite around 3am.

U said u pump at the morning and u check at evening?

No no such thing..
The petrol pump itself will hold the amount, but it will be released at the moment u finish pumping petrol and actual amount will be charged to bank not the holded amount.

Why do you need to apply for it?
If they really want to upgrade, they will send you a new card.
HSBC called me and offer me a GOLD card which I turned down.
After Citi approved a shell gold card for me, now HSBC want to do the same.

Honestly speaking, I rarely use so much money de. In fact, even a 5K card also enough de. Just that HSBC doesnt allow temporary credit limit increase when I was planning my wedding and forced to upgrade permanently. 5K limit is just nice to prevent me from overspending. Heck, Citibank give me 13K which is even more ridiculous for my salary which I dont understand at all.

I think BANK should be more responsible for controlling consumer spending instead of promoting consumer overspending by approving ridiculous limit for those who cant afford it, like me.
*
I do not agree with andrekua.. Why are you encouraging someone else to help you control your spending?.. Today's society is suppose to be financially matured!!! As we move towards being a develop nation, mentality like this should be shelf.. everyone should have the self discipline to control their own spending..

I for one carry 2 CCs.. one PBB with a CL of RM5k and the other CIMB for a CL of RM15k! but every month, my total spending on my CCs are RM300-400 combined.. Yup, not even RM1k.. I got no idea why the hugh CL, but one thing is for sure, in case of an emergency, I have that CL to back me up financially..

Have some constructive thinking.. Why do one carry a CC around?

me?.. this is why:
1. CL for financial emergencies (family member hospitalised)
2. not to carry too much cash around to limit losses if robbed or lost of wallet

going shopping and seeing something you want (but not need) does not mean taking out the card. instill self-discipline and control. always ask yourself, 'do i really need it?', 'What ever for?', 'can i live with out it?' this is how you can control your spending!.. NOT by asking someone else to check and limit you financial life style.. you are no longer a 12 year old kid!!!

gosh!!!
