ATPtennis Official Website - www.atptennis.com
WTAtennis Official Website - www.wtatour.com

Due to how crappy Astro is showing tenins nowadays, i advise you guys to watch it online instead.
Try websites like www.channelsurfing.net or www.bet365.com
About www.bet365.com, you will have to register an account, its free as long as you don't bet, then you can watch almost all the ATP matches there. The quality is great and its smooth. smile.gif

That one is only his "excuse" to withdraw from the tournament. The actual reason is he's tired after winning Wimbledon. He will be okay by next week for Rogers Cup. Well, he does find time to go beach with his girlfriend. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Lolz, it is Rogers Cup because a company called Rogers Telecommunication sponsors the tournament. tongue.gif tongue.gif

haha i think they should name a stadium after him..
one of the greatest players in history..

although nadal beat fed in wimbledon i still don't feel like he's a very keng player or something.
but fed, despite his loss, still maintains his class.. it's the look and the way he wins points i guess biggrin.gif

No worries about Nadal, he's always injured. Sometimes arms, sometimes ass, sometimes knees, sometimes ankle.. But he still gets to play well. Haha, i don't really trust all his "injuries".

Yeah, Federer really needs to bounce back.

Yeah... Lolz. smile.gif Its held in Toronto. It will start off today.
Today is the first round and Starsports will begin the covereage at 1am.

About the points... A victory in Grand Slam worths 1000 points, a victory in Masters Series event worths 500 points.

Since Federer was the finalist for last year in Rogers Cup Masters, he has to defend 350 points. Nadal was the semifinalist, he has 225 points. smile.gif
So if Federer loses before the final, he loses points. Same with Nadal.. if he loses before semifinals, he loses points.

Federer can only add points if he wins the tournament, while Nadal can add points if he reaches the finals. smile.gif

And on the side note, Djokovic is the defending champion. smile.gif

Lolz. Not like i'm not the same case. Last year SPM (yet i went tongue.gif tongue.gif , certainly worth it). This time i got SAM finals.

Well, its not like it gonna be in the morning. The match is at night. tongue.gif Make sure you study alot then go enjoy. Maybe can help you relax abit as well.

For a change, this year won't be in Shah Alam. Instead it will be in Bukit Jalil.. Should be in Stadium Putra.

Haha, well, still a long way to go before November arrives, so take the time to think about it.

Federer did quite bad... especially in his last service game =/ His forehand let him down at the end... probably because he was trying to force his way through using the forehand.

In Wimbledon, some players struggle to play on grass since playing too much on clay.
Now, players again struggled to play on hard court.

Djokovic might win this one.
Jugding from his win in Australia Open.

Hope Nadal can make a surprise biggrin.gif

Federer is really going through a tough period of his career now. Maybe now his confidence is at the lowest... And unfortunately, he couldn't get out of this YET without winning another big tournament.

We can only hope he can get back his best form as soon as possible.

I still have faith on him. It takes time for a person to recover from such a big loss. And Federer is a mortal human and he too needs a long break. Maybe this year isn't his year but i have confidence that he will come back next year, stronger and better than what he is doing now.

And this year hasn't ended yet. I would be happy if he wins US Open or Olympics or Masters Cup.

Well, i don't think its a physical problem. Its more about confidence. Mental strength is so important in tennis.

See Nadal. He's so confident after French Open.. thats why he always plays well on grass after his win in French Open. And now he's even more confident after winning Wimbledon.. Looks like he will have a good hardcourt season.

There are many talks about Federer losing his motivation.. He doesn't look like he wants to be a champion anymore. Lets hope its not true..

Hope Murray can beat Djokovic. =) I prefer Murray over Djokovic.

Cilic from Croatia beat Roddick yesterday. Lolz.

I seriously don't think its anything related to the physique yet.
Its more about the confidence, the fact he lost in Australian Open... then the mono virus thing.. And also now losing in Wimbledon. Thats harsh for any players.

Nice match so far between Murray and Djokovic. Murray won the first set =)

Haha. Nice win by Nadal. I think after the long first set, Gasquet got abit tired and lost his concentration. Thats the strength of Nadal. He can play at the same level the whole match and focus... smile.gif smile.gif

At the end i think Nadal deserves to win.

Gasquet should have let Nadal won the 1st set.
He 'woke' up a sleeping giant laugh.gif
Trashed 6-2,6-1 after that cool2.gif

Those hard work winning 7-6 (14-12) a total waste tongue.gif

Today's Schedule
QUOTE
Centre Court - Start Time 3AM
Gilles Simon vs Nicolas Kiefer

Not before 7AM
Rafael Nadal vs Andy Murray

I definitely think Murray can beat Nadal tomorrow. The way he played its just incredible. But he has to make sure he serves well throughout the match and not like Gasquet who faded out after the big win in 1st set. (Clearly shown that Gasquet is not fit enough)

Women's tennis? You can watch it in Eurosport. They are showing the final of East West Bank Classics in Monday morning 5AM. smile.gif
Jankovic still in contention. She's against Safina in the semifinals.

Federer better start playing well next week. A win in Olympic may save his No.1 ranking. We shall see what will happen very soon.

Nice victory by Nadal. Its really hard for any players to keep up their standard against Nadal in 3 sets. They may be able to win 1 set then just fade away after it. Credits to Nadal. He's the most consistent player in the tour now.

Actually no. Federer has himself to blame for losing the No.1. But even if i don't support Federer, i don't really like Nadal's playing style. smile.gif

I hope Kiefer can at least give a good fight. Not so nice for a final match to end too quickly. smile.gif

I think the system is work like this...

let say the winner will get 500 points
runner-up 300 points...
semi-finalists 150 points...

so if last year winner...but this year he lose in the semi-final...
so the 350 points (500-150) he won last year will be deducted...

with same theory...
the semi-finalist last year...but he manage to win the tournament this year...
350 points (500-150) will be added to him...

I also noob only...

Actually even Nadal is playing very well now, i don't see him winning the US Open. He may win Australian Open (seeing how slow the surface is), but he won't win US Open if the court continues to stay fast.

Hardcourt is just too harsh for his body. He can get into latter stages, but if he plays a long match, his body will find it hard to recover from it.. and Grand Slam is best of 5, which explains why he still can't win a hardcourt grand slam yet.

Today's Schedule
QUOTE
CENTER COURT start 11:00 pm
[11] R Gasquet (FRA) vs M Llodra (FRA)
J Tipsarevic (SRB) vs C Moya (ESP)
[1] R Federer (SUI) vs R Ginepri (USA)
Not Before 7:00 am
P Kohlschreiber (GER) vs [6] A Roddick (USA)

Here's the schedule for today. Roddick will be playing agaisnt Kohlschreiber (who beat him in 5 sets in Australian Open) and Federer will be playing against Ginepri. smile.gif

Can't wait to watch Federer in action!

Nadal...
can't say that he can't win at the fast court at US Open...
he seems like a monster now...maybe his body really can handle it...

hohoho...
Kohlschreiber vs Roddick...
hopefully the match is about the same last time they played...full of entertainment...
and so many Aces...rclxms.gif

Federer...
I just hope he can atleast reach the final...
so that his No.1 spot won't be taken by Nadal...(at the moment)...

However...
It's quite interesting to see Ernest Gulbis play...
his serve...his forehand... notworthy.gif
but if he could manage to reduce his errors...
he probably could surprise everyone and win the tournament... tongue.gif

Yeah, the Kohlschreiber vs Roddick match should be very interesting... especially now Roddick is not playing quite well.

Gulbis actually played a great match against Nadal in Wimbledon.. but his volley (inexperience maybe?) caused him the match..

Come on Federer!

Phew.. I really had a heart attack when Federer lost his serve at 5-5 2nd set. Thought he would lose again but he managed to break back Ginepri then won the match with a 6-0 in 3rd set. smile.gif smile.gif Really hope that this match will give him much confidence he needs now...
From my observation, he's playing almost his normal level.. however, during crucial points or break points, he tends to miss the shots because he is low in confidence. He can hold serve easily in normal times, but when he breaks the opponent serve, he will become nervous again then give back the serve.

he seem to be suffeering from low confidence.

Confidence can really make a huge difference, especially during those big points. With confidence, you can just hit the ball without thinking too much about whether its in or out. See the Federer today...... when he had break points, he failed to put the ball in play.. missing those easy 2nd serve returns... This is definitely not the Federer we used to see who took most of the chances. You would have expected to see him losing when Ginepri was serving for the match....

Looking forward to see how Nadal perform after a long week in Rogers Masters.

Catch the likes of Ivanovic, Jankovic, and Sharapova in Rogers Cup at Eurosport. smile.gif

yea..he becomes really nervous during breakpoints which results in him often not converting them..but at least he did yesterday at 5-6 when ginepri was serving for the match..i thought that forehand winner gave him the confidence he needed in the 3rd set..the tie break oso

Well, various reasons may contribute to his recent form.

Yeah, as you have said, the 2 slam finals losing to Nadal. The first one is sad enough as Nadal thrashed him in the final, the 2nd one in Wimbledon was heart breaking.. He put so much effort in coming back from 2 sets down then lost in the 5 sets. Thats almost too hard for anyone to take. Confidence is definitely at its lowest now.

2nd, he may be mentally tired. After dominating tennis for 4 years, who would get exhausted? Please note that no one has held the No.1 spot in consecutive weeks longer than Federer. Last few years he was absolutely dominant... and only Nadal can challenge him...

3rd, he's getting older. I don't really think this is the main reason. He's the player that doesn't get injured very often (when is the last time you remember he was actually injured)

Nevertheless, i hope to see him at his best as soon as possible. May not happen this year..... but he still has a good year so far compared to many players.

You guys have to be realistic, as much as I am a huge tennis fan. I can accept Federer days in the sun are numbered.Federer has the most another 3 slams in him , 4 if gets a good draw. Will he overtake Pete's 14 major tally, only Fed himself knows.
( 2003-2007) Fed, most of his opponents already surrendered the match before the first ball was struck. This year the aura isn't as strong as it was, if Fed doesn't win the gold in Beijing, I predict a bad US Open for him. If Fed takes the Gold, the US Open is his to lose.

Nadal style of play isn't really suited to hard courts, unless he plays the like he plays on grass further in and takes the return of serve early.

Because no one in the tour now can play tennis as beautiful as Federer. smile.gif

Two handed backhands can look awesome sometimes, but not as beautiful as one handed backhand.

I see no reason why Federer can't win another slam. Hope he will conquer his demons and return to his best form.

Federer, Borg berganding

- AFP

One-handed topspin backhand is my favourite shot. I think Federer's one is the most beautiful, and can be very effective tongue.gif His backhand in last year's Wimbledon was more effective than this year in general, that's what I think...

Even Henin's backhand was often devastating in the women's tour.

Easy victory for Nadal today.

Haha, have a look at today's schedule. We have all the top 3 players playing today. Gonna be a big day for tennis.... Blake vs Gulbis will also be an exciting one as both play very aggressive tennis.

Nadal will also have to play against Haas. smile.gif smile.gif

Lolz. I think the Federer match against Karlovic will not be that interesting because its hard for any players to return Karlovic's serve. o.O The match will just be a serving snooze. Lolz. But since Federer has not been playing that well, i will see watch what will happen. =)

Lets hope Federer continues his return in form.

Will definitely watching Blake vs Gulbis. =)

This year Nadal is the better player for sure, but please don't forget that Federer was runner up in Hamburg, Monte Carlo, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon, although he won Estoril when Davydenko pulled out of the final and he won the Gerry Weber grass court tournament, its not a bad year for a tennis player, but it is a bad year by Roger's own definition.

Being No:1 and staying No:1 are two different things.

This is really disappointing for Federer. I really think he deserves to win because he's the one playing well. but well, its tie breaker and anything can happen. One mistake in the 2nd point and Federer is gone. Karlovic really served very well throughout the match......
I think its almost certain now that Federer will lose his No.1 ranking. Definitely not easy to gain it back because Nadal is really THE player now. He's playing so well, even on hardcourt.

Still a long way to go for him. Masters Cup, US Open and Olympic. If he wins 2 out of 3 of these, it still considered as a good year.. and the fact he ends the year nicely will give him the momentum to go for more next year. "If"

federer finally dethroned from top spot.
nadal deserved it but i strongly believe it was partly helped by federer's poor run.
i noticed something in his play.....
remember the old federer with one hand backhand?
the kind of shot he produced against top players(the one against roddick is my fav) is missing!

let see how he respond to it. hopefully he still as determine as ever.
it'll be a big loss if he is doing 'a borg'......

It seems like Djokovic is the better player at the hard court.

Now my bet is---Nadal will be the No. 1 in very soon, but he will be tapao by Djokovic at the rest of the season, as I mentioned whoever in the No.1 position, he/she will be suffering...Hehe

If that really happens, this year is the best tennis season I have ever watched.

FedeX still No. 1 till 18th August:thumbs: thumbup.gif tongue.gif Djoko juz defeated Nadal 6-1, 7-5... Nadal still has to improve on hard court, it seems.

Djokovic puts Nadal’s ascent on hold

What happen to FedeX now is almost the same case like what happenned to Tiger Woods few years back.. He loss the No. 1 spot to Vijay Singh, from the chanting of Tiger Mania to Tiger Slump but he managed to come back and even stronger.. The question is, can FedeX do the same???
*
Federer and Tiger Woods are friend, hopefully Tiger will share his "secret" to overcome the problem with Federer. Hehe.

Nice win by Djokovic. =) Told you all Djokovic is a better player on hardcourt than Nadal.... Watched the match, 1st set is total domination.

So we are having a Murray vs Djokovic final. =) Not bad at all.

Well, Murray did beat Djokovic last week in Rogers Masters. So i see no reason why he can't do it again, especially after watching how he return Karlovic's serve, really playing super well now.

user posted image

For those who like women's tennis, watch Rogers Cup final in Eurosport at 1.45AM. But i would rather wake up for Murray vs Djokovic at 3. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Anyway, Jankovic is the new World No.1.

Lolz, Australian Open surface different from US Open surface. I think the hardcourt in US Open series is now the fastest surface, even faster than Wimbledon.. after watching Cincinnati final.. where the balls are flying here and there.

Apparently the best women's player currently is Safina... reaching 2 finals consecutively... smile.gif smile.gif

And nice win by Murray against Djokovic, winning his first Masters Series. Its a great match.. worth waking up at 3.30AM to watch this match. smile.gif smile.gif

At this moment, i can't tell whether Federer, or even Nadal will be in the US Open final.. However, Federer does play better in Slams this year, reaching Australian Open semifinals and also final in Wimbledon and French Open.

Nadal hasn't shown that he's the best player on hardcourt.. i still think Djokovic is better than him on the hardcourt.. And also Murray.. he has shown us his potential by winning Cincinnati.

Olympics will tell us more about the current form of the top players.

According to the news, Olympics points won't be enough to make changes between No.1 and No.2. Federer needs to win the US Open to even have chance to become No.1 (provided that Nadal plays badly too but it doesn't seem so).

If Federer wins Madrid Masters + Paris Masters + Masters Cup + US Open, he will be the no.1. smile.gif smile.gif Seems tough isn't it?

isn't the same court that they play at the Shanghai year end master's cup for the Top 8 isn't?

thus should be a quite medium fast carpet court?

He will definitely come back... i don't think he's will do a Borg or Henin now. He's definitely not that type of person.

Federer has held the No.1 spot for 236 weeks consecutively... this is the longest record... before this Connors held it for around 160 weeks consecutively. One can't hold the top spot forever... He's not immortal.

good record by FedEx,it almost impossible to broken, now he should catch the other record the most week in the 1st spot,i wiki the fact and find Fed now fourth behind Sampras(286) , Lendl (270) and Connors (268).

And some luck maybe. He's definitely training hard and not giving up yet.

Anyway, tomorrow is the opening ceremony for Beijing Olympics and also the birthday for Federer. Federer will be holding the Swiss flag and leading the Swiss athletes. A very proud day for Federer.

Anyway, the Olympic draw is out.

Federer has Karlovic, Davydenko, Gulbis, Robredo and others at his side of the draw and Nadal has Murray, Djokovic, Hewitt and Nalbandian. smile.gif smile.gif Looks like an easier draw for Federer but many dangerous floaters for him as well.

More Beijing pictures.

karlovic. davydenko and gulbis in federer's half while murray, hewitt, fat nalbandian and the djoker
goes to nadal's half tongue.gif

dangerous for the 'new federer' and quite tough for the improves nadal.

happy birthday to federer.

Injured Ivanovic out of Olympics
QUOTE
Top seed Ana Ivanovic has pulled out of the Olympic tennis tournament because of a thumb injury.

"This is one of the worst moments of my career," said the Serb, who now faces a battle to make the US Open, which starts on 25 August.

Ivanovic, who will be replaced by compatriot Jelena Jankovic as world number one on Monday, had not been able to practise since arriving in China.

She sustained the injury in training after losing at Wimbledon.

The French Open champion joins former Olympic champion Lindsay Davenport, Maria Sharapova, Tatiana Golovin, Amelie Mauresmo and Mary Pierce in missing the event.

The 32-year-old Davenport, who won gold in 1996, has struggled with a knee problem since Wimbledon but is expected to play in the doubles.

Second seed Jankovic, due to play Zimbabwe's Cara Black in the first round, is still a doubtful starter after picking up a calf strain.

Ivanovic's pull-out came on a rain-hit day at the tennis tournament where only nine of a scheduled 45 matches were completed

Really crappy coverage. Tomorrow Astro won't even show any matches of the tennis event.

Then Tuesday they will show the morning session at 10AM.

Then no coverage on Wednesday.

And only Thursday they will show the quarterfinals... followed by Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Really messy. Even with 11 channels they fail to show us more tennis.

Don't expect too much from them when they show US Open. mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

Sighz, tennis is actually quite popular in this country... it has always been underestimated. sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

The main problem now is no live TV coverage and i couldn't find where to watch online. mad.gif mad.gif Really crappy Astro as usual.

Nadal won in 3 sets and Federer won easily in straight sets.. i hope thats a sign that Nadal is not unbeatable and Federer is slowly regaining his form.. One match can't tell much.. so we still have to see (Astro doesn't allow us to SEE!)

Crazy news here. Murray has just been beaten by Yen Hsu Lu from Taiwan and Tipsarevic has beaten Ferrer. Really big upsets here.

Didn't expect Murray to lose in the 1st round, especially his impressive win in Cincinnati...

Tough match for Federer today. Against Berydch who beat him in the Athens Olympics. Federer better becareful in today's match. Very dangerous for him.

Nadal will face Igor Andreev also. Another dangerous player.

Centre Court - Start time 4PM
KANEPI Kaia (EST) vs LI Na (CHN)
(1) FEDERER Roger (SUI) vs (17) BERDYCH Tomas (CZE)
(4) WILLIAMS Serena (USA) vs (15) CORNET Alize (FRA)
(7) NALBANDIAN David (ARG) vs MONFILS Gael (FRA)

Nadal will be playing in the 2nd court against Andreev. smile.gif Delayed coverage at 10PM at channel 822.
You can try to switch to channel 825 because that channel can switch from a sport to another sport.. So try your luck there. Yesterday they showed the Djokovic match then switched to basketball then to badminton. smile.gif

Yesterday Federer played quite relaxed... didn't really play very well.... maybe he knows that he doesn't need to...
Today will definitely tell us more about his form. Berdych is a very dangerous player.

Lolz. Sad for you. But its not that exciting of a match. But Federer certainly did enough to beat Berdych.
Now we will see who Federer will face tomorrow.. Will it be Blake or Simon(who beat Federer in Rogers Masters)?

Later Channel 821 will be showing tennis matches at 10PM.

And tomorrow Astro will finally show the matches in live starting from 4PM. Crappy Astro made us wait for so long!

Yeah. Good for Federer to play some doubles.. just hope that he won't get too exhausted.

Its raining now in Beijing. Federer vs Blake is scheduled to be the first match of today... but its still raining.

No live streaming sorry.

So far the match isn't that good, both players have quite a number of errors, especially Federer. Something is not right with him, he's not playing his best tennis... missing many shots....

Come on Federer!

Sighz, what the HELL is wrong with Federer??? Confidence? Lack of motivation? Sickness?

Federer is letting himself down and also his fans down yet again and again. Can't deny anymore that he's not in a slump.. he is in a slump and he HAS to get out of it as soon as possible. Losing to opponents that he has never lost to before..... The players are not afraid of him anymore.

He still has doubles to go. Whatever it is, what happened has already happened, can't change the fact. He has to get on and get back to his best.

if he really can get out of this slump..he will be much a greater player than b4 if he can bounce back..but i dun see him doin it this season..i rather think that this season is over for him..right now, winning the US open seems very difficult for fed even if he does plays his best in grand slams..lack of confidence i think is the major factor

Every fans of Federer would feel that surely. But only Federer can help himself now. He needs the motivation.... he's really lacking in confidence... not hitting the shots well. Confidence vs Motivation.. He needs either one of them.

This is really upsetting. Roger seemed to be on a slump ever since that painful defeat to Rafa. He's gotta step up his game and stop getting balls in the net.

Nowadays I don't feel so sad for federer's loss as before wimbledon. In fact, I think if I watched federer win, I will be very happy. But if he lost, I feel like it's normal only, no more sadness liao.

This year Federer performance on 3 different court:
Hard court---Worst, most of his losses this year came from hard court.
Clay court---Ok, reached finals many time.
Grass---Good, but not the best as previous year.

Overall performance:
Satisfaction (for a normal mid-class tennis player).
Poor (considering he still No.1 at the moment).

No, I don't think so....

You see, those players in his era like Hewitt, Safin, and Roddick, all of them already falls. Federer can maintain until now is already a great achievement. So, maybe he will continue to falls like them....

Don't dream Federer will come back. It seems like it's impossible. The more you dream, the more you will be dissapointed. Even I admire him, now I watch his tennis is just like enjoying only, win or loss also doesn't matter for me. I appreciate the chances to watch him, because in near future maybe he will seldom got chance to reach quarter or semi.

nah..i won't get dissapointed even if he doesn't..becuz this season he's been giving his fans nothing but dissapointment all the time sort of getting used to it..was very sad for him when he lost his wimbledon title in that way..anyway..he's already had an unbelievable career..consecutive semis and finals of grand slams..winning 3 of them in a season and doing it 3times..it's hard to do tat..and i don't think nadal has that much of the ability to achieve something like tat..heads off the federer..he's a great player..no doubt

Man, Nadal is really strong at this moment. Seems to have the best chance winning US Open. Beating Djokovic on hardcourt is definitely something not EASY, especially on a fast hardcourt. As much as i don't want Nadal to dominate tennis, he is really doing so. And Federer is not playing well at this moment, which is very bad.

federer is a highly unusual person... he is number one in the men's singles( for the next 24 hours or so) but he can loose to blake. he and wawrinka are 4th in the men's doubles but can beat bryan and bryan. hmm, what is he trying to prove? maybe nadal can get three slams this year. i am not predicting anything, but i'd rather fed take a long rest and come back to play later on.

According to the match report, Federer served very well and volley very well as well. And when he was at the baseline, he struck alot of winners against Bryan Bros. He needs confidence, and playing doubles will help as well.

i hope nadal will win gold medal smile.gif hehe.. it has been long i din post on this tennis tongue.gif hehe.. my last post was last year i guess?

i think it's the time for federer to think back, start to practice again and dont do too much advertising or modeling.. recently, he become cocky but in a humble way.. or maybe he just want to get his confident . im federer's fan too but i just dun want him to dominate tennis anymore. im very2 upset with him after wimbeldon, blaming nadal when he took some time to bounce the ball.. last time when he can beat nadal, he din complain anything... but this time why? biggrin.gif undur federer undur~ or if he really want 1.. try play double biggrin.gif maybe his magic works in double this time?
i hope nadal will stay in no 1. and stay humble, like what he is now.. he's just a superb player.. aggresive and powerful with his own powerful magical shot, better than federer's magic last time when he was a magician tongue.gif

alot of ppl dun like nadal become of his aggresiveness on the court to keep his spirit up.. haha.. if you are a tennis player i think u'll know the feeling after hitted wonderful ball or passing shot, especially after a long rally.. hahah the feel.. the pleasure.. the release... but diffrent people have diffrent way to show their wonderful feeling.. hahah VAMOS RAFA biggrin.gif

but off-court.. nadal is a very2 nice guy biggrin.gif alot of my girlfrenzzz said nadal is so cute tongue.gif huhuh

so it's time to support nadal everybody(esp. fedex fan tongue.gif) .. we need more aggresive and powerful player in this world to enjoy tennis biggrin.gif

VAMOSSS RAFAAA!!!! smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

watch out gulbis.. i think he'll make it top 10 soon.

haha...seriously...both are equally important and meaningful to win... smile.gif

Yesterday the Men Double Final match is quite interesting to watch...
full of entertainment...

surprisingly...you will see Federer react when he or Wawrinka hit a winner...
usually...he show no emotion when he's playing single... tongue.gif

it's funny when they won the match...
hugging...and playing fool with each other... biggrin.gif

hope he got the confidence back and be on form again...
and aim to get back the No.1...! thumbup.gif

Lets say given the below 2 choices to Federer, which one do you think he would choose?

1) A French Open title

2) An Olympics gold medal
*
definitely french open 2 complete his grand slam years...so far he ardy won 3 grand slams per year back 2 back and still short of 1 which is french open 2 complete that feat

I personally think that Federer would want the French Open title more as achieving a career grand slam is a much much harder feat.
Also given the rich history of grand slam tournaments, a person who can achieve a career grand slam will always be remembered in the tennis world.

I think he would surely choose French Open. While we all know that Olympics tennis is important, its nowhere near the importance of any grand slams.. I know some players like Federer would say they rate Olympics same as grand slam, but its the number of grand slams you have in your career that show how great you are.

Excellent match by Elena Dementieva. I think she is owed a real big title.. She's a great player who never wins any grand slam due to her nerve and serve.. but now she's really showing that she can win the grand slam after this Olympic gold medal. Like her, she's a great player!

I don't think so. Because Gonzalez is really playing well and he has beaten Nadal before in Australian Open. And Nadal has a weakness against players who hit very flat, like Gonzalez. But Gonzalez will to check out his unforced errors because that will be the key.

hehheh gonzalez.. dat guy has a nice forehand.. but his backhand very weak.. he try to hit variety backhand.. slice, spin, flat which is very easy to make error...

nadal as usual is a powerful spin player and recently have a very nice flat long swing stroke and he improved his returns too.. this kind of player u dun give him any short ball.. he's a player who will not miss any chance and try to avoid him to do too much nice passing or winners hehhe.. coz he will recharge and will do more tongue.gif

nadal n gonzo... 50/50.. if nadal win gold medal this time.. he will win US open too biggrin.gif his mental become stronger and stronger... hes a predator haha...

It's one of his lil routines he does,I'm sure he's very aware of it.He's just one of those who have a fixed set of routine (think Sharapova laugh.gif) Don't think he's pickin ,just pulling/tucking at it,lol

Well Nadal won his first Olympic gold medal. Now on to Flushing Meadows!!! To be honest I don't see him winning it, it would be tooo much to expect, Federer has won a gold medal albeit for doubles, hopefully that will boost his confidence, I hope he can successfully defend the US Open.
May the best player win w00t!

He better change this habit as soon as possible. Nowadays he is too great and always enter finals of any tournament. If he continue this BAD habit, my mom in future will use this as a "reason" to watch her favorite channel instead of letting me watching GRAND SLAMS final. lol

About Federer, I think it's time for him to shift to concentrate mans double. Why? you see, nowadays Federer's unforced errors mostly came from "out", and the larger WIDTH of court in double games allow him more room to shoot the ball to the "out" region in the single match without fault in double games. lol

hehe alot of federer's fan here.. but guys... i think.. he dun deserve to win US Open with his performance this year.. he even lost to "roddick" What the HELL?? but maybe he can go until final.. he's safe because after this nadal will meet djokovic in semi.

if he really wants to get back his no 1. he has to work very2 hard... fix his backhand.

Murray also improve alot this year.. i think after federer's dominant, tennis is more exciting to watch!~ hehe.. biggrin.gif

You can go atptennis.com to check the rankings.

Well, Nadal deserves to be No.1.. really.. for what he has achieved this year.

What i hope for is Federer coming back and fight for the No.1 spot. And also US Open.

it's either djokovic or ferer this time.. if djokovic.. then 50/50 for him..to enter final.. i dunno i have a feel if he met murray now also 50/50.. if nadal.. 40/60... tongue.gif hehhe.. still remember last year.. everything was like 70/30 for him to win anyone he met.

or maybe he just trying something this year to get all the grand slams next year?

haha biggrin.gif or nadal will be the legend to get all 4 grand slams in one year? ~ lalala...

djokovic is watching and trying too~~~ while murray is keep improving...

tennis is getting hotter and hotter now because everybody have chances.. i think after US open all the top players

have to do some extra works if they still want to stay in top 10 ~ biggrin.gif

federer had his chance. 4 and a half freaking years he was untouchable and now nadal deserves his chance. of course, if nadal falls and fed takes it back, i for one am not complaining. maybe federer will see this as a new challenge and try to get back his number one spot. who knows? we shall see if this number 2 spot will make him a better player or make him worse.

I see no reason why Federer can't come back. He was playing so well last year... how could a player just drop so fast.... Its just the problem of confidence. Once he gets it back he will play very well.

i dont think that federer will win any grand slam this year...

for the us open it will be either nole or nadal will win the open...
if they meet before final, the winner of the match will win the open...

nole groundstroke is very solid by the way he took it... his serve is also very fluid unlike nadal.... the fluidity is as good as federer....

i wonder when does malaysia tennis will go more active??? hurmmmm...

i think all other players now have seen federer's weaknesses... and push him to make mistakes.. plus nowadays the quality of return serve of every player improved, so it's hard for his previous year playing style... serve and volley.

if we want malaysia tennis to be active we need at least 1 or 2 pros... i think we will get it soon since we have 2 junior who already have good ranking in boys & girls ITF ranking.... Juan Los Santos & Jawariah. Even i heard the girl last time qualified to play grand slam (Junior Circuit), im not sure wherether it was aus open or us open, beacause of financial/support she din play... Then the boy(juan) highest rank was 220, and his family very supportive and expose him with international competitive enviroment. So i think soon they will become pro. I din say that other junior players are not good, but in malaysia we need good player who can afford to play more outside tournament with their own budget tongue.gif

juan's case unfortunately is like adam jaya. lots of money to splurge so play more tournaments than others to gain ranking point. malaysia's best hope now is ahmad deedat. now he's a guy to look forward with. probably with him around we'll have another adam malik case. until juan start to even beat kanagaraj/razlan/ashaari, we'll not have a real pro to look up to icon_rolleyes.gif

oh but jawa is indeed a talent.. but she needs to go overseas more !!! she manage to qualify for aus open girls singles..but typical malaysian mentality too many officials wanted to follow her till not enough budget doh.gif jawa is levels ahead of the rest of the malaysian girls... she can beat neesha our no.2 6-1,6-0.. too far ahead..cant afford to train or play locally and her time is gonna be limited too since she's like 17/18. not much time to push forward anymore sweat.gif

cmon we need to bring this matter to the ministry. tennis cannot be neglected. as we see football also is not so power. maybe its time for us to revise the side where we have more potential to go international.... MAYBE THE ANSWER IS TENNIS!!!

all we need is fund from the government or some personal injection of fund from companies or rich individual.

more tournament must be held more frequent.. ltam must be active and play their role. we as fan and player will always be supporting rite????

bout the wta player now i think no 1 player must have an attitude like a man and play like a man. just see justine henin... she walks like a man... hehehe.... my eyes on woman tennis is now directed to safina.. she have the power but she need to learn to control her emotion and not let the emotion to control her rhythm of playing...

in reality, our tennis ranking how low also is still higher than football team tongue.gif in selangor every weekend got tournament.. what we really need is more quality coaches..coaches with certs.. they need to follow US where even in country clubs those coaches are certified. u can even see coaches who dont even have proper stroke coaching. and also there's only 2 ITF level 3 coaches in malaysia..the husband and wife team of suresh menon and khoo chin bee.. we have lots of coaches at level 2..why aren't they improving to level 3 ? we need more quality coaches icon_idea.gif

but such strong enforcement, do u think our national body will do it ? rolleyes.gif

haiz, it wil be the end for federer if federer says it is the end. until then, federer is still around, playing his unique tennis that got me hooked to the game, and while nadal gets to be number 1, can he keep the spot for 235 weeks consecutively? i dont think so. but that is just me. if federer cant bounce back, i dont mind as long as he dont stop trying. to me, federer is one of the best players in the world. thumbup.gif even nadal says so

i admit that fed is still one legend of this sport...
yes whenever he turn up in the court my eyes will unblink...

fed is also the best but...... NOLE is better..
I bet RAFA can keep his place for a long time....

VAMOS RAfA!!! NOLE!!!
ps: wheres anti fed fan? Wheres rafa and nole fan????
COME ON!!!!

bout our tennis scene, its not only weekend tournament of seniors and some youngsters. wut i mean is organizing a tennis calender for the player that are still in school and universities.

Coach that have the top level of coaching must go to the ITF to get certified and built an academy. Big publicity must be have for the academy and it is not only located at kl or selangor but also places like kedah, penang, johor and even sabah...

Lets unite and take this matter to the LTAM so they will forward this to the ministry level....!!!

I doubt Nadal can stay number one for long, if he holds it for a calender year that would be amazing! My opinion is that the No:1 status will most likely change hands between Nadal, Federer, Nole.
I think slowly Fed will realize what Sampras when through, when young upstarts start gunning for his No:1, and with age catching up,being half a step slow, losing to people he shouldn't lose to, erodes his confidence.Naturally there will be a time, when Fed stays in the zone for 2 weeks and hopefully wins another major, exclude the French.
Can't wait for 2009!

just 3 more grand slam for federer to overtake sampras...hope he focus on these 3 rather than focus to become no.1 ....but if fed really does climb back to no.1 i think he can be considered the greatest tennis player already...

maybe federer will do 'an agassi'..... winning a slam at the late age....
there is an endless possibility.
congratz to nadal for being the new world no 1. he will not be able to break federer's record of consecutive weeks at the top but if he keep on winning the slam until he reach 27, he'll be the new king of slam.

well...
actually i dun mind who's on federer side...
what actually important is whether federer regain his old form...

if he can't...even he has an easy draw...still he won't win the US open...
if he's at his best...even all those tough players on his side...he will still able to beat them...and win the US open tongue.gif

in reality, our tennis ranking how low also is still higher than football team  in selangor every weekend got tournament.. what we really need is more quality coaches..coaches with certs.. they need to follow US where even in country clubs those coaches are certified. u can even see coaches who dont even have proper stroke coaching. and also there's only 2 ITF level 3 coaches in malaysia..the husband and wife team of suresh menon and khoo chin bee.. we have lots of coaches at level 2..why aren't they improving to level 3 ? we need more quality coaches

but such strong enforcement, do u think our national body will do it ?

Hey batousai! there's one girl name Adele Boey also quite good right?

I heard from my friends she also go oversea for touraments. She currently in SMK DJ but she only attend school once a month. Because she travels most of the time. But why she isn't in BJSS???Or politics? hahaa.

Whatever the draw is, if Federer wants to win a big tournament, he has to beat everyone that he's drawn to. smile.gif Then only he will be seen as a deserving winner.

My guess is----Federer will be beaten by Stepanek in the third round. It already happened once this year.

If Federer can reach semi-final, then it's already a success.

I wouldn't count Fed out, with everyone's expectation for Nadal to win the tournament without striking a ball yet seems very premature, it certainly will take the pressure of Fed of winning the tournament, who knows this could be what Fed needs, no more pressure since he is not the favorite. The two top seeds have a high potential of meeting in the final.

Seriously, if Nadal win this US Open event, he will be the new King of the tennis. 3 Grand Slam and olympic champion in a single year.

And if he continue the WINNNIG streak, tennis masters series, next year 4 Grand Slam champion..... Another new player chasing Pete's 14 Grand Slam record.

Wow, unbelievable. I only started watch tennis 3 years back, and luckily withness 2 tennis great WITHIN 5 years.

However, I'm still supporting Federer. Maybe I'm just a plain die-hard fans.

Although US Open has been the hardest one for us Malaysians to watch due to the time zone, i really like it because of its atmosphere.. The loud crowd... the americans... Its a break from the traditions we have in French Open and Wimbledon. smile.gif

Del Potro won 4 straight tournaments coming into US Open.. so he's really the dark horse for US Open.. And also Tsonga, who has just come back from the injury... smile.gif

Shouldn't be a problem for Nadal to clear through th early rounds.... Can't wait to watch the Olympic Gold Medalist Dementieva in action today.

4 straight tournaments but all in 3 sets max... grand slam all have to win by 3 sets... so it will be different for tat boy (Del Petro) and see how he copes with it...

the 2 main courts (Arthur Ashe Stadium and the other one duno wat name la tongue.gif) can seat 2 or 3 times the spectators in Frechn Open and Wimbledon... so sure more vibrant that the other grand slams

in your ppl's opinion, which female player in the tour currently plays like henin does and and has the stature to be a World No. 1? kinda of missing someone like henin type...
