QUOTE(raptar_eric @ Mar 5 2009, 10:49 PM) Means pay 1750 for the phone? o.O? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Those are the penalty you need to pay ON TOP of the contract payment.
For example:-
Suppose the contract requires RM160 per month for 2 years. That's RM160 x 24. And suppose you want to terminate the line, and use other telco. If you do this during the first 12 months, you pay an additional RM1000 in addition to the RM160 x 24 you already need to pay to get the iPhone plus contract. If it is in the second year, you pay RM750 instead.
There are NO "buy outright" or "buy without contract" options. Maxis loves screwing the life out of you.

Not only will they screw the consumers, they screw themselves also when the number of people opting for it is small. This will probably be so as when the buying public does the maths, they will just get the iPhone from the other avenues as currently done.

One more weekend, and Maxis will announce.
Stringfellow - don't be so pessimistic. This will be a very heavy subsidized phone. It will be worthwhile.

So far it doesn't look too good. Hope that the pricing will be reasonable.

If the news is made known right down to agents, I think this time it's for real. Too bad the pricing is out.

I'm not even holding any hope on this, just passing the info to those interested. I'm holding on to my NZ iPhone until June/July, then only I may decide if I want to get screwed by Maxis locally or go the same NZ route again. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Just for clarification, my sources come from my own brother working on the higher-up side of Maxis, another source from Maxis Broadband, and my other source from APR whose name is part of the retail chain group in KL. if based on stringfellows comment, 160x12 seems ok..160-99 for data plan = 60bucks for iphone x24mths..does seem ok..unless u need to buy d phone n subscribe to d plan on top of dat aka blackberry.

Yep, matches the info I got as well: That Maxis will be launching it next week. Still won't be able to tempt me to upgrade my EDGE iPhone though. I'm attached to it emotionally already after all the highs and lows we've been through together.. Haha..

I'll wait for June/July as well. Not too far away for a new model. Maxis offering it here at least provides a good indication that we will not miss the next model.

Ok jst an update....so far still no info on the package.
Just heard they ll oni select 60(or 16 can't hear properly, mostly consists of Maxis service centers or authorized agents) dealers as authorized dealers of the Iphone. These dealers will be going to the training for the program next week. Besides the phone, these dealers will be selling the iphone accessories as well. 3 models will be available (as we know, mostly or of course, 8GB or 16GB white/black)
Maxis very "serious" with the program as they have lost too many users who switched line to their competitor: orang kuning....esp among youngsters...
Anyway believe it or not ...nth to lose...hehehe since most of us here oledi own one. Just a news to those going-owner.
