Other than toilet, wat else will i need for Colby ?

put the toilet sand in the toilet loh.. u can get Frisian non-clumping cat litter as the toilet sand.. the toilet sand has a type of cement smell, usually hamsters will know that it's their toilet.. if not, take the bedding that contain his pee & put inside the toilet.. slowly he'll know that's his toilet.. but most of my hamsters automatically pee on the toilet sand, no need for me to train de..

biggrin.gif Just like mine. When they just woke up, I must give them some time to stretch stretch, yawn a few times and then do grooming session. When done they'll wanna come out for thei flooring time in the exercise ball. Then 15 minutes before I put them back in their cages I will melt their smoothie for them.

sweat.gif Ferro is a long hair syrian so his fur still growing. But he everytime also groom his fur until berserabut wan. So weird. hmm.gif Roche's fur is also becoming dense.

tongue.gif But this is all ok since they say a hamster who yawns is a happy hamster.

BTW my robos always pee and poo in their toilet but not my syrians. Weird.

smile.gif Just get a normal bowl and a pack of toilet sand. Get a heavy bottom bowl so that it doesn't topple when your hamsters try to climb onto their bathroom. Get a toilet that's large enouugh for a syrian lor.

I read that when a hamster yawns, it shows that the hamster is happy and contented. A hamster under stress will not yawn.

Take a picture lar~ I wanna see! Hehe...

My hammie's teeth shocked me for the first few days, i was scared to touch her, not even feed her laugh.gif

I didn't use sand because they will clump and will stick on the hammie's body, the sand will be all over the cage doh.gif
I use bedding instead, to absorb the pee, 1 or 2 days i will change the bedding when it is smelly.

About the smell, don't know how to describe lah, hamster's smell laugh.gif

Read this. This guy in this thread.

sweat.gif Yawning shows they are relax. How you expect them to keep their inscissors when they yawn.

Roche's pee is VERY smelly. I change once in 2 days. She pees a lot although all the moisture she gets is from nezu's smoothie.

Ferro's toilet starts to smell after some 5 or 6 days.

blush.gif So basically I change wheneever it smells.

@coltrain: Well, actually those brown bowl will do. I stopped using those toilet already cuz my hamster love to scratch the sand all over the place ans it'll end up being kicked out of the bathroom. smile.gif A bowl has higher sides and most of the sand stays in the bowl no matter how they scratch it.

Nice solid cream syrian you got there.

Get a smaller bowl and exchange your food bowl with a smaller bowl. The current brown bowl use as a toilet and the smaller bowl use as food bowl. Syrian only require 1-2 teaspoon of dry food per day.

Get Frisian non-clumping cat litter for the toilet sand. Remember non-clumping as it is safe for hamsters. If you see your hamsters chewing on the cat litter, don't worry is ok. They just need their minerals for it. You see that they will eat back their poo also sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

No need bathroom as syrian will groom themselves. You just need to wipe them with a damp cloth once a week or they get poo or pee on their fur. Currently my long hair solid cream, SamSam, is getting lots of poo stuck on his on fur at his backside. Really a dirty boy.
