You may want to email the Malaysian bar council ?

He should contact the Qualifying Board and not the Malaysian Bar.

Hi Schizophrenic

Is Stpm or its equivalent a must as part of its requirements? What are its equivalents? I have gone straight to Foundation Studies and Diploma of Business after my SPM.

Cheers

Yes it is a must for purposes of CLP.

Foundations are not normally recognised as equivalent to STPM but do verify with the Qualifying Board.

anyway, how is the working life of a lawyer in general?

like during chambering, and then as a legal assistant for first few years up until u're made a partner?

9 - 6pm weekdays or what?

Their life so buzy..on the morning 8am running to the Court because the session start on 9am..room to other rooms..get back to office on evening doing a lot of thing..working hours is depend to the firm...like KL..end up at night..some firm finish on 5pm..but still depend on lawyer himself to finish the job on any hour..

Chambering for 9 months with lowest allowance doing a lot of works. But then, if u doing well, u will offered to be a legal assistant once u've called to the bar (complete 9months & declared as advocate & solicitor of High Court of Malaya). so the job seems like almost guaranteed for u..works well for years maybe u will offered to be a partner. No need to say..ur salary will be drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif

Just from my observation. sweat.gif

Time varies with person. Some work til wee hours, some seldom.

As of being offered partnership, it's not guaranteed. It's depends on the firm you are working in, your performance at work place and how much you contributed to the firm.Usually it takes years but it's worth....$_$

You should consult the lecturer's who should provide you some clearance on whether the duration of the time will be shorter .

i read in the newspaper recently, i think on sun where there was an article abt the malay language in courts ler..if i'm not mistaken, 30% of them still converse in malay and they r still doing so despite the hardship in translating those legal terms in malay since some of them r hard or they just use back the same words but different spelling kua lol smile.gif

not so sure for litigation since i'm currently in the conveyancing line xD

Hmm, what u mean but the timetable and lecture time very short? o_O dun really understand ur Q.
From what understand regarding ur Q is that the duration for classes is too short but u r asking whether can finish earlier? a bit the contradicting rite? xD or izzit that u meant by the duration of the course is too short of 1 1/2yrs? or can it be shorter ie. 1yr? sleep.gif

U gotta clarify ur question before any of us can answer it. rclxub.gif

that is why i ask the fellow forumer to consult their lecturers and if still confusing consult the person who is control of their program which is in the 2f of BAC .Having trouble getting there ? just take the elevator up from the Ground floor up to the 2nd floor and once it is open you will see two pathway's on your left hand you will enter the premise which leads you to the admin office and the receptionist and on the other hand which is right you can use the stairs to maneuver self around the college .YOU Cant miss the receptionist .... except if she is on a coffee break or you have arrive at 8.00 am.
