RIP Intel Home Shuttle Driver - Pak Ilias :'(

Pak Ilias was a kind, cheery talkactive and nice person, always pick us up on time.
Even if he accidentally left one of us, he would purposely U-turn and make sure everyone gets to office or home one...

Hope Pak Ilias is in a better place now... cry.gif

Checking in. Soon to be ex-Altera engineer.

New CEO ask to RTN (return to normal). So must work in office. Boss give hint2 already during 1:1.

Wish could stay and continue WFH with Altera. But with tough job market, I’d rather look for work now and forgo my LTRCA later this year or any unvested monies. Pretty sure will RTO once they calculated the cubicle spaces for Altera in PG14/15/16

Are they going to halau Intel employees out of 14/15/16 so that Altera employees have enough space?

Altera will only return to office completely when Intel folks also return to office and move to their new PG17 building. Currently expected is around Nov - Dec time frame. So you still have half a year to plan.

Currently PG14, PG15 and PG16 buildings actually belongs to Intel and they will be leasing it to Altera. Some parts will partitioned off and strictly for Altera employee access only and likewise for Intel. Cafe and carpark will be shared.

Intel folks will be moving to PG17 new building at the end of the year. So yes Altera will have enough space then.

Don't think you will find many companies that offer WFH still. Industry recognizes WFH is no longer efficient and beneficial and are hauling people's ass back to office.

PG17 is the one next to PG7? I passed by that building few days ago and it seems to be still very far from completion. End of the year seems a bit unrealistic.

If not finish then RTO get pushed back until whenever its completed lo. Corporate Service says building will be ready in November so we will see la biggrin.gif Plus Intel already have agreement to give up portions of PG14, PG15 and PG16 to Altera by 1st September already. So will get kicked out regardless.

But pity Kulim folks will have to enter office starting 1st Sep regardless.

They said Nov....but i really doubt it. If anything, Q1'26 seems a little bit more realistic.

yep. agree with pillage2001. many companies already want RTO. WFH may apply for senior folks who has a proven track rocord with the company they work with on a case by case basis.

so changing job just to avoid RTO is not a wise move. you should change job to take up more challenge and aim for higher position and salaries.

Take good package, jump to Altera. More $ than staying put. I am sure many will want to take the package then.
