I got an error! I hope it has nothing to do with V2.40... I tried veiwing peoples profile cards, and i got 'An error has occured (FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF)'... then i wanted to play Kane & Lynch, and there was a new patch for the game, so I had to download before being able to play... I left the PS3, came back to check, and it was 40%... then came back again after a while, and the same message appeared! 'An error has occured (FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF)'...

I hope this isn't involving the 2.40 update... Scared la... Not gona touch the PS3 until Sony releases a fix, then I will straight away download that...

yeah me too , when viewing profiles i get a An error has occured (FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF)'. (after fw 2.40) message. After couple of tries it was ok. Maybe a lag or something like that perhaps?

maybe those people were either in 2.36 or already converted to 2.36 which might caused the error but this is just my theory =/

r u refering to me... coz if u are, i mentioned twice in my post that i had downloaded 2.40 already...

i think he meant tat if u r using 2.40 and others using 2.36, then u might get this error. In other words, incompatible firmware interfacing each other. Thus error appeared.

I'll wait for a fix. if still cannot, I'll send it back to Sony. but problem is, bernard cannot guarantee how long it'll take. I'm guessing because it has to go through suppliers and such. and I don't have the means to go there myself. sigh.. any alternatives?

hard drive problem ah? buy new hard drive la... are u the one going to aussie? if yes, then buy there...

no la not hard disk problem. tried another hard disk also still cannot fix.

I'm guessing it's the firmware problem. something wrong with the flash.

im the one going to aussie ar.. there so much more exp. ahha.. Emailed Sony Singapore and they dont have much of a clue. One replied me saying that the latest firmware is 2.36 and not 2.40. lol.. guess they didnt know it got pulled back soon after release.

oh... i'm going aussie also... planning to take my ps3... afterall, no one in my household uses it... only me, and my cousins when they come over... so im planning to take it with me... but i cannot buy Blu-Ray movies there, coz different region...

the NTFS formatting of the hard disk was the root of the cause. it has to be formatted using DOS not NTFS. after my dad suggested formatting using DOS it worked again!

Oh sry I forgot to mention that, I thought how come nobody corrected that point (PS3 only works with FAT)...

the guide on the US Playstation board said NTFS so I just ikut la. then dad suggested DOS and it worked!

2.40, because previously the problem was the flash was updated, but the hard disk wasn't. it couldn't accept files older than 2.40 so I had no choice but to run the update.

So u ran the 2.40 update AGAIN and this time it installed and restarted without problems?

BTW, last time is blank screen or "wave of death" ur problem?
