QUOTE(navilink @ Jun 11 2008, 09:20 PM) yea i'm applying for that one...but they said the mp3 only for this week nia...well for the cc reference...mine like 10 mths only and still they pass me haha....no nd payslip... Man ! I'm envious of you. Like I mentioned before, the card sales person looks like not keen to sign people up - I also lost interest lor. I think some banks would also accept cc reference of only 6 months. (My current card is less than 1 year) Never mind ..... maybe I'll get lucky like you later Added on June 11, 2008, 10:40 pmQUOTE(bee993 @ Jun 11 2008, 09:53 PM) oh no.......i juz find out that citibank cc doesnt giv point for petrol payment........ Actually all cards don't give points for petrol payment. This is part of the settlement that the BNM, Petrol Stations Owners Associations and the banks when the petrol prices went up to RM1.92 back then. The association were threatening to stop credit card payments coz they were not making money anymore when petrol prices went up. The exception would be cards which gives out cash rebates (for petrol purchases) and MBB Petronas cards which give out 5x points for Petronas petrol and Kedai Mesra purchases for a limited time. (It's not forever ... read the T&C) This post has been edited by hye: Jun 11 2008, 10:54 PM

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 11 2008, 11:20 PM) @hye, U oredi haf something against Citibank so whether or not their salesperson's interested in the sales, Ur not interested in giving them urs *grins* Y were U @ the counter anyways? U've blacklisted Citibank haven't U? *grins* @tinkerbel No lah .... but the sales pitch was ultra weak. (If you use the typical supermarket / PCFairs/MATTA Fair salesperson aggressiveness as the benchmark) I was there twice, the first time I was dumbfounded when the person offered me her namecard (instead of asking me to sign up) and ask me to come back later. (No, she was not busy with other customers either) The second time - I had to say "Yes" a few times then only the salesperson walked me over to the table. (Even ask me to start writing down the details myself) "Oddity" was the word for the overall experience and then the person did not want my application as my card was < 1 year old. (I was expecting this before I even sat down) and ask me to bring all my documents. A real seasoned salesperson would ask this question first before going further. It's the experience that annoyed me .... I was interested at first ... (that's why I went there a few times) but then ... the experience totally turn me off. Well, just have to wait for another chance .... maybe this time the criteria would be I'll only apply if the Citibank salesperson is a hottie and I got chance ? Can or not ? (I need a light hearted moment ) This post has been edited by hye: Jun 11 2008, 11:47 PM

The argument is by paying the merchant fees of 1.++% they would eventually loose out as petrol price is fixed unlike normal merchandise where one can manipulate the profit margin. Points are still there and nothing to do with petrol association. All depends on the card issuers. Where did you get your source of information?

I'm aware of other info as well from my petrol stations owner friends but it's unverified thus I did not note it down.

Usually if one holds the cash rebate type of cards from any other banks than there wouldn't be any point accumulation.

See these news News 1 and this one News 2Which eventually led to banks not providing points to Petrol purchases. One example Read T&C - Item 4 REWARD POINTS EARNED IN THE PROGRAMMEUnless I miss out something ... I'm quite sure that petrol purchases (under normal circumstances) does not attract points. Of course certain banks does not follow this rule and creates a promotion around it. (e.g MBB Petronas co-brand card) This post has been edited by hye: Jun 12 2008, 12:25 AM

The threat was on the boycott because of merchant fees like I mentioned. Bonus points are still up to the banks like I mentioned also. Citibank doesn't have that in their T&C, http://www.citibank.com.my/APPS/portal/gen...emption_tnc.htm or as I've explained rather for their core brand card. Other type of cards have their own unique T&C especially cash rebate cards which instead of points, they give out cash rebate.

Question.
If I'm a new cardholder with no history whatsoever, how does the new rulings affect me? I'm expecting the worst scenario - 18%p.a that starts charging interest the next day right after transaction being recorded.

@hye, The RM my folks deal with is pretty hot except she's not too familiar with Consumer Banking; she's apparently more of an Investment Advisor - could introduce her to U if U want. Wouldn't know if U had a chance or not though, sorry. Yes, am quite amazed with the salesperson's attitude; I would have been turned off too.
Didn't U just cancel ur Citibank card btw? Y the sudden interest in reapplying for another?

My best bet would be around 1 month, normally from my previous redemptions - gifts arrive within 2-3 weeks. I heard about the top up too but the person did not mention how this is done.

Wanted to ask, can merchant pass the charges to consumer? I mean if after the seller & buyer have agreed to trade the item for rm100. Then when the buyer wanted to pay by credit card, the seller say need to pay more. If cash = rm100

QUOTE(jimmywalker @ Jun 12 2008, 11:37 AM) Wanted to ask, can merchant pass the charges to consumer? I mean if after the seller & buyer have agreed to trade the item for rm100. Then when the buyer wanted to pay by credit card, the seller say need to pay more. If cash = rm100 By right (if I remember this correctly) VISA and Mastercard International forbids merchants from doing so. Any attempts from the merchant to overcharge will result in the transaction being disputed in the customers favor. This means that the merchant can't claim from the bank RM101 but you agreed (and signed) to pay for RM100 only. However the banks are aware that merchants don't want to bear the additional credit card fees and pass this on to consumers by adding the extra to the total bill. If you notice merchants are careful not to "itemize" this extra for fear it may be used as evidence against them - normally they'll write this amount in one lump sum. This practice is strictly on the basis of consensus between the seller and the buyer - the banks will say no to this if there's proof. You can say no but the merchant then refuses to sell item to you, that's all. It all depends whether you allow the merchant to pass the costs to you or not.
