@hye,
muAHahHAhaHAhaHAH.... Ah well I don't think mine's due for expiry anytime soon but I do suppose if I want to make use of the benefits, I could always check with the call centre smile.gif  I think the design of the card looks quite good too, except I dun like the 'Preferred Platinum' word on it.  I suppose this 'Preferred Platinum' had to be introduced because of the 'ONE Platinum'?
*
Maybe yes and maybe no. But this change is in effect for both UOB's in Malaysia and Singapore. So, if there was 'ONE Platinum' crisis, it could have came from both side of the country then. But I agree with ya that 'ONE Platinum' dilutes the effectiveness of their Platinum products to a certain extent.

I've captured a few salient points from the new product

- Card is free for 2 years after which they will charge you RM388 per year. Supp card is chargeable @ RM30 per year. (They don't call it annual fee but admin fees)
- Auto annual fee waiver is subject to 12 transactions and a min of RM3K p.a use.
- You no longer require to hold 2 cards (What a relief! I felt the old ruling was ridiculous and non-competitive)
- They practice a flexible credit limit which will be in effect after 6 months of use. (Please refer to the UOB's website for details)
- You need to be having income of at least RM96k p.a (RM120k p.a for foreigners) to qualify for the card.

It means prompt repayment of debt for 12 out of total of 12 months...

Anyway what is finance fees? Does that mean prompt payers will be charged 1.25% as well? How about those free for life CCs?

Shinichi, those are the rate for the new ruling from BNM.

Those rates are in monthly basis whereas the new ruling advertise the rates as in annual basis:

Prompt repayment of 12/12 months 1.25% ---> 15% p.a

Prompt repayment of 10/12 months 1.42% ---> 17% p.a

Prompt repayment of less than 10/12 months 1.50% ---> 18% p.a

If you read back previous posts, you'll understand what < 10/12, 10/12 and 12/12 months mean.

Shinchi, the new ruling from BNM is very confusing indeed and I still couldn't fully comprehend it.

Guess, I don't care it much since I won't be paying late.

Perhaps you can read this page from Citibank to know more, it has an example as well:

Prompt payment doesn't mean U have to pay in full. As long as U make ur payments promptly [based on min payment] ur considered a prompt paymaster.

@hye,
Hmm.. RM30 per supp card?! Now that is not good news! sad.gif

Yeah ... I know. It used to be just RM10 (Very cheap) right ? The tie-ins are also unattractive as compared to the local banks where you can pay an extensive amount of bills online vs UOB's limited choices via PayOnline.com.my.

I seriously think UOB should make the card more attractive by putting less conditions to its card.Otherwise they'll lose out to MBB and CIMB/DA who offer real no annual fees for life cards.

You can cancel them. Give a call to the Maybank CS.

I called up the CS and they said they are having some sort of promotion where they will issue 3 cards as "a set" but sharing the same CL. They asked me to cancel any cards which I do not want when the cards are ready for collection.. So troublesome sweat.gif

@hye,
Yeah... RM10! And that is the onli reason Y I continue to keep UOB. Ah well.... perhaps they might consider waiving the fees for supplementary cardholders too? wink.gif

I haven't decided if UOB's going to be my primary bank but if it is I probably join up with sis since she's oredi an existing member; that way it's easier to accumulate the UNIRinggit reward points. Might as well put these benefits to good use right? smile.gif

So you received one Mastercard, one Visa and one AMEX?

Maybank is biased toward Visa rather than Mastercard (personally think so).

@hye,
UOB's Preferred Platinum looks quite good with quite a lot of additional benefits too; esp for golfers.  Then again, for those who's able to attain this card, they probably oredi have their own golf membership wink.gif

I've no intentions to change to this card unless UOB does an automatic upgrade - too much hassle and don't have the energy to keep tab of what's what.

PS: I could intro her to U, on condition I get the Seoul trip, not her! tongue.gif

Sure bo you have UOB platinum card?I only ONE plat card holder also know last time also UOB platinum card holder got all same offer and golf benefit now only different is no set credit limit.You say you are UOB platinum card holder why like donno punya. hmm.gif

I suggest to keep Amex. It offers you 2x Treat Points for each RM 1 you swiped. It also gives your points when your pump petrol of any brand.

Does that apply to all transactions or certain transactions like petrol? Do I need to apply for the 2x treat points?

No need to apply. TP is from MBB not AMEX.

Any transaction will give your 2x points for every RM 1 swipe.

Besides that, it also gives points for petrol transactions; not like classic Visa and Mastercard where no points awarded.
