It depends on where you swipe and did the merchant aka shop applied for the scheme with it's issuer aka the bank.

@Godek,
If the merchant hasn't tied up with any banks, U could alwiz check with the existing Credit Cards U hold; except I don't know if 36 months is applicable; mostly 12 months I hear.

On another note, I saw in the paper last night, RHB now gives 5% rebate off at petrol stations [it's applicable for 1 of their cards; I forgot]. Am not sure if there are conditions attached. I feel the Citibank Shell card is worthless for those who doesn't carry forward balance.

@vin_ann,
If they want people to start using their cards, they need to give back a little more to the consumers - and other banks are oredi giving a 2% rebate... Ah well, I doubt it'll get anything more than 10% though. I don't hold any RHB CC so makes no difference to me biggrin.gif

I got a call yesterday RHB offer the 5% fuel rebate CC. I say no thanks, too many cards now, some more I don't have a/c with RHB, will be troublesome to settle payment.

Hi all, here is some question regarding new BNM ruling?

1) If a person pay minimum payment promptly for 12 months, will he be charged 17% pa for all new transaction (no 20days free interest)?

2) If a person pay everything that he spend for 11 months, only 1 month pay minimum payment, will he be affected with new ruling as above?

Thanks a lot for all the CC sifu. Kinda confuse with the new BNM ruling.

1) Interest rates will be calculated based on the lowest tier; which is 15%

2) Yes the new rule will still affect him. His interest rate would also be based on the lowest tier for outstanding purchases because he's paid promptly in the last 12 consecutive months.

From what I understand, so as long as U make ur payments promptly each month, the interest rate chargeable is 15%. For those who doesn't settle their bills immediately, they will start paying interest rates the moment posting is made to the bank.

and what cards give rebate on petrol so far? I only know these few...
Direct Access - 1.5% on all petrol stations
CIMB - 2% on Petronas only
UOB One - 1%? on BHP only

@Aeon_Clock,
I believe the new ruling starts effective 1 June 2008. Also, DA MasterCard gives 2% rebate on petrol not 1.5%. Those I know with petrol rebates off my mind, in addition to ur list are:-

1) DA MasterCard - 2% rebate on ALL petrol
2) Citibank Shell - 5% rebate on Shell petrol
3) RHB Travel Money Card - 5% rebate on ALL petrol

I know Citibank Shell is "up to" 5% isn't it? Last I checked, the you get 5% rebate if your opening balance in the statement is a few thousand bucks...

DA is 2%? Hmm...thanks tinkerbel, you're as sweet as always biggrin.gif
