@TeraPox,
Yeah that's a pretty good size if U travel regionally but I need a check in baggage so the 70+cm one is a good size. Unfortunately those being offered with Citibank rewards aren't aplenty sad.gif

I called MBB today to check my application status and also asked about if there's any extra financial charge for oversea transactions.

The telebanker said no and only exchange rate determined by Visa/Mastercard International.

We have a press release on the new BNM ruling:

No more interest-free period for credit card users who make partial payment

PETALING JAYA: From Tuesday, credit card holders who make the minimum or partial repayment on their outstanding amount monthly would no longer enjoy the 20-day interest-free period for new retail transactions.

Those who settle their credit card outstanding amount in full every month will continue to be granted the interest-free period.

Bank Negara confirmed that the ruling took effect Tuesday as part of its effort to promote the use of credit cards as a payment instrument, and to encourage prudent spending and good financial discipline.

A year ago, Bank Negara took the initial step, announcing a new interest rate scheme for credit card users. Credit card issuers then began tracking the repayment behaviour of their cardholders from July 1 last year.

In a statement Tuesday Bank Negara said: “More than half the cardholders pay at least the minimum amount due and roll over the remaining balance.”

For credit card users with a good record of settling their credit card balances due each month promptly for 12 consecutive months, the finance charge will be reduced from the maximum of 18% a year to not more than 15%, it added.

As at the end of last year, one third of the 2.7 million credit card holders in the country settled their outstanding amount in full every month.

Bank Negara said banks and credit card issuers had already begun notifying their customers on the matter.

A spokesman for Public Bank Bhd said the bank had notified its credit card holders on the scheme in June and July last year and again in April, this year.

“We gave them ample notice because we needed to track their 12-month repayment behaviour history,” she said, adding that the bank had 900,000 credit card holders

Did anybody mention Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Card just now?

StanChart eyes 10,000 users for new card

KUALA LUMPUR: Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Bhd targets to sign up about 10,000 subscribers over the next year for its exclusive premium credit card - the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Card.

Country head for consumer banking Ho Toon Bah said the bank estimated that 120,000 people in Malaysia - about 2.5% of the total population eligible for credit cards - were qualified for Visa Infinite.

“We expect to have about 25,000 subscribers for our new card within three years,” he told reporters after the launch of the credit card yesterday.

Designed for Malaysia’s growing high net-worth market, Visa Infinite surpasses the platinum card and is available to those with an income of at least RM150,000 per annum.

The new credit card rewards cardmembers with extraordinary travel, wellness and service experiences. Members also enjoy a one-year priority banking membership with a dedicated customer relationship manager and access to preferential financial products offered by Standard Chartered.

Ho noted that the Asia region had been enjoying dramatic economic growth over the last decade and had spread from traditional “Asian Tiger” economies like Hong Kong, China and Taiwan to emerging markets such as Malaysia.

“Not surprisingly, the population of high net-worth individuals in these economies has also increased. There are now more than 2.4 million high net-worth individuals residing in Asia and they account for a quarter of the world’s US$37.2 trillion financial assets,” he said, adding that the region’s wealth was expected to reach US$10.6 trillion by 2010.

Ho also expressed continued confidence in the Malaysian economy despite fears of inflation affecting domestic consumption and corporate earnings expectations.

“We are still very positive on the Malaysian market and believe the timing was right to launch this product.”

According to Ho, Standard Chartered had been serving Malaysia’s affluent and wealthy individuals since 1997 with the introduction of its Standard Chartered Platinum credit cards.

“The bank’s platinum cardmember base reflects the success of this product forming almost 20% of its 450,000 total credit card customers,” Ho added.
