@siutimtim: my suggestion: change to sales related job and work VERY HARD to boost your income.

I have a younger friend who works as credit card agent and he earns 10k every month, and hold a plat card from another bank.

got a n00b question here... when pumping petrol using cc, there is no way to select the amount that you want to pump?
*
It depends on which brand of petrol you use. Some allow you to choose how much you want to pump, but some not.

Nope ... you'll still be charged for the Cash Advance fee.

Hmmm I thought we will not be charged since we owe them nothing?

Anyway what if I were to cancel my card and there are money in it?

@Shinichi
You can no longer use your card but the bank will not be automatically be refunded to you. Nor will you earn any interest on the extra money that you in your credit card account.

My examples came from some else I know and even I myself kept on receiving the monthly statement from AEON credit card although I have canceled it between 1-2 years ago. It's the same scenario - cancel card but you have overpaid. The bank will keep that money until you ask for a refund.

BTW ... I think I sent a letter to AEON requesting them to refund that cash but for many months they have never replied to my mail. Re affirms my opinion that I would not ever want to apply for an AEON credit card ever again. It's the worst credit card that I've ever used, PERIOD.
*
Hmmm... seems like the only way is to pay the remaining CC debts through counter when cancelling the card. I did this when I cancelled by HLB CC few months back.

I heard some people say its better to have a backup CC from different bank, but I would like to know how likely that a card from 1 bank cannot go through and we need to use card from another bank for transaction (excluding case where we have maxed out our CC limit)? Will it be okay if we just depending on 1 CC from 1 bank?

Thanks jchong, vin_ann and David.

So I think you all sure have 1 main CC right? So far are there any approval failure happen before? As I think banking technology nowadays are very advanced, so chances of this happening will be very very rare.

QUOTE(David83 @ May 31 2008, 10:42 PM)
There're couple of purpose of having another (second) CC:

1. Approval failure
2. 1st credit limit has been maxed out
3. Different statement date
4. Different gateway
5. Benefits/Discounts
*
For me I only worry about point 1, the rest doesn't bother me.

I didn't face any approval failure with my main MBB cards. (touch wood). I guess that most of the transactions I made are local.

I see. Thanks for the input. As I didn't use card much so I ask here to get more input on CC approval failures. smile.gif

Hi all,

Other than DA, Maybank and CIMB Petronas, are there any other free for life CCs that do not have any TnC attached?

The only card from MBB is MBB Petronas Visa.

CIMB has two offerings - CIMB Mastercard and CIMB Petronas Mastercard.
*
Thanks David, guess my only alternative for backup CC is MBB Petronas Visa as I already had DA.

Today I tried using my DA Paypass to pay for KFC, when I put my card on the device the cashier press 1 button then it says processing... after that I still need to sign, is this how paypass works? And I heard someone here mentions that Maybank Petronas Paywave can be used on paypass terminal too?

Technically, no signature is required for Visa Wave or Paypass but I experienced the similar circumstance as you at KFC with CIMB DA Mastercard Paypass.

If can, also give your KWSP+Bank statement when applying for cc.

guys.. New finance charge from Maybank.
http://www.maybank2u.com.my/maybank_group/...edit_card.shtml

3.0  Finance Fees
VISA/Mastercard (Both Classic and Gold)

Prompt repayment of 12/12 months  1.25%

Prompt repayment of 10/12 months  1.42%

Prompt repayment of less than 10/12 months  1.50%

4.0 Late Fees
VISA/Mastercard (Both Classic and Gold)
1.00% of the total balance outstanding
Minimum - RM10
Maximum - RM100

what it means by 12/12 months  ?
*
It means prompt repayment of debt for 12 out of total of 12 months...

Anyway what is finance fees? Does that mean prompt payers will be charged 1.25% as well? How about those free for life CCs?

Shinichi, those are the rate for the new ruling from BNM.

Those rates are in monthly basis whereas the new ruling advertise the rates as in annual basis:

Prompt repayment of 12/12 months  1.25% ---> 15% p.a

Prompt repayment of 10/12 months  1.42% ---> 17% p.a

Prompt repayment of less than 10/12 months  1.50% ---> 18% p.a

If you read back previous posts, you'll understand what < 10/12, 10/12 and 12/12 months mean.
*
Hi David, based on some feedbacks from previous posts, the new ruling has no effect on those prompt payers, but is prompt and full payment of debts =
Prompt repayment of 12/12 months?? Still could not 100% grasp the new BNM ruling yet... rclxub.gif

Shinchi, the new ruling from BNM is very confusing indeed and I still couldn't fully comprehend it.

Guess, I don't care it much since I won't be paying late.

Perhaps you can read this page from Citibank to know more, it has an example as well:

http://www.citibank.com.my/APPS/portal/gen...red_pricing.htm
*
I'm prompt payer as well... but I want to know if prompt payers will be charged 1.25% as well based on BNM new ruling.... anyone else can clarify this?

As for the link I will read it in office as I dunno why I cannot view Citibank Malaysia webpage from my pc...

I just checked online and can see the 2% rebate off my petrol purchase.

For DA, does anyone know how the points are calculated? Is RM1 = 1 point?

RM 1 = 1 points. No points are awarded for petrol purchases.

Thanks David, so I assume the points also available for monthly bill payments as well right?
