QUOTE(vin_ann @ Jun 9 2008, 02:32 PM) i thinks, when u have saving account n credit card online together, the bank is preferable you pay using the saving account, not the CC. It's not like that.same thing happened with my HSBC online banking. i cant use my HSBC CC online banking to pay the bills but have to use the saving account. It is whether the merchant wanting to accept credit card payment or not, because the amount will only be credited into their account on next working day, fastest for CC transaction. For payment using savings/current, the amount will be transfer instantly and reflected in the current day transaction. Hey, HSBC savings/powervantage/premier does give you points for bill payment as well, so CC or not, it's just fine. |

QUOTE(pisang @ Jun 10 2008, 10:59 AM) Basic savings... QUOTE(hye @ Jun 10 2008, 11:10 AM) There's a minimum amount that you need to retain (I think it's above RM5K or is it RM10K) per month before it attracts the RM5 per month. BTW guys, this is the CC thread - please keep it clean. 20k minimum balance for powervantage.QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 10 2008, 11:18 AM) @hye, Dont you have a HSBC Premier?OT a little.. I pay RM5 p/month on my MBB Premier Account - I am considering putting those funds into this HBSC EasiGrow thing otherwise I might just open the UOB High Yield Account [except I don't have RM300k to begin with! Yes Yes... let's keep this back to Credit Cards OCBC iQ, giving out visa platinum for only 60k annual gross income. |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 10 2008, 01:37 PM) @kons, Easigrow are meant for those who can't really save up in the first place. Yes, I'm a HSBC Premier banker but I haven't found out much about this EasiGrow Account so not too sure how it works but if it's in my favour I probably will use that as my primary account and keep a MBB savings account and not their Premier Account. I needed the Premier Account as I wanted the cheque facilities but I don't need it anymore [except I've such a nice MBB Account No. I am reluctant to give it up!] Nah, easigrow is good if you have that wad of cash but no idea what to invest. If you can maintain your premier for so long now, don't think you need easigrow after all. I don't use the checkbook facilities but I prefer to just use bank draft all the time. People tend to accept it better based on my experience dealing with huge sum. Maybank internet banking is good but there is a limit even in fund transfer.
HSBC fund transfer limit so far is much higher than Maybank. One thing I find out is that Maybank CC is really difficult to get credit limit increase (without specifically requesting for it), but HSBC CC is really active in increasing credit limit, even when the outstanding amount has not been cleared. |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 10 2008, 02:19 PM) @kons, Oh well, maybe I underestimated HSBC.Am sure the bank would have checked ur credit ratings before giving u the increment. It's also another way of making U spend more. A lot of times the limit is reduced due to purchases made through installments, isn't it? Would credit limit be reduced automatically? Frankly speaking, I've never seen that in my life. Purchase through installment is good. It cast an illusion over one's eye on his spending power. |

QUOTE(JamesPond @ Jun 10 2008, 03:47 PM) QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 10 2008, 03:48 PM) @kons, But so far I can observe, HSBC does it automatically though.I don't think U update them ur details each time U get an increment right?! Anyway, anyone has used their mastercard for those packages in mastercard moments website before? Does it really work? |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 10 2008, 04:06 PM) @kons, Recently I saw their promotion for visiting japan...If it's a valid and official promition those packages should work. I haven't tried it nor have I visited much of the website cause whatever I need, I usually can find better deals elsewhere. I did just come across the 60% discount off Kipling products but I don't know if it's on selected items and I've no plans of buying any bags at the moment. What other promotions do they have on the Mastercard Moments website? PS: HSBC has this 'Home & Away' program for hotel rooms; if u search hard enough, u probably can get better rates online for those rooms Looks tempting. Usually I book hotel through GTA.. The CC i'm using is still free for life! |

QUOTE(onemilimeter @ Jun 10 2008, 04:34 PM) Citibank should hire as your reply is much more informative than the Citibank officer who replied me. Better than the HSBC customer service..By the way, do you know if Maybank charges any fee for transactions made out of MY? They gave me the wrong instructions when activating the ATM card, resulted in 3 torn cards... I've been using Maybank CC for a few years now, but I'm not aware of any fees charged.. Gee. |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 10 2008, 08:18 PM) @kons, I waited 2 hours for that.Thank U.. Now I can consider HSBC if Citibank rejected my job application The charges apparently are embedded as part of the forex or something like that; as in, there is no additional column to tell u, u've been charged the Administrative fees. I didn't see that on my Citibank CC bills too and found forex quite good esp if the 1% was oredi embedded in it *shrugs* Ah well, since ur an MBB holder, Y don't U call up to double check if there are Administrative fees incurred for overseas transaction - it'll be good to have someone verify that So far Maybank CS is kinda cool. When I was trying to apply the card, I told them it's top urgent matter and I have to get it within one week's time. They took my application form and I tried calling them on third day and fourth day and they kept on saying it's still processing. I thought they would never make it... But right on the fifth day, they called me up and told me the card is ready for collection. |

QUOTE(pisang @ Jun 16 2008, 04:31 PM) let me explain with an example. With current salary, assume some1 can get credit limits of 8k for the first card. If you always swipe until 90% of your current card CL and pay promptly before due date, in a few months time, you can always request them to upgrade your current CL. They will be pleased to do that.then... he wants the second card with higher credit limit... So, he just put maybe 12K at the new card application form. Assuming the new bank is unable to verify the info. then, a new card with 12k credit might be issued to him. |
