Couple of issues for me to comment. (with comparison to SE Kseries)
1. N82 cannot charge through USB cable. K8** have option.

U can get nokia usb charger. I also hate that n82 cant charge using the data usb cable.

I could not agree more with gigohlo. If u really want the battery to last, just use it to call or sms. can u? whistling.gif
Just for comparison sake, a while ago, i tested the battery. From full to one bar, it lasted about 2 hours with fully utilize gps and wifi. Some handheld gps with 2 AA batteries can last u about 2 hours also. some laptops, can barely last 2 hours with wifi on. so who is the winner?

cheers thumbup.gif

Couple of issues for me to comment. (with comparison to SE Kseries)
1. N82 cannot charge through USB cable. K8** have option.
2. I think the SE Music player is functionally better but N82 got more equalizer customization.
3. Hate that Nokia flash intro.. its SO OLD!..evensince my 6600.
4. Higher learning curve than K850i on navigating the menus. Its a lorry load of lot more features than my old 6600 phone.
5. N82 battery life NO match with Kseries!.. confirmed by good buddy who plays with phones all the time. Nokia should have put in a higher cap battery.
6. Should have included a task manager to see what apps are still running in background, or have I missed it.

I just upgraded to Nokia Maps 2.0 from Nokia website, including updated maps for Malaysia/S'pore. Maps 2.0 is so much improved.
I'm still pondering whether to install or officially buy Garmin Mobile..BUT, I think I'll stick to my Garmin Nuvi for time being,..no damn phone beats the real thing!

1) N82 CAN be charge using CA-100 USB charger fyi.

2) Yupe, SE is better on music side

3) No comment

4) I thought user friendly & easy to use is one of Nokia selling point? blink.gif

5) Yupe, shud have better battery life. But if you are using ONLY the function K series has, then I don't think N82 will lose

6) You can install one yourself. Else what for you bought Symbian phone? sweat.gif

N82 is ALL in One device, as long as it can function as multiple device then should be acceptable right?

QUOTE(highwindz88 @ May 9 2008, 10:49 PM)
Some of the drawbacks of N82

1. The phone body design even though looks nice, but actually poorly manufactured compared to other Nseries like N95 or N95 8GB. (Look at my previous post regarding the sides gaps)

2. Battery not lasting. (10 msg, 10min call, 2 hour game, 2 hour wifi, 30mins touch here touch there) battery low already.

3. Everything micro. USB and Charger is micro, so when u go out, make sure bring charger coz ur buddy with N95 8GB or other Nseries cant lend u his.

4. The phone likes to lay down and rest. If u know wat i mean. (cant stand)

5. 2GB memory i think not enuf.

6. The D-pad a little hard to use. But u'll get used to it.

7. I still have problem installing animated Symbian S60 3rd themes.
*
1) Agreed, guess stup!d Nok!a saves cost by using low quality material on N82... shakehead.gif

2) Usually I call 1 hours, Radio one-two hours, and receive a lot of SMS in a day, and then the battery low warning tone will start alert.

3) Micro is good, else you want N82 to use MMC card meh? N73 is using same charger as N82 lar bro...

4) This is Nokia's fault

5) Get a 8GB card then! 16GB is coming as well...

6) My only concern is the D-Pad fall out one day... sweat.gif

7) No comment as never try...

the term "Nokia is consider more user friendly than SE" alr not applicable ever since Nokia created N series ,E series etc... now, SE is more user friendly... but i dun think tat is a good thing for SE.... coz it aso means tat they OS is more or less the same since last time(no improvement)... whistling.gif

It is better to have that. better than no lense cover and the lense gets dirty or exposed to danger such as scratches.

Cant say much about RAM (not sure about the amount) but N82 has more RAM. Thus it has better performance then the N95. So the N82 with a 8GB card should operate much more smoothly than the N95.

I read online it has 128MB of SDram and 256MB ROM.. that really helps esp with youtube/flash files and such..

as for the other points raised from above postings,
1. the flimsy/plasticky looking N82 phone, I guess black color helps reduce the cheapo "shine".. biggrin.gif

2. Micro USB, hate it... should just stick to standard computer interface = Mini USB

3. also hate it that you can't charge thro USB cable plugged to Computer..
if using is as 3G modem few hours, will kaput the battery unless you plug in the power adaptor
(SE no problems, USB from computer will power it like a modem)

4. Video out is like really low QVGA 320x240.. should make it as least VGA 640x480 since yellow composite will support NTSC which is around 640x480, also throw in Svideo if possible haha! probably asking too much....

I felt this phone should have more sensible features for the price and perhaps a higher capacity battery. The 3G/GPRS/Wifi on board chips are likely power hungry chips, of course NOT manufactured by Nokia but other semiconductor companies. I'm confident they'll improve in due time but not now. Better battery the only solution but that means MORE money spent to an already costly phone. I think the biggest drawback of this phone is its high on battery consumption if this phone is heavily used. If few calls a day in & out/some sms's.. it should be acceptable.

Yup. Sadly that is the case with the N95 and also N82, which usually lasts one day on average usage. I guess size is the main concern when they were thinkin what battery capacity to put in, not cost.

Another thing regarding GarminXT, after installing garmin, in the Gallery folder appears many picture and icon. Anyway to make it don't appear in gallery?

And the #key for font change during messaging, when press will auto copy/paste. The only solution i know is holding the menu button, but stlll annoying. Any new way to fix it?

1. Look for the photo files in the garmin folder and hide it. Just like how you hide files in your computer, do it with the garmin picture files. They should be in *.mbm extensions. Correct me if im wrong tongue.gif

2. Download and install garmin v4.10.80. That version fixed the bug but unfortunately, that version has another bug of its own (when switching from portrait to landscape or vice versa whilst garmin is talking will make garmin hang)

now thinkng to get either n82 or n95 (not 8GB)

can convince me why i should get N82?

most of my life using candybar phone, not really using slider before.

my concern is the big screen vs bigger RAM. is it really slow with only 64MB RAM?

and the speaker sound n95 is better than n82 right?

From what i have read N95 is a guinea pig model its use to test the market and N82 is the mature product and yes the N95 Ram is a pain in the ass always low in memory you cant suft the net while listening to music, that really sucks , if you prefer N95 get the 8gb one it has more RAM. N82 in terms of hardware is almost same as N95 but its software is way faster than N95 and the xenon flash really pawns N95 hands down.
