I'm still NOT decided on this model after I DUMPED the SE K850i 1. Price?..still a bit too high. Don't even think about ORI price! 2. Don't quite agree with its keypad buttons and overall design, IMHO. 3. Metal casing is it?.. still unsure whether printings will fade in due course or not. Anyway..very nice features but current price is a problem to me and too near N95.

Hey guys, My new phoneset (N82 lah) battery goes down to 2 bars and slightly more than half day..is it normal ah?.. just playing music, some bluetooth file transfers and a couple of short phone calls. I'm surprised its like eating battery like no tomorrow?. Should I claim battery warranty ah?. I've not come across this problem with other phones..half day down to 2 bars after charging whole night..Unbelievable lah!.

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ May 8 2008, 04:28 PM) If yours is original phone (not AP) then you can try claim battery warranty. My friend did once and got a new battery. Are you using those magnetic flip-pouch ? Or did you place the phone near electro-magnetic stuff ? Do you have a lot of TSR installed and running ? e.g. task manager, screensaver, etc. Based on your brief description above, it should last 2 days. I don't see any technical reason why electro magnetics can affect battery power. Must be something wrong thats eating battery. There's NO tsr's or screen saver, purely in standard mode..I'm not a application intesive user...just casual., no games either. Hmmm..baffling!

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ May 8 2008, 05:06 PM) If you read all the previous pages, there are some users magnetic-flip-pouch activating the camera on and off continuously, with the camera cover closed. If it really baffles you, I suggest to submit the battery for warranty claim. I'm think AP phone has warranty as well. Hmm!..thats news to me. Thanks for your comment anyway and I'll contact the dealer and arrange for an exchange battery. Its only 2 days old and I of course charged it overnight when received. I'll test it out one more day and see. Thanks again.

One comment, between SE K810/850 and N82. This N82 playing a midi ringtone doesn't sound as prestine as SE phone. I play the same tone on N82..sound cheap skate!

QUOTE(isaaclimhw @ May 9 2008, 11:25 AM) No lah..SE got its strengths where N82 is not entirely to my expectation except for this model features SE can't offer. The bugging thing for me now is the battery life..roughly 1 day and I must charge it up. I owned a SE K850i (a week)just before this and although its better build than N82, but flawed in many areas that irritated me.

QUOTE(LawdRetep @ May 9 2008, 01:03 PM) The only problem which made me choose this phone over the K850 was its firmware issues. D: Thats why I tabik those who own a K850i..good luck and pray nothing happens! Mind you this N82 is another Rm200 more oh!.. my initial budget was slightly over 1K no more.. overSHOT this time!..eat Maggi mee!

Couple of issues for me to comment. (with comparison to SE Kseries) 1. N82 cannot charge through USB cable. K8** have option. 2. I think the SE Music player is functionally better but N82 got more equalizer customization. 3. Hate that Nokia flash intro.. its SO OLD!..evensince my 6600. 4. Higher learning curve than K850i on navigating the menus. Its a lorry load of lot more features than my old 6600 phone. 5. N82 battery life NO match with Kseries!.. confirmed by good buddy who plays with phones all the time. Nokia should have put in a higher cap battery. 6. Should have included a task manager to see what apps are still running in background, or have I missed it.
I just upgraded to Nokia Maps 2.0 from Nokia website, including updated maps for Malaysia/S'pore. Maps 2.0 is so much improved. I'm still pondering whether to install or officially buy Garmin Mobile..BUT, I think I'll stick to my Garmin Nuvi for time being,..no damn phone beats the real thing!

QUOTE(Carmen @ May 9 2008, 09:20 PM) Considering of getting either N82 or N95 8GB. Can you guys pls give me some comment? 1) is the shutter sound very loud on N82? 2) battery life? 3) keypad hard to press? thanks! Yes, shutter sound is loud...not for peekaboo shots!!..if you've got that in mind. Battery life seems not a high point..if you use gps, play music for long hours and wifi..have to charge everyday. Phone seems to be warm too. Not many things as ideal..always some quibbles here n there. K850i is more solid build quality EXCEPT the keyboard quality which I think is hollow underneath near the middle..can see it being depressed. The K850 I owned before had hard buttons and takes a lot to get used to the D-ring. This post has been edited by bsl555: May 9 2008, 11:02 PM

QUOTE(blackrobin @ May 9 2008, 10:59 PM) yea we would love to experience a higher capacity battery on n82. It seems that the stock battery is made to last for only a day. In other words, we have to charge it everyday Like that best to buy a spare battery and desktop charger.. like back in those days of the brick phones. They only last a day or less.

QUOTE(blackrobin @ May 9 2008, 11:08 PM) lol those so-called brick phones could last for days, no joke. My uncle owned one before. Its reception was even better, masuk hutan also can call ..haha Masuk hutan one was ATUR 450. I remember my Toshiba lasted a day, then 2 more Ericsson (not SE) also lasted a day They were NiMH batteries.

I felt this phone should have more sensible features for the price and perhaps a higher capacity battery. The 3G/GPRS/Wifi on board chips are likely power hungry chips, of course NOT manufactured by Nokia but other semiconductor companies. I'm confident they'll improve in due time but not now. Better battery the only solution but that means MORE money spent to an already costly phone. I think the biggest drawback of this phone is its high on battery consumption if this phone is heavily used. If few calls a day in & out/some sms's.. it should be acceptable.

OK.. from full charge this morning..now its 8.38pm.. one bar and battery low warning came on. The phone was in standby mode practically the whole day, 2 phone calls, 4 sms, 10 mins GPS..thats about it!.

I'm also beginning to realize that Nokia PC Suite is less user friendly and slower than Sony Ericsson PC Suite. I was actually very happy using SE PC Suite for few weeks. In fact I still use it as my other family phone is still an SE. In truth, one can never write off SE or Nokia strengths in useability, build quality and performance. But I think phone manufacturers are more STUPID and a STUBBORN lot than camera manufacturers. There's very little to differentiate between say Nikon and Canon. SE and Nokia?.. don't tell me they don't evaluate in depth of each other's products for new models.

There's 2 versions of Nokia PC Suite. Install the other normal Nokia PC suite. The NSeries PC Suite have a couple of features disabled, such as SMS from PC. I'm using the normal PC Suite and got file manager to do whatever you want with phone.

I use 2 methods to connect and so far flawless..only transfer speed difference. Bluetooth and USB cable. Of course some functions like updating firmware or Nokia Maps will require USB cable connection. So far all ok..just that I prefer the SE PC Suite in some functionality and somewhat nicer to use.

QUOTE(ar188 @ May 12 2008, 06:03 PM) OH, so retarded wan ar this N series PC suite? I tot N series supposed to be elite? The "look" seems elite but functionally crippled in some manner, perhaps priorty to managing multimedia and fun stuff. I too was taken aback when I thought "this is it!"..but no, no!...quickly uninstalled that version and installed the normal PC Suite. I prefer very much to use the PC to sms and can't do without it here at my workdesk. Hey, afterall the phone seems to have more "fun stuff" than being a fundamental communication device. Just found another software deficiency. If you create a new profile, for example you'd like some personal settings and call it "Home" (when at home where ringing tones are set much softer and maybe different tone), you can't rename that profile. It'll be called New Profile. The work around is to modify one of the preset profiles and use that named profile.
