QUOTE(Luftwacko @ Jul 6 2008, 11:12 PM) What can you expect. That is just ping. Try to play the game and you'll notice that your latency goes up to 20k. Trust me , I've given up in Maxis. They throttle the upstream connection for non-standard ports , which is insane. QUOTE(cracksys @ Jul 7 2008, 09:08 AM) so, did you able to play CoD4 on this connection? Might be , maxis might have blocked it after all to ensure fairness. If you really want to access or host DOTA game or anything else using your maxis connection. I would suggest you to use Hamachi instead ;P@prasys - hotspot shield doesn't seem to work anymore. is it maxis or my config ? |

QUOTE(cracksys @ Jul 8 2008, 08:49 PM) damn, maxis is damn fast Hamachi isn't paid version of Hotspot shield. It is used to establish your very own Private VPN network. In other words , you can act as a server or host DOTA games despite maxis' stupid restrictions. Its just that your game isn't public and people will have to install hamachi and connect to your network in order to see itokay, got it .. hamachi is a paid version of Hotspot Shield, am i rite? what if i paid for it and maxis block hamachi also |

Hi,
Today is my 7th and last day before that I can return Maxis Broadband, I am using USB RM118/= package. It is not bad as I use it once or twice a day. This is when I am on the run, I know the usage is low but I need and sometime I would use it a lot. Anyway enuf about myself. I will keep this modem. I notice that to connect we are taught to use the Maxis Connect then press the connect to get connected. It is a pain to disconnect fast because to terminate the applicaiton it also takes up quite some time. So I just use the Dial Up Networking and set my Internet Option to dial the Huawei 3G Modem when LAN is not available I get connected so much quicker without all those Maxis Connect craps. Usage looks the same, I just need to see the LED indicator to see what I am, different color led would meant at different speed like 3G, EDGE.... Anyone using this way to connect maxis broadband. jackdon This post has been edited by jackdon: Jul 10 2008, 02:24 PM |

They should. If they don't , then make noise. Maxis needs to be pushed , they'll be taking you for granted !

what's wrong with that? is it too much or too less???
The only thing I understand is, my laptop connected to my phone with a class C IP, thus my computer never connected directly to the internet, this is exactly like you connected through router. As a result, I'm always 1 extra hop away from the Maxis gateway. This post has been edited by ZiYi: Jul 14 2008, 12:13 AM |

lol, of course I'm know what is ping (ICMP ECHO). What I mean is how it performs compared to typical ping we got from Maxis Wireless.

That shows how bullsh*t maxis is.
I tried playing in Garena, play halfway, dc from server. Play Hamachi, couldn't even connect to friends... Spread the word... don't let anyone regret using their crappy service. |

To be fair, it depends of your requirement. For online game, bursty packet is definately unacceptable.
But for me, I work alone far away from my home town and rent a single room. The only time I can sit down and use internet is during the night time. Thus streamy is not for me. As a result, I subscribe the unlimited 99 as a VAS to my voice plan so that I can email and browsing on the road. I have to say, despite the bursty nature of the packet, it is very fast. Watching streaming video is awsome, and much much faster than 1M streamyx. |
