New Maxis Wireless Broadband user here, on Power Package (3.6Mbps).

Just wondering,...

Why can't I play Gunz at all while on this broadband? So far I'm really satisfied with its results but the disappointing part is that I'm unable to play some games... sad.gif

I CAN'T SIGN IN TO WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER.

Every day I come back from school, and I need WLM to communicate with friends....

I have to resort to meebo..

Any one has any suggestions on what messenger can bypass the block imposed on WLM? Thanks a bunch...

Pro pro, oh my darling pro, PLEASE tell us what do we do about this... I can't survive without WLM... My girlfriend boyfriend all cari me leh.. without WLM I feel lonely... doh.gif

Sometimes, I think back and ask myself 'why did I go for maxis WIRELESS broadband?'

I loved the wired one, NEVER disconnects, never had any problems with latency or dcdc....

Speed VERY bad though. 50KB/s. Yes. KB/s. And I was on 768kbps plan.

I've said , they still haven't fixed issues with Windows Live Messenger. Try to use Hotpsot Shield , that does the trick if you want to use Windows Live Messenger. If i were you , I would go with Celcom rather then Maxis. At least celcom users do not complain saying that they can't connect to MSN , etc

That is the answer I'm looking for. Thanks prasys. rclxm9.gif thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

@someone_stupid:

Google for 'hotspot shield'. Download the file from the site, and install.

When you need to use WLM, select 'Hotspot Shield Launch' (which should be created on your desktop) and it will open a page in your Firefox or IE7, stating that it is connecting. Let it connect on its own.

When it is connected, you will see a wierd icon on your taskbar in green. That's signalling your Hotspot Shield is connected.

Anyway @digswell & teckdq,

Is there any site that allows FAST http downloading? Rapidshare sucks. 1st minute 60kB/s.... 5th minute 5kB/s doh.gif

I've got almost the same speed for 1-2 weeks, but recently my old ZTE modem which is awaiting replacement with a new black one (don't know the brand just yet) has not been able to connect to HSDPA when there is an availability of it - I'll have to resort to the slower EDGE (20kB/s max).

Am I being capped?

i just did it  sad.gif

result is:
- cancel existing zte modem account
- penalty charge rm200 (but i ask for waiver and complaint gao gao  tongue.gif  )
- pay another rm100 to open a new account with new black b932 modem

happy surfing with better signal modem  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

I just did it too. Brought the ZTE MF600 (white colour one) back to Maxis Centre TTDI and swapped for a black ZTE unknown model one. Speed is super now. No DC anymore too laugh.gif

EDIT: I didn't pay any penalty or registration, I used my old account with the new modem.

So existing power plan user that using old zte mf600 can change to the black one modem? rclxms.gif
*
Should be. I brought the modem back and they just took out a new black one, a new SIM card and gave to me.

Just a tip - MAKE SURE they give you a new SIM card, the old MF600's SIM card isn't compatible with the black modem. I wasn't able to use the Internet the whole of last day because of this - I went in and totally forgot about the SIM card.

N its without any charges rite? Thanx for ur info.. thumbup.gif

Yup. Make sure it's a Maxis Centre though.

I'll share my tips ere: I heard of the new modem through 1 Utama's outlet - they said it isn't possible to change the modems, and requested me to terminate the white modem's plan and swap. I went to the real Maxis Center in TTDI and got it free. So you should get what I mean.

my house is near sunway pyramid
just walk 3min = sunway pyramid
say nearest to the port still lag wtf
*
I second korbin's comment - have you exceeded the 3GB data limit? When I did I had to revert to EDGE connection because they just cut me off of the HSDPA connection, and I got the highest speeds of 20KB/s...

QUOTE(GrumpyET @ May 17 2009, 04:09 AM)
Maxis focus about 90% ++ of their GPRS BTS equipment for data - which is terrible

Digi allocates about 80-85%

Celcom is about 75% to 85%

Celcom is the most stable

Maxis is the worst
*
What's GPRS BTS equipment? And if they focus on data isn't that good? unsure.gif care to explain bro? I'm stumped.

*
Correction: Don't get Maxis BB if you're a heavy gamer/torrenter/downloader like this guy here.

Maxis BB is meant for fast surfing and e-mailing and you-know-what. Not meant for you to use and download all your pr0n. If you still wanna download go get Steamyx lah.

What is this? Care to elaborate? So far I've never heard of an unlimited broadband plan from Maxis, except their wired BB...

QUOTE(Crusnik04 @ May 19 2009, 11:02 AM)
yeah i know maxis bb just for bussiness, not for youtube/games/torrent and i never a heavy downloader and not download porn.i one of the first customers got this broadband when it launch and because it promise have the fastest wireless broadband to date and also at that times only maxis bb have wireless services. But now they are rank lowest than any other wireless isp because they only have 3gb limit cap, even celcom have 5gb and now digi explore got 10gb limit.I dont mind have to play more just to get the good connection and speed, now just have to wait for p1 or digi broadband have coverage at my place.

Added on May 19, 2009, 11:05 amcorrection not 'play but 'pay' and dont to try defending the maxis bb cuz it never upgrade their srvices even get 3.6mbps also u get 3gb limit capped so it just wasted of money..i only need at least 10gb cap enough.
*
Well, if you ask me 3GB is too little for me too, but I guess to maintain this good speed it's worth sacrificing downloading less for. Sometimes you never know, the extra 1kBps will help you.

Also, what for if the speed slow, connection shaky and nothing goes right? Personally I've never heard any complaints about Celcom, guess it's good, but the modem itself is a bomb, complain also no use alr, because you've already bought it. Digi Explore? Heard of it, never went into detail before so not entirely sure.

QUOTE(AMS @ May 19 2009, 05:42 PM)
erm ....?what is the different about the unlimited and the 5gb usage ? sorry yea i know u already explain it but me still confusing .... if me havent reach end of the month my usage is over then 5gb then how ? what will the maxis do ?
*
If you finish your 3GB cap before the month ends, your speed will be throttled (mine got throttled to 20kBps< DL) until the next payment month.

Unlimited, you can download until your HDD is overloaded.
