QUOTE(movanns @ Jun 6 2008, 08:30 PM) I got this for my Advance package (640k). I live nearby Bukit Jalil, behind MIMOS (TPM)..Is the result normal for this place? Can't even open my you tube. Plus, it alwiz disconnected if i left my PC for some time. Using ZTE MF600 ![]() i've been using StayOn, a freeware.. i didn't know if its working bcause the longest time idling for me is 5 minutes. might want to give it a try. there's a lot more software specifically made for this purpose. google around. *waa,i never thought surfing in the morning felt so good..if only i didn't have to go to work ![]() |

QUOTE(prasys @ Jun 7 2008, 11:23 AM) Honestly its worth it if you ask me personally. I am an ex-JARING WBB user. The reason why I stopped the service is mainly because i am out of coverage and it is harder for me to get the signal (since there are lots of developments in KL Area). Overall, I've had no funny issues like this crappy Maxis Broadband. Honestly , they should be marketing their broadband as "Maxis Restrictive Broadband - Its just the same as your corp. firewall" em,worth is not an option for financially-stressed person as i am .. you still on maxis bb rite bro ? any tips on getting more pleasurable surfing experience using maxis bb ? morning was a breeze but night before midnite was a nightmarish surfing experience.. i've applied TCPOptimizer but haven't see any improvement yet |

QUOTE(prasys @ Jun 7 2008, 11:39 AM) Well , it seems to be worth it at a glance. But at what cost ?. Port blocking ? Unable to p2p ?. I am willing to tolerate if they block the ports and allow p2p traffic till we reach 20GB or our limit. Then they have the rights to block and cap our bandwidth. But this is insane , they block the ports (fine) , and they impose a 20GB limit. It seems to be a joke. Oh yes i am still on this maxis bb , i'll switch back to streamyx once my phone line case has been settled by TM. This is the worst broadband ever. I think I should have opt'ed for Celcom instead of Maxis in the first place. Its just that their crappy promotion seems to be too good. Heck the agent event told me that p2p wasn't blocked (at that upon of time) and I saw in front of my eyes that it can reach 100-200kilobytes/sec and online gaming wasn't a problem back then. But now things have changed. Its just nice for surfing the web , thats bout it. i could only afford rm50+/- monthly payment and i couldn't find any other alternatives, so here i am, a week old maxis bb user .. i've seen you posted a lot of tips, so i was hoping to get to share some from you.. didn't have any intention to stir your mood actually |

QUOTE(prasys @ Jun 7 2008, 12:10 PM) No , not to stir mood or so. You may want to relocate your modem. Keep an eye on your signal. If your RSSI is around -60 or better yet -58. That means your signal is superb and by right you should get good speeds. I am just expressing it out. In terms of price ratio its not worth it. But if you don't have other choices I would be posting screenshots or some of my heatsink installation and other things i only managed to get -88 ~ -101 .. do you have any idea why RSSI strength doesn't to be a right indicator of my speed ? because it's like wacky sometimes : RSSI -85dbm can be suck and it can be fast. while some other time, > -100dbm but i had a plausible experience. how bout DNS setting, some says it helps but i've tried OpenDNS and *poof* lost connection |

QUOTE(prasys @ Jun 7 2008, 01:06 PM) Well you may want to use this DNS address :- http://andywls.blogspot.com/2007/08/maxis-...sconnected.html Read more , it does "fix" the disconnection issue Primary DNS: 202.75.129.101 Alternate DNS: 202.75.129.102 where should i change this ? is it on ZTE website or in control panel-->network properties? @digswell - sorry to hear that bro ... moar time for OC. |

QUOTE(prasys @ Jun 7 2008, 05:03 PM) You may change it in the crappy ZTE Router or in network properties. Its better to change it in the modem itself Like i've said. Maxis blocks pretty much everything. Next they might even block Yahoo! messenger then that's the time when i'm going to be maxis frequent caller sometime i do enraged by the fact that simple website also needs to be reload a couple of time but still, i have to bear this This post has been edited by cracksys: Jun 7 2008, 05:18 PM |

QUOTE(prasys @ Jun 14 2008, 12:26 AM) There is nothing much to tweak on Maxis Broadband. Its there and its being controlled by maxis. anyhow , I would like to share this great application with you guys (Hotspot Shield). So if you guys are having some issues with certain applications (i.e low throughput) , give this a shot. It might do the trick. It certainly did for me. http://anchorfree.com/hotspot-shield/ teh, hehe .. my bad anyho, tried the apps but i couldn't notice any changes except for pop-up frame on top of the page that i view. how do i set it so that i uses firefox to connect ? |

after a few days, i received a call from mobile number (normal 012), telling me that i can't cancel my registration within one year period or else i must pay RM200 penalty. after a few "yeah", "whatever" she hang up. |

i have a question, prasys .. i didn't register my account yet at maxis.com.my/broadband and for the first time i tried last night. it requires me to enter my BB sim-card number for it to send me a temp password. but then i realized, how am i going to retrieve the temp password ? do i need to pull out the sim-card from the modem and push it into my phone ?

QUOTE(prasys @ Jul 7 2008, 06:05 PM) Might be , maxis might have blocked it after all to ensure fairness. If you really want to access or host DOTA game or anything else using your maxis connection. I would suggest you to use Hamachi instead ;P damn, maxis is damn fast okay, got it .. hamachi is a paid version of Hotspot Shield, am i rite? what if i paid for it and maxis block hamachi also This post has been edited by cracksys: Jul 8 2008, 08:55 PM |

Added on July 11, 2008, 9:46 pm Thread Revamped and Updated Merged a couple of Maxis Broadband Thread into one ! and they did .. i called them so many time, my connection seems to be more than okay after a few minutes talking to their op. call them, call them and call them .. ask them to skip the network properties and IE7 properties procedure (call is free after all |

Have been relying on EDGE for nearly a week. Bloody Maxis. ah. fellow rumbling friend .. damn, my UMTS connection is okay but when its change to hsdpa, then it turned into shit |

policy or not, it comes down to your preference .. what did you want to do with the connection in the first place
a) i'm a p2p addict - ditch maxis b) i'm a dotard - ditch maxis c) i'm just a humble surfer - keep it |
