Vid is basically a value that the motherboard uses to set the core voltage, and i believe it varies with the motherboard used. Like my abit ip35-e, the Vid, is 1.325V, thats the lowest Vcore that the BIOS has. However, this is not the actual voltage of the core

it can said that the Vid of your board is 1.325V as thats the lowest voltage the motherboard gives u to run your proc smile.gif

well if your motherboard has to offer 1.30V as your lowest voltage for the processor, thus should show in Vid=1.30V too.. does it?

Added on March 23, 2008, 10:49 amhmm after a discussion with silver, i found out that the definition given by a forummer in one international forum is wrong, misunderstanding perhaps..

from IMHO, i think Vid is the how much voltage needed by the motherboard to support the strap provided by the board or the p35 chip for example. for example if the strap is 333Mhz, then 1.325V should be able to support any value at 333Mhz*n. I might be wrong... this is just an opinion

But for jargon which doesnt make sense, to me at the moment

I'm not sure what VID stands for, for i supposed it's the min required voltage that a cpu would pass all those straineous tests [ Burn - in (hot, cold, room) , final tests etc)] So that's how the cpu is rated, Bin 1,2,3, etc

Mine for example is 1.1875vid. does 3.24ghz on 1.325v
