Sigh... now i really can see the different between a local bank and the foreign bank....
Local bank "slow" in action.... really huge different and dissapointed... Got my DA CC today... come in with Master card n Visa... and im just activated my MasterCard only... DA like david mention, need to call in to activate. My dissapointment: can not use immediately, have to wait for 1 hour later only can use. come to E-banking, also can not register online. then come to Secure-e Pay, (where all the online paying o shopping need to register) tried to register but failed. Called the CS then only found out tht, im only can register my secure-e pay tomolo after 8am... all are operational issues.... guess... my expectation is too high for them... |

I agree on the hassle to have online banking for your DA credit cards. I had this problem as well and the PIN take ages to arrive.

I think my bank hates me, so I need to ask this question for confirmation:
Will banks terminate your credit card account if you don't carry a balance and spend only RM20k per year? If any of you have ever heard of this happening before, please share. |

Then why did I receive only 1-years' validity last year (previously, card validity was 2 years)?
And now, my card will be expiring end of January and I have yet to receive the renewal card. Previously, the renewal card arrived 1 month before expiry. |

The validity isnt important becoz the cards has different types and different batch of card issued have something different.. U can call up the bank and ask why the new hard havent arrived yet. Btw wat bank? Maybank? |

IMHO, in a worst case scenario - you can just cancel off the card if you don't want to pay the annual fees and apply for another bank. These days the credit card market is very competitive, especially in the Klang Valley. I don't think you'll have problems finding another bank to go to if you have been a good paymaster and no bad debts anywhere. This post has been edited by hye: Jan 12 2008, 03:47 PM |

Regarding card validity, I think it does mean something. 3 or 4 years...bank trusts you. 2 years...usually new card users on probation. 1 year...bank doesn't want your business. Am I wrong about this? More importantly, why would a bank delay delivery of a renewal card? QUOTE(hye @ Jan 12 2008, 03:46 PM) Which bank are you talking about here ? Banks have planned new features/upgrades for 2-3 years ahead so they have planned the card rollout. Delay? Not to be rude, but u worried too much i can say. |

Maybe I'm too insecure, LOL. Always over-analyse. But if you guys think I'm worrying over nothing, then thanks! Hope my card arrives next week. |

Am I wrong about this? I had Standard Chartered card before. I can safely say they issue card for 1 year and then extend further. Well banks after all are run by people, there's a chance that they overlooked your account and thus the card is delayed. Plus, its the beginning of the year - lots of holidays. Generally the longer you are with a bank, the better off you are but I disagree on this. I had 1 card which I held for so many years (it's not a local bank) - no upgrades offered by the bank (I had to apply for a credit limit increase, twice) at all ever. I don't default on payments except maybe late a few days + spends generously on the card every year.More importantly, why would a bank delay delivery of a renewal card? Yes, but if Standard Chartered is going to cancel my card for god knows what reason, then what's to stop another bank from doing the same? That's why I asked the question. If my card usage is not what banks like, then it's no point bank hopping. I think you worry too much for nothing. Same advise, if you think the bank is wasting your time - just apply to another bank simple. Unless of course you have bad credit history (which only you can answer this, no offense) then no one can help you. This post has been edited by hye: Jan 12 2008, 05:06 PM |

Well, there you go. That's what I'm talking about. The longer the credit account, the longer the validity, right? The first 2 times, I got 2 years...then suddenly reduced to 1 year. And now...looks like no card at all. I think you worry too much for nothing. Same advise, if you think the bank is wasting your time - just apply to another bank simple. Unless of course you have bad credit history (which only you can answer this, no offense) then no one can help you. Never ever had a house loan, car loan or any other loans. So definitely no credit history. Only 1 credit card. Never late, monthly balance always settled in full the past 5 years. So...see why I'm asking the question in the first place? Why does the bank think I'm a bad customer? There must be a reason. |
