That charge is from the ATM or local bank, not BigPay. When you land in airport just after immigration there's an ATM which advertises zero fee withdrawal, need to look for those.
*
That is the one i withdraw from.
The charges is from the bank itself after confirming with BP.

JOP is tiered based.

Spend 2.5K for RM85 cashback yields 3.4%

spend 2,080 also yields cashback RM85 right?

1st tier - RM999 (0.2%) = 1.998
2nd tier - RM500 (5%) = 25.00
3rd tier - RM581 (10%) = 58.10

Total = 85.098 (round down to RM85.00) = 4.08% ?

Did I get it right?
*
got cashback cap, if u spend less than 2500, ur cap is 28 only, not 85.

it is not logical that you withdraw the money and give to other people, you still need to pay the credit card that you top up Bigpay from

Doesn’t matter. The banks are carrying out checks according to AMLA..

Agreed. Banks must comply to regulatory authority or risk consequence management. No 2 way about it.

Not most of the case.
For my withdraw case in edinburgh i got charged additional 9.5% from base rate.
And fyi i don;t have any option to select local currency or home currency, all i did was input the value in pound sterling and i was charged additional 9.5% not including RM10 withdrawal fees from BP.

Which bank's ATM did you use? Or was it a non-bank's ATM?

For everyone's knowledge, there are also non-Bank ATM in Malaysia. In this case, I encountered those machines at holiday resorts.

HSBC VS top up Bigpay considered as online, i.e., 5X reward points, equivalent to 1.67% cash back (based on 30000 point = RM 100 voucher)

still not a bad deal when other cards are cashback-maxed

The campaign going to end next month 31 Aug.

Didn't realised there is a expiry for 5x treatpoints
So after 31 Aug HSBC VS is essentially useless?

Not sure if it's an official bank but the name on the slip stated 'Raphael's Bank'

Interesting, check out their FAQ

https://www.raphaelsbank.com/atms/faqs/

Looks like they are an ATM service provider and also specialise in dispensing foreign currency. They may have applied their dynamic conversion automatically?

On other normal purchases, Bigpay's currency conversions were excellent.

May be you allowed Raphael's to do the conversion which was bad instead of letting Bigpay doing it?

Any way the general advise is to always use the local currency, in this case sterling, when overseas. Especially merchants.

From their website:
A: Raphaels Bank offers a service known as Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). This means that when an eligible card is identified as coming from outside the UK, we will offer to carry out conversion of the transaction value into the currency associated with the card. You will be presented with the applicable exchange rate and the total amount to be debited from your account. If you choose not to allow Raphaels Bank to carry out the conversion, the transaction will proceed in sterling and the conversion will be carried out by your card issuer.

He says he did in pounds though. Maybe they charge a fee (9.5% is super high though).

Wow thanks for extra insight for my case.
Yes there is no option for me to choose or whatsoever.
Therefore bigpay CS mentioned some bank do trick customer with their info print page to accept the DCC.
Anyway i learnt my lesson. I will withdraw money from a more common bank when i'm in oversea rather than withdraw from airport.
