Now that's weird because a couple of weeks ago I'd wanted to redeem some of my points and looked at the TP catalogue (I thought I was getting TP points) but the CS told me I should be looking at the MR catalogue because Amex reward points and MBB TPs are separate and different.

I'm aware of the differences. That's why I asked for confirmation and even called MBB CS for this.

I've a feeling the 8X bonus points is for MR because if we don't even have a TP account, how are they going to give us points in it?!

Im sure Maybank Amex is using TP, if the standalone American Express then its MR

Amex Plat CC is MR , not treatspoint.

The strange thing is if you have a Maybank2u.com account , the point of Amex Plat CC will shown as TP , thus adding up with saving/current account , visa and master TP . This is the confusing part of the point. However i have confirm this as i exchanged some voucher at sony style @ klcc , TP and MR can be used over there but its two different things. That means i can use TP for my visa and master, and MR for my Amex Plat CC

Can we combine those TP and MR for better redemption?

Combined TP. Mine is a MBB Amex Credit Card Gold.

I think the summary is:
1) MBB Amex Credit Card Classic/Gold = TP
2) MBB Amex Credit Card Platinum = MR
3) MBB Amex Charge Card = MR

I gave another call to MBB CS. They said that it's 8x on TP.

But if using MBB Amex Platinum Credit Card is getting MR, how to get 8x TP ?

Do you guys using the classic charge card usually get your annual fee waived? If so is it easy, or dependent on spending or something?

this is where the confusing part comes. M2u also show my amex plat points are combined with visa and master. But when the time i do redemption, it's totally seperated. Visa master is TP , Amex is MR. I've just did a redemption at Sony Style. Confirmed.

I check Maybank website again:
1) MBB Amex Credit Card Ikhwan (Gold/Platinum) = TP
2) MBB Amex Credit Card Gold = TP
3) MBB Amex Credit Card Platinum = MR
4) MBB Amex Credit Card Krisflyer = not mentioned is TP/MR
5) MBB Amex Charge Card (Classic/Gold/Platinum/etc) = MR

It's indeed so confusing. Anybody could give a call to MBB CS and also AMEX CS for clarification.

i've called up the mbb cs and amex cs several times to confirm and they can't confirm it too. I guess amex ( regardless what type ) falls under MR and visa / master TP.

Yes. Exactly what i said in my post earlier. Hence the used of "both". If you are using AMEX Gold credit card, AMEX Ikhwan Gold credit card or AMEX Ikhwan Platinum credit card, you will earn 8X TP points for each Ringgit swiped.

But if you are using AMEX Green charge card, AMEX Gold charge card, AMEX Platinum charge card or AMEX Platinum credit card, you will earn 8X MR points for each Ringgit swiped.

Please note that TP (Treatpoint) and MR (American Express Membership Reward Point) are two different things.

This is because with AMEX Krisflyer Gold credit card you will earn neither. Instead you will earn Singapore Airlines Krisflyer miles. Something like CIMB Malaysia Airlines Gold/Platinum/World Mastercard.

Reventon, i can confirm that if you are using Maybankard or Maybank Islamic AMEX branded credit card you will be earning Treatpoint instead of American Express Membership Reward Point because i was a Maybankard AMEX branded Gold credit card user myself before switching to American Express Green charge card a few months ago. And before i cancelled my Maybankard AMEX branded Gold credit card i had redeemed 3X RM100 Jaya Jusco vouchers via Treatpoint.

hm... i do not hold any maybank branded amex, at first i thought that amex plat cc is TP because i see my points calculated in m2u are categorized as TP . Its show a grand total combined TP too.
But Sony Style system shown is MR for my amex..
MBB should have show the point clearly categorized and not confusing

If generally refering to Amex, I've MBB Amex Credit Card Gold for the past >3 yrs, I've never received any catalogue or info or redemption on MR. Only receive TP stuff.
