Since Alliance Bank rejected my application, I am now trying to see which credit card offers the best in redemption especially cash rebate.

Currently using AmBank online to make payment for utility bills that over RM1k a month.

@jack2,
Yes that's true but U only need 17500 points to redeem RM100 Parkson vouchers or assuming if U don't shop at Parkson, you can have RM100 Petronas vouchers at 18500 points.

Cold hard cash is well at 20000 points which is really not too bad too smile.gif

Incredible! First my Amex Gold application was "stalled" for a month because they needed additional documents but didn't tell me - I only found out when I called to check on the status.

After another month, they say my application is rejected with no reasons whatsoever. I really don't understand. I'm a priority bank customer, no loans, hold plat cards, and spend more than RM100k/yr but don't even qualify for a lousy charge card. sad.gif

I was in midvalley last week. The maybank cc promoter kept asking me to apply for AMEX platinum cc, annual RM800 can be waived by spending 2k during the 1st month, and she told me that a lot of new card holders got the annual fee waived with this method. Not sure whether it's true or not?

I'm devasted! Had wanted to apply Amex to collect Enrich miles quicker, especially Amex plat, so I thought start with gold then upgrade later. Mana tau, gold also don't qualify.

@wirelessdude,
Y don't U apply for an Amex Platinum now and transfer the points you've accumulated from your Gold to that account - I think that might do the trick?!

I dont think you can waive the annual fee by spending 2k during the first month. For me , i've spend more than 15k in the first month , before end of 2nd month i already hit 25k ( for the longines watch icon_rolleyes.gif ) , amex finally charged the annual fee into my account at the 3rd month. As usual i call in for the waiver like i did for my amex gold charge card but this time i was being denied as they told me Platinum Series annual fee will not be waived no matter how much i have spend.
I think the promoter are not really honest, maybe desperate to get customer to sign up for the card. This is from my own experience on the annual fee waiver part. Maybe some other holders can confirm this fact?

I was told by the officer that I have to wait 6 months before I can apply for Amex again.

Why don't you get a CIMB Enrich Plat Mastercard? If you a big spender, they will invite you to their Worldcard later on, which will allow the best enrich miles ever tongue.gif

Btw, any updates from the Rock? Its been awhile hmm.gif

I applied for a gold CIMB Enrich 2 months back because I was concerned with the annual fee - wanted to see my usage and then maybe upgrade to plat later. So far, I've spent almost RM20k for the 2 months but not sure if I can hold up with the on-going recession.

Experience hasn't been very good because you usually have to pay full prices (even when discounts are available) to earn bonus miles from their partners. That's why you see many partners leaving the program lately.

For normal transactions, Amex is better because of the 2x points and lower conversion rate.
