Quick question, why does one choose AMEX over credit cards, considering it's not so widely accepted in M'sia?
Sorry if this is a silly question,don't know too much bout AMEX.

Sorry to break the flow, but another question here.
Do you guys using the classic charge card usually get your annual fee waived? If so is it easy, or dependent on spending or something? |

Oh yea btw, someone was saying the customer service number behind the regular card only opens during office hours right, while the plat number is 24/7 and they'll answer enquiries nevertheless. What was the number again?

Quick question for the regular green card users.
I know annual fee is now waived, or you more experienced users have probably requested for waiver in the past, but is the membership rewards subscription of rm25 pa waivable as well? Anyone requested for it before? |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ May 24 2009, 12:13 AM) You can get your Green Charge Card and Gold Charge Card waived. It won't be a problem as there are users here managed to do it. Hmm it's already appeared in my "Recent charges", I should probably try getting it waived pretty soon right?So, I call up customer service and go "Hi, I would like to get my MR subscription fee waived." Something like that? |

Finally received my amex laptop bag =)
And yea, I think for the credit cards you need to go through M2U. If you really have an amex credit card no other maybank accounts, probably you could still sign up for M2U? |

QUOTE(winner @ Jun 20 2009, 07:44 PM) How long did it take to receive the laptop bag from the day you received your 1st month statement? I'm awating mine too, and after that I will cancel it. Hmm received my statement at the end of May, and got my laptop bag mid June, roughly speaking. Can't remember the exact date I got the statement, but the bag I think was 17th of the month (while I was away on holidays) QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 20 2009, 09:08 PM) Yea it's pretty decent. Planning on using it for work =pQUOTE(winner @ Jun 21 2009, 08:06 AM) With this, I think the monthly statements of all Amex cards in M'sia are sent out directly from Amex office owned by MBB in M'sia, don't need to go through its regional HQ in Hong Kong. The statement for my charge card came by air mail, with the whole "postage paid - hong kong" on the top right. The undelivered address is a Hong Kong address as wellPertaining to overseas transactions, the foreign currency is first converted to USD, before the USD is converted back to RM. In the event that it involves two conversions, the 2.5% commission charge is only applied to the 1st conversion from foreign currency to USD. QUOTE(shauyan @ Jun 21 2009, 10:22 PM) Today just paid my 1st bill. Try to register favourite payee in M2U. Tried a few times, still unsuccessful. Just found out my card is Charge Card, not credit card Another difference would be that in charge cards, you don't have a line of credit unlike credit cards. So you'll have to settle your bill in full each month. On the other hand, you can opt to pay the minimum amount of your credit card bill (a very small amount), and be subject to interest. |

Just curious, if I already have a charge card and I'm earning MR with that, if I start using an amex gold cc for pumping petrol/groceries, would my MR points earned (if this card uses MR) be shared with my existing charge card?

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jul 2 2009, 08:10 PM) It would be separate that's for sure. Amex CC and Charged Card are different department also. I find the CS for charged card curteous and experienced. I was very dissapointed with the CS handling my AMEX Gold CC application where I felt he was very inexperience when handling my questions. Ah ok. Well while the points are attractive, it's just hard to consolidate points if you have to many cards. You end up earning a lot of points, but all in seperate lines and you can't claim the big stuff. Imo at least.Hmm but still it's free for life, might consider applying for it and see whether I wanna use it. If I already have a charge card, do I have to resubmit stuff like IC photocopy,payslips and what not? And yea, I've called the amex CS several times, and I was rather impressed with them. They really sounded like they know their stuff |

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jul 2 2009, 08:35 PM) Get both AMEX Gold charged card and CC Well yea was considering applying for it anyways since it's free for life. Hmm but all my CCs are under a year old, will they accept that?Bro, go get AMEX Gold CC even if you have the charged card simply because of the 5X MR which is even better than Turbo. There is no expiry date for MR (so far). Yes, you still have to submit your IC and just another photcopy of your existing CC. This is because the charged card and CC not same dept. You can also just fax to them the application form. |

@tinkerbel
Hmm ok,probably not consolidated I suppose. But by combine the points you mean? Like I can claim RM100 rebate with 10k points in charge card and 10k in credit card? (btw yea, should be around there since most card points are generally worth 1/2 a cent each =p) |
