Tried AMEX at KFC. Their CIMB terminal doesn't support AMEX.

Maybe your card is defective, the terminal got problem or the line is slow. A lot of possibilities.

My point is to try to create a list of merchants that accept AMEX for new AMEX user guidance.

My next try will be Perodua SC and Sushi King.

MilesAndMore, perhaps you can share your experience too.

We can compile a list and TS to put in post #1.

The two Perodua SC I went also didn't charge extra.

One at Penang Island at Jalan Pattani and the other at Juru Autocity.

dun't need to worry if certain tranx is decline even if u have sufficient crdit etc as most times, its to do with the EDC at the merchant. This is especially so during Mega Sales period but otherwise there more & more merchant accepting AMEX card these days. I guess MBB has converted a lot of their merchants or even tag on competitors EDC terminals to increase acceptance.

Should use Diners, so far never got rejected before tongue.gif unless not accepted in the first place. Further, it has the longest credit period of up to 55 days brows.gif

I have listed the list of merchants that accept AMEX as a form of payment before in the credit card thread but i don't know how to dig them out now as i don't even know which version of credit card thread i posted it on.

And by the way, Sushi King does accept AMEX. GAP at Pavillion (the shirt store) also accept AMEX, so i think it's safe to assume that all GAP outlets do accept AMEX.

Since they own the AMEX brand in Malaysia I believe Maybank is aggressively promoting it both in terms of cards issuance and merchant outlets. Chicken & egg situation. People will not apply for AMEX card if it is not widely accepted nor will merchant sign up to accept AMEX cards if not many people are using the card. However once the AMEX brand becomes widely accepted in Malaysia I foresee Maybank become the dominant player in merchant business. Any merchant who wants to sign up as AMEX merchant must go to Maybank and they will definitely insist that the merchant also use their terminal for Visa & Mastercard acceptance as well(if initially merchant is with other bank).
