@David83, There's no need for U to compile a list of Amex merchants - Amex oredi has that on their website - I read about that the last time I was on their website looking for some information; I didn't go in to view the actual page but I'm quite sure it was there.
Also, more places are accepting Amex now; I do know Amex has a higher merchant fee so merchants would still prefer Visa/Master over Amex but I tell them I don't have any other thus they have no choice *grins* [of course U first need to establish the shop takes Amex] *grins*

tinkerbel, appreciate if you could really post the link here.
Otherwise, have to rely on the list shared by forumers here.

Just want to ask a simple question. Why even bother with AMEX if far fewer outlet accept AMEX? I cut mine many years ago when US Dell do not accept AMEX. That was the last straw.

@Optiplex330, Am surprised to hear/know that US Dell doesn't accept Amex. I recently made several purchases with Dell Malaysia and they did accept my payment via Amex. The only good thing about Amex here in MY is that it's the best card that gives us back the most in terms of points Other than that, no other 'tangible' benefit I know of

As a charge card, even their credit period also shorter than Diners. Guess its only MBB's 2X rewards & unfair advantage that's keeping Amex alive in M'sia As to their so called prestigious Plat Card & above, its mostly marketing hype, especially now that MBB has taken them over, CS also went downhill all the way. So, you do not need it, if you are not a frequent traveller with high & unexpected expenditures which may at times surpass your CL

@tgeoklin, I haven't had problems with the CS - I called for a temporary increase in credit line of RM15k and got RM20k. The rest of the stuff U mentioned, I do agree I also realise I get the promotional leaflet when it's almost expiring or when it's out-dated. Haven't had time to send Amex a nice mail but it's Christmas!

Some merchant updates from this weekend to-do list:
1. Kedai Tenaga does not accept AMEX on their MBB terminal but TNB accepts Autopay with AMEX and Diners Club 2. DBKL HQ accepts AMEX for compound payment 3. Touch&Go KL Sentral does not accept AMEX on their HLB terminal.

Well, diff cards cater diff needs. Amex more suitable for shoppers. I cant see much problem when i step in shopping malls with my amex. Most departmental stores and shops accept it! The most rox part is the tripple point... teehee. u can even collect point for petrol consumption

All my transactions in AMEX in KL done last week were smooth and no rejection.

Hi Guys,
I just received a letter from Maybank Card Center. They offer me AMEX gold if I mail back the form that they give. Well I never apply for this & not own any CC with them now (cancel one a few month back as they give me gold card instead of I applied for platinum).
What do you guys think, should I accept this card as I don't see much offer/ benefit compare with other Credit Card & Debit Card that I have.

You people are lucky you don't have this one:
American Expess has increased the cost of borrowing on one of its credit cards to 46 per cent — more than 30 times the Bank of England base rate.
The company now charges 46 per cent APR on the British Airways Premium Plus card, making it Britain’s most expensive credit card.
