Anybody tried AMEX at KFC? Does their CIMB POS accept it?

Tried AMEX at KFC. Their CIMB terminal doesn't support AMEX.

It still is accepted by many other merchants such as Isetan, Carrefour, Jaya Jusco, Watson, Metrojaya, Kinokuniya just to name a few.

Giant, Sunshine, Tesco, Harvey Norman, Guardian and Borders also accept AMEX.

My point is to try to create a list of merchants that accept AMEX for new AMEX user guidance.

My next try will be Perodua SC and Sushi King.

MilesAndMore, perhaps you can share your experience too.

We can compile a list and TS to put in post #1.

The two Perodua SC I went also didn't charge extra.

One at Penang Island at Jalan Pattani and the other at Juru Autocity.

I don't think will got freebies. Unless I wait till MBB TP Fair in July/August 2009.

I rather have loads of cash to satisfy my needs than these plastics   No, not put the amount of CCs U have at Post #1 but on the Credit Card Thread - that way, U can get some people there to just stop showing off about their Platinum cards

i understand that if you use the new American Express Gold credit card oversea, there will be 2.5% admin charge. Question: Will this 2.5% be added to the charged amount and appear as a single transaction in the bill or there will be one line for transaction amount and another line for 2.5% admin charge?

Single. Charged my AMEX to Amazon before.

If ur Visa/Mastercard is issued locally the conversion will be direct; as in from AUD to RM instead of AUD --> USD --> RM.

I'm not sure what Visa Verified or Mastercard Secure measures are but on the Amex Platinum cards, U can actually return the goods and ask for a refund up to RMX amount.  I've never used that service before so can't give more information.

That's weird cause there's been no known cases of double conversion for Visa/MasterCard.

Can someone please clarify?  Then again, are we asking this question in the wrong thread?

Ok, to shed some lights on these conversion issues :-

1) Amex started out on its own & runs its operations from the US with branch offices worldwide. All settlement within the domicile country is settled locally thus no forex involved. Inter-countries settlements are always routed to the US first before being re-converted back to the local currency of the respective countries.

2) Visa/Mst are a consortium which only licensed the Visa/Mst payment franchise/system but does not issue any card directly. All cards are issued by the respective banks in their country of origin and any inter-countries transactions are settled on a direct basis to the local currency.

3) Certain merchant may have use alternate settlement providers, which could have resulted in the double conversion. Eg. a merchant in M'sia may have used a US pay pal merchant a/c but reflected the prices in RM etc. DELL is one such example as their settlement office is in S'pore thus their internal currency is actually SGD and not RM but their system will adjust the transactions accordingly 

Yes, I think so. But it is only applicable to groceries, petrol, purchases at participating bookstores and telco payment via autopay. Other retail purchases are entitled to 2x MR.

I don't golf and I oredi have existing golfing privileges at Saujana, Rahman Putra & KLGCC.  Yes the Shangri-la card is a benefit but muAHahH to-date I haven't used it even once; maybe cause I'm not based in the heart of the city and there's 5 of us in the family so it's hard to make use of the 50% discount *siGh*

Whatever the conditions are, if it's asking me to spend at least RMX amount with them, I'm not going to be able to say YES because I don't know what my expenses are like; it can fluctuate.

And, I really AM a cheapskate lah!   I onli paid the RM800 to benefit from the RM2k Longines watch
