Since they own the AMEX brand in Malaysia I believe Maybank is aggressively promoting it both in terms of cards issuance and merchant outlets. Chicken & egg situation. People will not apply for AMEX card if it is not widely accepted nor will merchant sign up to accept AMEX cards if not many people are using the card. However once the AMEX brand becomes widely accepted in Malaysia I foresee Maybank become the dominant player in merchant business. Any merchant who wants to sign up as AMEX merchant must go to Maybank and they will definitely insist that the merchant also use their terminal for Visa & Mastercard acceptance as well(if initially merchant is with other bank).

I received my AMEX Gold Credit card today....and its soooooooooooo beautiful. in fact its the best looking card in my wallet now The card is also automatically lined to my M2U. However this card's limit is shared with my other Maybank credit cards.

Yes that's right. I saw my MR from my AMEX Gold Credit Card in my M2U today...transaction was yesterday. Damm fast lah they credit the MR. The MR was combined with my treats points from my other MBB credit cards to give one total. Since they combine MR and TP why the need to differentiate?
